![]() "El Shaddai" Jewish Midis ![]() Healing and Help for the Wounded Soul Through the Grace of God In Jesus Christ "What's so special about the hem of Jesus' robe in the first place?", you might be asking. Well, let's look at the story. It begins in Mark 5:25.... shall we go there? "There was a woman in the crowd who had a hemorrhage for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal from many doctors through the years and had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better. In fact, she was worse. She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched the fringe of his robe. For she thought to herself, 'If I can just touch his clothing, I will be healed'. Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel that she had been healed! Jesus realised at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, 'Who touched my clothes?' His disciples said to him, 'all this crowd is pressing around you. How can you ask, 'Who touched me?' But he kept on looking around to see who had done it. Then the frightened woman, trembling at the realization of what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and told him what she had done. And he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well.. Go in peace. You have been healed. " (NLT Bible) There is always something symbolic in every story. Something to discover and understand the deeper meaning of. In the Jewish tradition, the males wore a prayer shawl, called a talit. The fringe of that talit was made in such a way that it had the names of God on it. So that when this woman touched the "hem" of Jesus garment she actually touched the very names of God! When any one of us can grab ahold (in our spirit) of Who God is, and get that revelation in our hearts, it is healing to us. For we have in our woundedness and fallen nature lost sight of just Who God is and all that He has done for us. These names are Covenant names, which means that God stands on them and they are unbreakable promises to us of what He is all about! They speak of the very character of God. El Shaddai- God of Covenant Adoni- Master El Elyon- Most High God Jehovah Rapha- My Healer Jehovah Jireh- My Provider Jehovah M'Kadesh- My Sanctifier Jehovah Tsidkenu- My Righteousness Jehovah Shalom- My Peace Jehovah Rohi- My Shepherd Jehovah Sabaoth- Lord of Hosts Jehovah Nissy- My Banner in Battle Jehovah Shammah- The Abiding Presence So you can see, when we can get ahold of all that God is, we can truly find healing and new strength in every situation. To do this, we must not attempt to find him in our minds alone. We must open our very SPIRIT up to His Holy Spirit and let Him come in and be to us all that He has promised that He is. All of the Covenant names are promises to us of provision and help in time of need. They are all based on the provision already made at Calvary through Jesus Christ who died for our sins. ![]() ![]() ![]() on this site came from ![]() ![]()
