Search engine optimization is becoming more and more important for local organizations. With more and more people using mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to find things while they are out and about, it’s crucial that your local organization is showing up in the local search engines and ranking well.

Many people think, “I’ve done ‘regular SEO.’ I’m fine, Right?

While local SEO has some similarities to SEO done to improve search rankings in the general organic search results, it is actually significantly different. If you aren’t doing the necessary local SEO tactics, then you’re missing people in your local community who are looking for you.

In this video, we outline the 5 essential elements of local SEO. By doing these five things, you can rank well in both the regular search engines and the local search engines.

To summarize, the 5 essential elements of local SEO are:

  1. On-page optimization
  2. Create, verify, and optimize local listings
  3. Citations
  4. Links
  5. Reviews

Only the first one, on-page optimization, is a part of general, organic SEO.  That’s why we say…

Local SEO has its own unique tactics. If you’re a local organization and not using these local SEO tactics, you’re missing people in your community.

    • Hmmm… I got the point. But My question is Which one is more effective to increase site traffic ?? Local SEO or Normal SEO ??

      • Thanks for reading the post. In the future, please post your comments with your name rather than targeted keywords, so I know your comment is genuine and not simply a link building campaign.

    • Local SEO and Normal SEO both are important to increase traffic and after seeing your video I totally agree with you. Both are useful to optimize your website.

      • Thanks for the comment. Seemed a bit spammy though so the text and link were removed.
