How Do I Get Listed In Google?

The search engines are the greatest source of traffic for most websites. So, it’s important that you are listed in Google, Bing, and other search engines, but how do you do that?

In this video I’ll tell you how to get listed in Google, Bing, and other search engines.

Hi, I’m Kurt Steinbrueck with, and in this video, I’m going to show you how to get listed in Google, Bing, and other search engines. There’s really two ways to do this.

The first is to submit your site to the search engines. Now, to do this, just do a quick search for “submit my site to Google or Bing” or whatever search engine you’re trying to get into, and that should bring up the page where you’re going to submit your site. You may need to sign up for an account, but the process is pretty simple and pretty quick. The problem is that the search engines kind of treat these as suggestions, and so you don’t really know how long it’s going to take for them to actually get around to listing your site. It could be a couple of days; it could be a couple of weeks.

A quicker way to do this is to get links from other people’s sites pointing to your site. The way that this works is that once a site is listed in the major search engines, they’ll go back and visit those sites periodically to see if there’s any new content, and if they find your link, they’ll follow it; they find your site, and then you get listed.

What kind of sites do you want to get a link from? Well, you want it to be an established site that’s already listed in the search engines and has a good reputation. You also want it to be a site that updates frequently, because the more frequently they updated, the more frequently the search engines update or visit that site. If you have a site that updates – maybe they post a new blog post every day or a couple of them every day – the search engines may visit that site several times a day. So you could actually get listed within a day or so. So that can be a good quick way to get on there, but of course, it takes a little more effort. You actually have to reach out to people and try to get those links.

If you know someone that has one of those sites, go ahead and just ask them. They’ll probably be willing to give you a link. If you don’t know someone, contact some of these site owners and see if they’d be willing to, especially if you offer them something. You offer them some blog content, something that will be interesting to their readers. Don’t pay. You don’t want to pay, because that’s a violation of the terms of service with Google and Bing. But you can give them content that will be valuable to their readers, and then they can link back to you as the author of that content, giving you credit for that.

The great benefit to that is that you’re also then getting yourself in front of their viewers, so more people – like actual people – are learning about you and coming to your site. So those are the two ways to do it. You can go ahead and do both, just cover all your bases, but that’s how you get listed in Google and Bing and other search engines.
