The phrase “Jack of all trades, master of none” is a figure of speech used in reference to a person who has dabbled in many skills, rather than gaining expertise by focusing on one.
Often times in life, this is not a bad thing. If you are a worker in a church or small business, you have to perform many different duties, making it beneficial to have moderate skill in several different areas.
However, there are certain areas of our lives that benefit from either being an expert or partnering with someone who is an expert.
I have written many times that I am not an automotive expert. When I try to fix something on my car to save cost, it usually takes me 10x as long for me to do than if I would have taken my car to a mechanic. In addition, sometimes I create more of a problem than the original issue.
This can be the same situation with church website design.
Although you may be able to build your website yourself, sometimes it is better to let a professional guide you and build your website for you.
Sometimes the “Jack of all trades” needs a master.
And if you do have the skill to build your own website, it is still crucial to partner with a like minded hosting company whose goal is helping spread the Gospel of Christ instead of using a secular company that outsources their support and only views your church as another source of revenue.
We have been serving churches and other Christians for over 20 years and want to help you live out your mission online.
If you have a great website and wonderful working relationship with your current website provider, congratulations!
However, if you are struggling with building a website yourself or you are hosting your website with a company that doesn’t care about your ministry, we would love to talk with you.
