Increase Success of Mission Trips with this Simple Step

Written by Mark Steinbrueck

This year, our church will send 10-15 teams on mission trips.

These trips range from 3 day middle school trips to our metro area to 10+ day African and other “undisclosed” destinations.

These trips are life changing for those who go on the trips as well as those who support those going on the trips.

I love the commissioning of these groups as well as hearing the stories after they return.

But how cool would it be to get regular mission trip updates about what happened each day?

This can easily be done via regular, short blog posts.

The posts don’t need to be very long, just a paragraph and a few pictures along with some specific prayer requests.

To get supporters especially engaged, have them subscribe to receive the blog notifications a week or two prior to leaving.

Then write a few blog posts leading up to the beginning of the trip.

That way, they can be praying for the team and feeling the anticipation as the “launch” day approaches.

Also, getting trip updates will increase the likeliness that supporters may go on mission trips in the future.

Blog posts are an easy way for short term mission teams to keep their church updated.
