It’s only a few days before Christmas and as we put the finishing touches on all the holiday preparation, it is important to remember the true meaning of this holiday: The birth of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
Too many times we forget that Christmas is not about presents, lights, holiday food (though that is pretty important:) or even gathering with family and friends.
Don’t get me wrong, family and friends are extremely important and showing our love to them is one way that we show Jesus in our lives. We can also show our love to others through the giving of gifts.
However, the primary reason that we a Christians celebrate Christmas is not about any of those things. Instead, it is about the birth of Jesus, who eventually paid the ultimate sacrifice on a cross as payment for our sins.
As I approach this week of Christmas, I need to set time aside to focus and meditate on gift that God the Father gave through the birth of Jesus. I encourage you to do the same.
Merry Christmas from OurChurch.Com!
