Welcome to the next episode of our web series titled, Website Makeovers with Erica, a blog article and five-minute video, which shows Erica helping an OurChurch.Com member makeover their website with our WP-EZ Website Builder.
The purpose of these Makeovers is to provide you with inspiration and ideas to enhance your website.
In Episode Eight of Website Makeovers with Erica, we revitalize Peniel United Methodist Church’s online presence and appeal to younger families through a website makeover.
Who is Peniel United Methodist Church?
John Erskine, a trustee at Peniel United Methodist Church sat down with us to talk about the church’s goals and mission. John explained how Peniel United Methodist Church has witnessed countless generations pass through its doors, watching children grow and embark on their own journeys.
Now, fueled by an unwavering hope, they aspire to infuse their church with a vibrant wave of younger families, breathing new life into their cherished community and ensuring its continued growth and vitality to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout its community.
What obstacles were preventing their website from accomplishing its goals?
The website failed to entice younger visitors, as its barren church photos conveyed a sense of emptiness and deterred potential visitors from feeling welcomed and invited.
Among the challenges encountered were:
- The majority of the photos showcased an uninhabited church, creating a sense of vacancy rather than capturing the vibrant spirit of the congregation.
- The website lacked any personal touch, devoid of any contributions or presence from its members, staff, or pastor.
- Essential information about the church’s beliefs and core values was notably absent from the website.

And here is what it looks like now.
The End Result
In the end, we successfully redesigned the website to be more aligned with the preferences and interests of its target audience. By incorporating personalized quotes and featuring an appealing photo of a younger family, we aimed to attract and engage a broader range of visitors, particularly those in the younger demographic.
