Our focus this month is on church website photography. It’s worth noting that photos also have a significant impact on other aspects of your communications and outreach.
BrightLocal published a Google Business Profile Insights Study in which it found strong correlation between the number of photos on an organization’s Google Business Profile (GPB) profile and the number of actions visitors take (clicks and calls). (Note: the study was published before Google renamed Google My Business (GMB) to Google Business Profile (GBP), so the old name is used throughout the report & charts.)
Check out this chart:
As you can see, the more photos on the GBP profile, the more actions taken, with a dramatic increase in actions on GBP profiles with 100+ photos.
Organizations with 100+ photos also were seen more in search results and map searches:
Now we do have to be careful not to confuse correlation with causation. Places that are very popular (a hot restaurant, a concert venue, or a mega church) are more likely to post a lot of pictures, get searched for and get more GBP actions than places that are less popular. Therefore, we can’t say for certain if you post more photos to your GBP profile, you’ll get more calls and clicks to your website.
But we also know…
People fear uncertainty.
Therefore…
The more you can reduce uncertainty about your church, school, ministry or business by showing people what you’re doing in photos, the more likely people are going to want to join you in what you’re doing.
Can you think of a reason you wouldn’t want to share every photo you put on your website and every photo you post to social media on your GBP profile? I can’t.
