Author....Jenny Price (used with permission) There's a lighthouse on the hillside that overlooks the sea When I'm tossed...it sends out a light, that I might see And the light that shines in darkness now will safely leads us o'er, If it wasn't for that lighthouse my ship would be no more. And I thank God for the lighthouse I owe my life to Him For Jesus is the lighthouse and from the rocks of sin He has shone a light around me That I could clearly see... If it wasn't for the lighthouse Where would this ship be? .Song by Ronnie Hinson ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FOR OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN EVERYWHERE I Prayed for You Today Even though I wasn't sure exactly what to say, I talked to God and spoke your name. I prayed for you today. I asked the Lord to give you strength, to calm you from your stress, to free you from the things you fear and bathe your mind with rest. I asked the Lord to help you in the uphill days to come. I asked our precious loving God to complete what He's begun. He whispered in the quiet and filled my heart with peace. He said that you are deeply loved, that His grace will never cease. by Rev. Greg Asimakoupoulos ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. by John McCrae ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Focus is on Jesus My focus is on Jesus there is no one else for me He guides me and leads me through His Word you see. Jesus is my Creator, my Lord, my Savior, and my all And if I pay attention, He will listen to my call. Jesus is the centerpiece of all there is in my life, If only I would seek Him, there would certainly be no strife. When I'm tempted by the Devil and sin comes my way I need to focus on Jesus and ask Him into my heart to stay. When I will only stop to listen to His still small voice I find His grace, His mercy, and then I can rejoice. He's Indescribable, Incomprehensible, and Irresistable too, Everything about Him is satisfying and Oh so true. Jesus is my focus and life is wonderful to behold There is so much to my story and I know it must be told. When my life is over and I meet Him face to face I will kneel before His throne and thank Him for His grace. By Carole Kerr 8/16/02 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ GOD'S BOUNTY I've lived my life where folks are few, where neighbors know all you say and do; but are always there when you're in need, to comfort and help with word and deed. I've had the blessing of a loving wife, who stands by me through storm and strife. I knew the joy when my first son came, since his death I've never felt the same. But God heals the hurt and soothes all pain, and soon you rise and face life again. Now you take time to smell the flowers, and thank the Lord for reviving showers. To enjoy the beauty in all that I see, it all has a special meaning for me. To see the sun rise on our Lord's domain, and know that He will forevermore reign. Now soon I'll cross over that great divide, and there with my Lord I shall ever abide. I'll see my son, and he will know me, and all my loved ones again I'll see. Oh what joy with my Lord I'll share, amidst all the beauty that abounds there. By Dick Dooley 1990 Born April 29, 1911 ~ Died September 26, 1996 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Song to the Lord My God is to be highly exalted and praised, He is my strength, my deliverer, my protector. And as I come before His throne of grace I sing to Him this song of love and devotion: O Lord, You are my God. There is none like You. You bring to me Your inner peace and quietness. In Your mighty right hand there is much power As you lead me to victory against my enemies. I see Your unleashed burning anger as they are consumed, Yet, the greatness of Your majesty shows forth in Your love. Who is like You, O Lord? You are awesome in glory, Majestic in holiness, and Your wonders are to behold. Your unfailing love leads me and Your strength guides me. I praise You as my El-Shaddai, our God Almighty. Lord, You are all that I want and all that I need. You will reign forever and ever in my heart. By Carole Kerr 11/1/01 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ COME AS YOU ARE Jesus says "Come to me, Burdens and all. I know you have flaws, But please hear my call. Come just as you are, You are so special to me. You know that I love you, and I will set you free." Lord, I am listening, My heart is open wide. I hear Your sweet voice so do come inside. "My child, please do trust me, and accept what I give. Here is My heart. As long as you live," Thank You, Precious Lord, For blessing me so, I come humbly on my knees With praises, You know. I worship You with hands held high One day, face to face, We'll meet in the sky. By Carole Kerr July 2001 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Memories Praise the LORD for memories, A remembrance of past blessings. Praise the LORD for all He has done. Has He not forgiven our sins? Has He not healed us of diseases? He has redeemed our lives from the pit, He has satisfied our desires with good. Yet, our memory is selective, And we oftentimes forget. It becomes impressed with burdens And is the keeper of what is meaningful. Praise the LORD for memories It is the library of our mind. Engrave His blessings on our hearts. Remember His compassion and mercy, Remember His great unfailing love, All the promises of the past. Never forget His many blessings. Praise the LORD from the heart. By Carole Kerr 9/9/01 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We'll Survive As a nation we all cry, for those that we have lost As a nation we all mourn, for those not found, still caught Among the steel girders, that once filled the skies Among the dust and debris, now all in ruins lie And yet our hearts are lifted, our eyes not looking down But looking up to our Father, He alone can save us now Flags wave around the country, prayers said and anthems sung All bonded now together, one Nation Under God has begun To heal from the terror, that has so quickly struck One day a peaceful sunset, then awakening to what disrupts A normal night of slumber, into a brand new world One where things must change, or our freedom could unfurl Into the mass destruction, we all can clearly see We must start to rebuild, not just buildings but liberty The enemy sits satisfied, with all that he has done We must stand together, and let him know he hasn't won The pictures tell a story, of the evil in this world But if we look a little closer, we'll see more than fire that curls Reaching ever higher, as smoke fills up the sky We'll see that love abounds, together with God, we'll survive Diane Shore ~ 9/11/01 ![]()
