There’s one aspect of a website can’t be seen, yet I am tremendously thankful for. In fact, it may be the most important part of a website. I’ll tell you what it is in just a moment.
But before I do, a quick story…
A couple of years ago my wife and I were preparing to have about 100 guests over to our house for our annual Oktoberfest.
A couple of hours before the party was about to start, I was replacing the flush handle on the toilet in our guest bathroom. There was a hairline crack in the tank, I didn’t think much of. But when I tightened the nut holding the flush handle in place, it cracked the entire tank. Water poured out all over the bathroom, but I had an even bigger problem…
In two hours we were going to have 100 people in our house and no toilet!
Fortunately, I have a good friend, Steve, who at the time worked for a plumbing company.
I called Steve. He immediately loaded a replacement toilet into his vehicle, called one of his plumbers and the two of them got the new toilet installed in record time.
My guests and I were saved from what would have been a very uncomfortable situation.
While Steve and I have been good friends for years, my appreciation for him went off the charts that day!
What does an emergency plumbing repair have to do with a website?
Ever been in a situation where you were preparing a website for an upcoming event and broke it beyond your ability to fix it? I certainly have more times than I would like to admit. If it hasn’t happened to you yet, it’s only a matter of time.
If there’s one thing I’m thankful for, it’s having a team of “Steve’s” behind me, who I can turn to when something on a website breaks.
Not only am I thankful for them when I have an emergency, but I’m thankful for the peace of mind I have all the time knowing if there ever is an emergency I’ll be taken care of.
