I’ve seen it many times over the years…
A client contacts us. He’s frantic because his website is down. He needs it back up ASAP because his church has a big event going on this weekend. We look into it and find out, while the website is hosted with OurChurch.com, they decided to register their domain name with another company. The client was tinkering with the domain settings, accidentally took their site down, and because it’s registered with another company we’re not able to help them.
We have another client… a member of their church offer to build a new website for free, but they never discussed maintenance. The new site looks good and functions well, however, the lack of regular updates has left it vulnerable. The site has been hacked several times. Because the developer of the website isn’t providing updates or maintenance, the church contacts us when the site is hacked. For websites created with our NE1 Web Builder or custom designed sites that have our Full Website Support issues, we could fix a hacked site immediately, but we can’t help those who build their website through some other means.
For a website to work…
…the domain name, web hosting and website itself have to all be working well together.
When a website goes down, the problem could be with any one of the three.
While the site is down, it can be complicated and time-consuming to figure out where the problem is. This issue is exasperated when the domain name, web hosting and website are handled by different service providers. And it get extremely frustrating when you contact one service provider about the problem, only to have them tell you they can’t help you, contact one of the other providers.
This situation is easily avoidable.
The solution is simple…
All you have to do is get your domain registration, web hosting and website from the same provider.
Our mission at OurChurch.Com is to help you achieve your mission online. Part of the way we do that is by providing all the website services an organization may need including web design, web hosting and search engine marketing. This simplifies your life and gives you the peace of mind knowing no matter what happens, you can contact us and we can take care of it for you.
