I was walking down memory lane and wanted to see if the church matched my memories. I was born here when my Dad was the pastor in 1962.(yes I am that old).

I was excited to see a website for the first church that I attended with my mother. My grandparents were Gerald and Florence Bodeen. My grandma thought me a lot about my family and our history through the church. She passed away in 2001. Thank you for giving our family a home.

On last Tuesday we stopped at the church and were glad to be directed to the Mosher Cemetery. Although we did not find the specific graves we were looking for, we did find lots of other relatives. We were so happy to see the church and meet the current pastor as my 3rd great grandfather William Whitman and his wife were charter members of the Choldbrook Christian Church. William came to Illinois from Kentucky in 1829, founded a congregation there in 1831 that met in homes until the church was built. He was the first pastor and "spoke with eloquence". I have commemorative booklets from many of the celebrations held there in Coldbrook. I would be hapy to correspond with any of the Wallace, Johnson or Whitman descendents.

My husband & I are moving to Chapala, Mexico, in September, so I don't know when I'll get back to Coldbrook. Ellen's son, Grant, (the youngest) will be getting married in September, and my brother, Jim, is in Pekin. Please feel free to contact me, especially if any of mom & dad's friends want to come visit us in the winter for alot warmer weather!! God Bless!!!

03/10/04 My mother & father were married in your church in 1947. I attended Sunday School there while I was growing up. I stopped in and signed the guestbook last summer while attending a family reunion in Monmouth. It sure brought back memories.

Gerald and Marnie Gardner are our friends from serving and living together during WW2. The Coldbrook Church brings back many memories. We knew Gerald and Harold's Dad and I think the church was built about that time. The last time we visited the Gardners, we went to the church and "Heck" played the organ while "Geck" sang for us. Julie, I see you in the guest book. Of course, I haven't seen you since you were a child. I keep in touch with Jill, and Ellen June was named after me. I did see her and the boys not too many years ago. I do not hear from her any more. Your church is so special and beautiful. God Bless.

My cousin Jill (Gardner) Lambert. I too, use to go to Coldbrook Chuch - in fact I use to live right across the highway. I am Julie (Gardner) Land, daughter of Harold Gardner, who use to play the organ every Sunday. Judy Knisely is my step mom. Nice to see a picture of where I grew up and went to church every Sunday. You have a nice web site. Thanks. Julie Land, 1405 11th Street, Silvis, IL 61282, 309-792-2502.
