Hi! My name is Janice Parrish. My maiden name was Janice Perry. I attended the Bethel AOG from the time I was 9 years of age when my family moved to Lincoln Trailer Park on Lincoln Ave. until I graduated from High School in 1970. I remember the very first Sunday that I attended Sunday School at Bethel Assembly of God at the age of 9 years. I was the only girl in an all boys' Sunday School class and Jim Gay was my Sunday School teacher. Rev. Miller was the pastor. Rev. Hare was the pastor after Bro. Miller throughout my years attending Bethel AOG. I've always loved going to church and I am appreciative for Bethel AOG, because I believe it was there that I got my best training. I enjoyed Missionettes with Evelyn Skiles. I also had Sis. Skiles as a Sunday School teacher (which incidentally was an all girls class). Sis. Skiles always showed love in action to her students. She would take us home for spaghetti dinner sometimes on Sunday afternoons. I remember one time she made all of us a dress and another time giving us all Avon as a gift. Childrens church was also special in the little white church building beside the main church building with Sis. Tomilson. I always enjoyed Vacation Bible School and Bethel AOG always had the best Sunday School picnics at Rock State Park! I also enjoyed singing in the choir. Doris Largent was the choir director and Peanut Bolling and Carol Gay played the piano. Carroll Smith led the singing. Judi Moore and Pat Smith played accordians and Paul Smith played the trumpet. I also have good memories of Youth Camp. My sister, Nancy and I sang at a Fellowship Meeting in Benton, MO earlier this month and she shared that she got saved and got the Baptism of the Holy Ghost at the age of 11 years at Bethel AOG. My husband, Rick and I are both in the ministry. Rick is Ordained and I am Licensed with the Full Gospel Churches International. My brother, Robert E. Perry, M.D. is the Medical Director of the Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center at Southeast Missouri Hospital here in Cape Girardeau, MO. He has taken a number of Missions trips ministering to physical needs as well as spiritual needs usually with a team from Lee University (which he is an alumni). He attends Cape First AOG. I would love to hear from some of the Bethel AOG family that I attended church with during my younger years! God bless all of you. There are many others that I also fondly remember. I am thankful that the Lord put me in a church in my younger years where children mattered. Thank you Bethel AOG for having such an impact on my life. Janice
