What is “black hat” SEO?
Black Hat SEO is the name given for search engine optimization tactics Google and Bing have specifically warned people not to do. They are dangerous for your website and can get you penalized or banned from the search engines.
I’ve seen plenty of websites who were using black hat SEO techniques and didn’t even know it. They simply didn’t realize that what they were doing was against the guidelines of the search engines. Worse yet, I’ve seen plenty of SEO companies who use these techniques without their clients understanding of the risk to their site.
In this video we discuss several black hat SEO tactics you need to avoid to ensure your site will not get penalized or banned by search engines.
As described in the video, some of the “black hat” SEO tactics to avoid include:
- keyword stuffing
- cloaking
- buying links
- link schemes
It’s important to understand black hat SEO tactics so you don’t intentionally or accidentally use any of them yourself or hire an SEO agency that uses them with or without you knowing. The bottom line is…
Don’t come to the dark side of SEO… or Google will strangle your search traffic. -Paul Steinbrueck
