LIFE'S GIFTS

Life's gifts are precious,
think of all the 'extras' God has given.
Water and air are necessities,
but all the 'extras' are countless.
We humans are too heedless of them,
we take everything for granted,
never thinking about the Creator.
Never be too busy for
the wonder and awe of life,
Be reverent before
each dawning day.
Embrace each hour,
seize each golden minute
God has given you.
Do we realize that
though our lives are finite,
our deeds on earth
Weave a timeless pattern.
Just wait a minute
and reflect on it.

THE CHOSEN ONE

Take time to love,
And to be loved.
Take time to pray,
Take time to be friendly.
Take time to think about
The poor and the needy,
All those who are around you.
Take time to think about
All the blessings you have.
The blessings are forbidden
To thousands around you,
But you are the chosen one.
Take time to think about it.
Take time to think about the sick,
Around the world millions are suffering.
Think about your health and prosperity,
You are the chosen one.
Think about the bereaved ones,
Children died, parents died,
Loved ones passed away.
Think about all the loved ones
You have with you.
You are the chosen one.

FORLORN

Weary and forlorn, I sat in my room,
Gazing out at the gray rainstorm.
Dusk has descended quietly,
In this world of greed,
A world of fear and doubt,
A world of animosity.
I long for a loving heart,
A compassionate heart,
Which will hear my sorrows,
To whom I can confide,
To rest for a while.
But my search was in vain.
I turned to God my Saviour.
There I found peace and solace.
I opened my heart to Him.
He gave me eternal peace,
And I slept peacefully
In my lonely room.

"MY SON"
The words sounded unique,
I repeated them several times,
Sounding them a thousand times,
until I became familiar with
their rhythm and cadence.

I had two daughters,
One was eleven
and the other ten.
I was anxious to know
whether this baby was
a boy or a girl.

At that time, there was
no ultra-sound scan
in our country.
I placed my heart's desire
in God's hands,
as I eagerly waited
for the day to come.

The nurse came out
of the delivery room,
holding a very tiny,
sweet, little baby boy,
wrapped in a blue sheet.
She showed me the baby
for a minute, and away
she goes to the nursery.
I could hear him crying,
maybe to see his mother.

In my heart, I heard him
calling me "Mummy".
I thanked God for
answering my prayers.
God is good to those
who seek him.

GRANDPA

Thick and bushy moustache,
Broad and heavy shoulders,
Solid muscles without an ounce of fat,
That is the description
about my Grandpa.

I loved the summer holidays
spent with my grandfather
in the far away mountain farm.
He taught me how to make a flute.
A knife was slipped from its sheath.
He cut a thin branch
from a tree in the farm.
He sat beside me and showed
me how to make a flute.

In the basement was his workbench.
He sat on it and picked up
the piece of wood.
Within minutes it turned out
to be a beautiful flute.
O Grandpa, how I wish you were alive,
but God took you away in His own time.

GRANDMA

Grandma with her perfumes and trinkets,
Grandpa's photograph sitting
in a buggy on a farm beside her,
wearing a dark blue suit,
a bowtie and a hat.

She always smelled nice.
She had dark bright eyes,
and a very soft face,
with wrinkles arranged well
by the Creator who created it.

Her room was always
trim and ship-shape.
I loved her dearly.
She was cranky now and then,
but her values in life
was a model for me.

She provided a pleasant
link with the past.
She taught me a
sound sense of values
and priorities,
one of the valuable qualities
we all must learn to
remember in old people.
Yes, my Grandma was
a gift of God to me.

THE MORNING STAR

The curve of a brilliant sun
Bursts throught the dark forest.
The world begins to awaken.
Everybody rich or poor,
Who loves the Saviour
Spends their
Precious morning hours
With Jesus.
They have to
Get the strength
For the whole day,
The strength to live
In this wicked world,
Where there is hatred
And malice,
To live holy,
To love, to serve,
And to care,
To follow the path
Jesus has shown,
Without turning
Right or left,
Going forward
All the time,
Day in and day out,
Without ceasing,
To look for new avenues,
Where they are needed,
To show the Saviour's love,
To care for the needy
And the unprivileged.
Jesus, give me grace
To abide in you.

GOOD DEEDS

The World is in need of good deeds,
Yes, it is in need of a heart,
That is willing to share,
willing to go and care.
Do we have a heart
that is compassionate?
A heart to see the needs around us.

Are we wrapped up
in our selfish interest?
Are we willing to share
our wealth with others?

Christian life is a life of giving,
and not of taking,
a life of sharing,
not accumulating.

Those who are blessed
are those who are sensitive
to the needs of others.
The Creator will weigh our deeds.
Will we be found lacking?
Dear friend, think about this.

KING OF KINGS

The Son of Man will come in His glory,
While on earth from His birth until His death,
He was poor and did not have a place
of His own to lie down.

He moved from place to place,
healing the sick and helping the needy.
He is holy, perfect, pure and sinless.
He is merciful and compassionate,
full of love and kindness.

He will come as King of Kings,
not like an earthly King with splendour.
He will be the sovereign Lord,
Lord of Lords in all the earth.
Let us all wait for our King.
Are you ready?

FOR YOU, MY CHILD

A beautiful little girl,
Flitting around like a butterfly.
A brilliant school-girl,
The pride and joy of her parents.
The years swiftly passed by,
and as she grew up,
a succession of suitors
vied for her hand in marriage.
One suitor won her heart,
He was comely, peaceful at heart,
and handsome.
He didn't own a house,
but he had a job.
The couple got married
and lived happily.
Everyone said,
"What a lovely couple."

