As I wrote about a couple of weeks ago, I was involved in a car accident that totaled my car. Fortunately, I was not seriously injured but my car had to be replaced. I found a car that my wife and I though would be best for our family and purchased it last week.
After contacting 6 dealerships, we ended up buying from a dealership that spent the time listening to us, getting to know who we were, and what our needs were. We formed a connection with the salesperson and general manager and will likely contact them when we need a car in the future.
Besides having the car we wanted at a price we could afford, the main reason we bought the car from that particular dealership was because of the connection we developed with the folks there. I find that for certain purchases, it is important that I get to know the person/people I am buying from, and they get to know me as well. It is only when they get to know me and what my needs are that they can offer a product/service that will meet my needs and make me a satisfied customer.
Listening to Your Website Needs
We at OurChurch.Com feel very strongly about this when we are providing custom websites for our clients. When someone contacts us interested in having a website built for them, the initial interaction consists of me asking questions to learn more about them, their organization’s needs, their likes/dislikes, and much more. But the personal interaction doesn’t stop after the customer says, “Yes, I want OCC to build my website!”
- Before we begin building their website, we start with a phone call explaining the whole site building process and creating a content map, which shows all the pages that the client will have on their website.
- During the design phase, we have another conference call with the client so they get the design that will portray the look, feel, and style of their organization.
- After the website is complete, the customer has my and our support team’s phone number so they can call whenever they have any questions.
- Additionally, every 3-4 months we call or email the client asking how they are doing and if there is anything we can do to help them with their website.
Many other website design companies rarely speak with their clients and most interaction is impersonal.
