I review a lot of websites every day. Want to know the single biggest factor that differentiates good websites from bad websites?
Pictures
Which version of this page do you find most interesting and engaging?
1) Just text
2) Text with an image to the right
3) Text with an image slider above it
Maybe 2 or 3, but not 1, right?
Walt Disney knew what he was talking about when he said…
Of all of our inventions for mass communication, pictures still speak the most universally understood language. -Walt Disney
Using Your Own Photos is Best, but…
We strongly encourage churches, schools, ministries and businesses to take their own pictures and use those pictures of real people who are a part of their organization on their website. It’s more genuine.
But in many circumstances like for blog posts and quote images, stock photos are fine. And in other cases, stock photos are better than no photos, at least temporarily.
Free Stock Photos in WP-EZ
This week, we added a new feature to our WP-EZ Website Builder, that enables you to find beautiful stock photos and add them to your website in just a few clicks. The images come from Pixabay. They are completely free to use and no attribution is required. When editing a page or blog post, you’ll see a “Pixabay” button next to the “Add Media” button.
Here’s a video tutorial we created to help show you how to add a stock photo to a page or image slider.
Note that we cannot control what photos Pixabay includes in their library, and Pixabay is not a Christian site. They don’t allow pornography or anything like that, but you may come across some photos that you consider inappropriate.
What do you think?
- How do you feel about using stock images rather than pictures taken of real people who are a part of the organization?
- Will you use Pixabay stock photos in your WP-EZ website?

Hi Paul! Do you know any other source where I can get some high quality free stock images? A lot of websites claim it’s free, but they are not exactly free. Thanks.
Why? What do you think of Pixabay?
Hey Andre,
Paul already mentioned Pixabay. But there’s other sources: Unsplash, Pixart, Pexels.
I use them all the time! 🙂
BTW, thanks for sharing this post Paul.
Cheers,
Ruben