After one year,
a beautiful little girl was born.
The young couple rejoiced.
They built castles in the air
about their little child.
She must be educated
to be a doctor,
to be a blessing to all.
Her first birthday passed,
in a beautiful celebration
of song and dance.
Time swiftly passed by.

Suddenly one day,
her father became sick.
It was diagnosed as cancer.
"No hope," said the doctors.
And her father's life
slowly ebbed away.
Soon, Mother and child
were left all alone.
The young mother said,
"My life is for my child."
The days slowly passed by,
in steady succession,
one after the other.
God led them day by day,
in His abiding protection
and supernatural care.
Mother and child
were satisfied.
God is so faithful,
True to His word,
"As thy faith,
so shall thy strength be."

PRAYER SHAPES THE WORLD

Prayer shapes the world,
The people who pray die,
But the prayer never dies.
Prayer is the key to open heaven.
Mothers prayed and children
were called for His ministry.
Mothers prayed and
children were saved.
A Mother's prayer
never goes in vain.
Pray unceasingly,
Pray in the morning,
noon and evening,
Pray as you breathe.
Prayer is the keynote
of the most sanctified life.
Prayer puts God in
full force in the world.

JOURNEY TO HEAVEN

Wake me up in the morning, Mother,
Tomorrow is our school picnic day,
All our friends join together for the great day,
The boat journey will be great fun.
We will all sing and dance,
Paddle in the river with our hands,
Make paper boats and put it in the water,
All sorts of fun we will have tomorrow.

Mother woke her son up in the morning,
Gave him breakfast and sent him with lunch,
Teachers and students altogether
started the long journey.

Merrily they went, time flew away like wind,
and it was time to return home.
Mothers waited in the school campus,
All of a sudden, news flashed that the boat sank.
Mothers mourned and wept their hearts out,
Ran to the riverside and saw
their children lying motionless.

Precious children went to their Heavenly Father,
Who are we to question our Creator?

A HELPFUL HAND

You and I can drift away
from the love of our Saviour.
Our commitment and love to Christ
can be weakened by the
busy life of this world.
No time to be with Jesus,
No time to care for His loved ones.
Thousands and thousands
are suffering from illness,
From loneliness and old age.
Will you lend a helping hand?
Will you spare a little time for them?
Will you lift them up in your prayers?
Let the love of Christ compel you
to love your brothers and sisters.

THE RIVERSIDE

The river was flowing unceasingly.
On the bank sat a little girl
with a rose in her hand.
Lovely thoughts flooded her mind
of how she and her mother
used to come to the riverside
to wash their clothes.
The little girl always loved to
splash in the water, and at times
she knotted her fishing rod
and was busy fishing.
When the mother finished her washing,
both she and the little girl
would walk side by side,
the child with her fishing net
and a catch of fish,
and the mother with the
newly-washed clothes.
Memories came in one by one,
as the shore was deserted.
She drew so many pictures
in the sand, thinking about
her mother sitting in heaven
beside the loving Saviour.

SANNY - A YOUNG GIRL

Sanny was a little motherless girl.
The villagers loved her,
and she was everybody's Sanny.
Early morning, there she goes
for her daily chores.
She keeps the milk jar
at the door of every house.
She greets the "Mothers."
The last place to deliver
the milk was a tea-shop.
There she stares at
the cakes and cookies
which she dearly loves.
"Mother, where are you
to make the cookies for me?"
She looked for her everywhere.
But she could not find her.
Then suddenly the thought
Flashed into her mind:
"Oh, Mother went to her eternal abode."
She consoled herself thinking
that she would meet her in heaven.

ROCK OF PEACE

You are faithful and unchanging,
Men will change, the world will change,
But your Words never change.
O! Rock of Peace,
Teach us to come and
Hide under Your Rock.
In times of trouble,
You are my Rock.
In times of happiness,
You are my Rock.
All through the storms,
You are my rock.
Saviour, help me to build my life
Upon Your Rock,
The ageless Rock,
The Unchanging Rock.

GO FORWARD

Go forward, march forward,
Like Joshua and Caleb.
Never, never have a defeated spirit,
The Spirit of Moving, abide in us.
Courageously and bravely, march forward,
Sometimes when you feel tired,
Say to yourself "A Little More."
Go a little forward, even if you are weary,
Tired and weary, you see your Saviour.
O! then comes the strength and power overflowing,
With overwhelming joy, you hug your Master,
And then sweetly rest in His bosom.

FAITHFULNESS OF JESUS

I went to a far-away village.
The trecking made me worn-out.
On the way, the flowers
and trees welcomed me.
I saw the beauty of creation
as I trecked.
At last, the little
house was in sight.
I went inside,
and a pretty little
girl ran to me.
She sat beside me.
The beauty in her
was enchanting.
I hugged her,
and smiled at her.
The beauty of Jesus
was shining in her eyes.
Alas, she could neither
talk nor hear.

Then I thought of the
blessings God has given me
and my family. When we see
thousands of children
like this, wait for a moment.
Think of all the blessings
He has given you.
Don't move.
Stay where you are.
Thank the Saviour
with all your heart.
Blessed Redeemer,
Everlasting Father,
thank you for
all Your blessings.
