Yesterday, I wrote about 2 Things that Will Kill Even the Best Social Media Strategy. In that post I wrote that the second of those two is lack of original content and blogging is one of the ways to produce content necessary for good social media marketing.
Meg Cox pointed out in a discussion of the post on LinkedIn:
I agree with you that you need fresh content to make your social media engagement into a robust contribution to the communities you’d like to reach. And if you have a blog that’s integrated into your website, you get an added SEO benefit to boot.
So, let’s think about this… For most organizations, the top two online marketing opportunities are search engine optimization (SEO) and social media marketing (SMM). A blog provides the content needed for both.
Blog posts are essentially the rocket fuel for both SEO and SMM.
Plus, blogs draw links from other blogs/sites (which produce both direct traffic and better search rankings), help to build relationships and engagement with existing and prospective customers, and help to build your reputation as an expert in your field.
Wow!
Some people have suggested blogging may not be as important as it once ways, but I say it’s more important and more powerful than ever. What do you think?

I think you're right!
I haven't looked that much into Google Buzz, but if you recommend it, then I will be using it. Thanks
