Over the years, Facebook has gotten into hot water several times for failing to protect users data and privacy. Recently, it announced a change, requiring 3rd party apps that access Facebook page feeds to use “access tokens.”
A new version of the Facebook Feed plugin used in our WP-EZ Church Website Builder has been updated to comply with Facebook’s change.
If you have been using the Facebook Feed feature in WP-EZ to show your Facebook Page’s latest posts on your website, you need to follow the setup instructions to get your feed to work correctly.
We created a new video tutorial to show you how to do this:
For those who prefer written instructions:
1. Login to MyOCC
2. Click to go to the WP-EZ Admin for your website.
3. In the left menu, click “More” > “Social Media”
4. In the left menu, click “Social Media” > “Facebook Feed” (You will be redirected to the Custom Facebook Feed Settings.)
4. Click on the “Login and get my Access Token” button (shown below).
5. A Facebook Login popup window will show, click “Continue” (shown below)
6. You will be redirected to a Facebook Page showing a confirmation popup from “Smash Balloon WordPress” app, click “Continue as…” button (shown below)
7. Another confirmation popup will show about managing your pages, just click “OK” (shown below)
8. You will be redirected back to your WP-EZ Admin Facebook Feed Settings page, but will now show the list of pages you manage. Click on the Facebook Page you want to manage (shown below).
10. It will insert the Facebook Page ID and Facebook Access Token values. Click on the “Save Settings & Clear Cache” button.
You way want to tweak some of the other settings and customization options available to you in the Facebook Feed settings area.
If you didn’t previously have the Facebook Feed on your website, you will need to add the [custom-facebook-feed] short code to the sidebar or page where you’d like it displayed. If you’re using WP-EZ 2.0
If you have any difficulty at all, please let us know by callling 727-723-2454, emailing support (at) ourchurch (dot) com, or using the live chat on OurChurch.Com
Note that as much as we would like to do this for you, you have to create the access token yourself while logged into Facebook.
