2017 has been a very exciting year at OurChurch.Com. The OCC team has worked on a variety of custom Christian websites this year and we have noticed there are three design features that are very prevalent in most new website designs.
- Free flowing, full-width designs: In years past, many church websites were designed with a definitive left and right edge. However lately, this boxed design has given way to a free flowing, full width design that doesn’t have a noticeable left or right edge of the website. The content doesn’t necessarily stretch to the edges of the website but the design has an appearance that the website doesn’t end on either side.
- Sticky Navigation Menu: Another newer feature in web design is the “Sticky Navigation Menu”. The old style of navigation menu at the top of the site would disappear as you scrolled down the webpage. However, with the sticky navigation menu, the navigation menu stays at the top of the page so visitors can easily browse from page to page on your site, no matter if they are reading content at the bottom of the website. Click here for an example of a sticky navigation menu.
- Parallax: Parallax design allows for layering of content. Most often, there will be a static image in the background with text or other images put “over top” of the background image. It also allows for a scrolling effect so the background image scrolls up/down at a different speed than the content that is over top. To view an example of parallax, go to https://www.ourchurch.com and scroll down to the section that has the text “We have the Christian church website solution you need!” As you scroll up and down, do you notice that the background image moves at a different rate than the text? Pretty cool, huh!
What do you think about these features of church website design? Would you like to have these on your website? All of these are offered in all of our custom website packages. If you want to get the conversation started, click here for a FREE consultation request.
