Is social media a fad? Or is it the biggest shift since the Industrial Revolution?
I saw this video today. Fittingly, I saw it because Jon, one of our support staff, had posted it to his Facebook profile. Take a look.
As the video points out, social media/networking is not just changing the way people communicate, it’s changing society. It’s changing…
- the way people meet their spouse
- the way people get an education
- the way companies hire
- the way people get news and information
- the way people watch TV
- the way people chose the products and services they use
How has your social media changed your life?
How is your company, your church, or your ministry adapting to the way social media is changing culture and lives?

Social Media is here to stay. In a few weeks I am starting a 6 week Bible study entitled Social Network Ministry. I will be discussing different ways to use Social Network and WEB 2.0 to further the Ministry at our Church, but also give a little background information on these tools. I am very excited about this and I am hoping to Stream it. I am also using your article about Online Churches being like Fast Food, not sure if my members would like the other analogy you used (Online Church = Online Sex).
I am also creating a Wiki for all the information so members of my Bible Study could go back anytime for refresher or add information. I have 4 weeks planned out pretty good right now, and need to do the last two weeks and also add some Bible verses.
Week 1
*
What is Evangelism?
*
What is Social Networking?
*
Why should we combine the two?
Week 2
A perfect mission field? Facebook and Myspace.
Week 3
Tweet Tweet (Twitter and Bloggers)
Week 4
Second Life and Online Churches
Week 5 and Week 6
Not sure yet… I still need to talk about Youtube / Tangle …. I also want to talk about Streaming (which I been working on streaming our sermons each week)… I also would like to do something with digital storytelling.
I am very excited though…
Hey Daniel, that sounds great. I hope you’ll post the Bible study material online and post or send me a link to it. Actually, it would be interesting if you posted it on a blog or on a social networking site in a way that allowed the people in the Bible study to discuss it during the week. I’d be a way to put the learning into practice.

Excellent write-up. Thanks a lot for sharing the information. I was certainly not informed of your blog, but will certainly come back a lot more often at this point. Adding you to my RSS reader.
Here is some inspiring music from our brothers and sisters in South Africa. Turn up your speakers and enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw0VvMg4IRs&fe… You may listen to more inspiring music at my website:
Social media is an important part of our world today. So make good use of it. Do not abuse it.
