Sometimes when Google does something new, it’s something that makes a lot of people anxious. However, sometimes they put out something that’s pretty cool and helpful. This past month Google did that twice. They created two new features that are quite helpful.
1. Making Reviews Easier:
Reviews are very important, especially for local organizations. Positive reviews can help you rank better and make people more likely to visit your organization. Negative reviews can hurt. Google My Business (The Google Maps/Google+ Local listing dashboard) now allows you respond to reviews right from the dashboard, making it quicker and easier than ever to say thanks for positive reviews or address dissatisfied people. If you have the Google My Business app, Google will even notify you when you receive a new review so you can respond right away. Pretty cool.
2. Helping Your Mobile User Experience:
Mobile Internet use is on the rise. Every year more and more people use mobile devices to access the Internet and do so more often. Google has now added a feature to Google Webmaster Tools that will report to you any mobile experience issues they detect on your website. From your font being too small, to links being too close together, to poor looking display, the tool can help you identify issues so you can improve your mobile user experience. Thanks Google.
I’ll tell you a bit more about these new features and tell you about other news, such as Facebook’s new Local Directory, and DuckDuckGo’s latest move, in the video below. Check it out:
