You want to know words in a language?
What can I do 4 U?
What can I do 4 U?
What a good question that is! If you answer with something doable that is good, wouldn't I be delighted to do it? It should be doable (Win-Win) and not onerous (You win-I loose).
Everyone needs the helps of LOVE. But please don't ask for something that can't be given. James and John wanted special recognition from Jesus. They even got their Mother, Zebedee's wife to ask for the best places of recognition. Jesus told them gently that it was not his decision. All of them would get recognition, but not the particular request. Poor countries ask us, so they will have jobs: What can we do 4 U? Let's not ask poor countries to provide for our greed. Let's be good to them as well. Let's ask them: What can we do 4 U.
Aren't the next phrases friendly?
Come at once, and sit down. - Luke 17:7 Viens vite, assieds-toi. - French Komm, setz dich. - German Vieni subito e siediti. - Italian Ven y siéntate. - Spanish
Sit down quickly. - Luke 16:6 Assieds-toi vite. - French Setze dich schnell hin. - German Siediti subito. - Italian Siéntate pronto. - Spanish
Yes. Please be seated! - Jeremeiah 36:15 Sit down, please Assieds-toi, s'il te plaît. - French Setz dich doch. (anyway)- German Siéntate ahora. (now) - Spanish Siediti. - Italian (no please, now, or anyway...)
Perhaps there is an invitation for others. Have ___,___/(the people) sit down. - Italian

Let me get U something to eat! Genesis 18:5 Most translations make the 'something' = bread. The goal is to fortify U.
During the eating, there is always time for conversation.
a)What's the matter? What's up? b)What d'ya want? (These are words in today's English between friends!) We know people need nutritious food, washrooms, shelter/a room each night, suitable clothes, information, friends, things, justice and a purpose. We size up why people come to see us or why they would continue to stay with us. Often we can tell when people want something, but they may not know yet what they want to say or be uneasy asking.
Often the most pressing need (described in 1 Samuel 24:3 or 4) is: to relieve oneself - English un besoin naturel - French ein natürliches Bedürfnis - German un bisogno naturale - Italian hacer sus necesidades - Spanish (Don't believe the "covered his feet" translations!!! Find a better one!)
You can tell me where the washroom/WC is. In emergency situations gestures suffice. You can often find the appropriate wordings in language phrase books and you can adapt the wording of Deuteronomy 23:12 (often 13 instead) Old Bible translations often have euphemisms, so try to find the best wording.
Here is the full wording of the verse, which is still useful in natural settings. (The following verse instructs us to dig a hole and cover #2 up.) Designate a place outside the camp where you can go to relieve yourself. - Spanish/12
Most people now don't have to "go outside the camp" or go to an outhouse any more. Modern sanitary engineers have various ways of making sewage safe, so we set aside toilet rooms.
So it's good to adapt the wordings. Designate a place...where you can go to relieve yourself. - Spanish/12
a)What's with you? b)What is it you want? b)What is your wish? 1 Kings 1:16 (2 basic translations)a)Qu'as-tu? b)Que désires-tu? - French a)Was hast du? b)Was willst du? - German a)Che hai? b)Che cosa vuoi? - Italian a)¿Qué tienes? b)¿Qué quieres? - Spanish Ko e ha 'au? - TonganWhat you may want may be too general and may take many lifetimes of work, so we need to get more specific: What do you want me to do for you? 2 Samuel 21:4; Matthew 20:2???; Mark 10:36 (pl); Mark 10:51 (sing.); Luke 8:41
(for one listener)- Was soll ich für dich tun? - Spanish Marcos 10:51
(for more than one listener) Was wollt ihr denn von mir? - Norwegian Markus 10:36 I yè mbi sala gnè tèti i? - Sango Marc 10:36 ¿Qué quieren de mí? - Spanish Marcos 10:36There are other variations even in English wordings. But be careful! What "can" I do for you? What do you want? Joshua 15:18; Judges 1:14; 2Ki 2:9 Surely I "can" do many possible actions for U, some of which U may not like or are not good for the world! The "U" may want so much, much more! "U" may ask for the impossible! Maybe U get a practical joke! - French Was kann ich für dich tun? - German (sing. - listener) Mo yè gnè? - Sango ¿Qué quieres? - Spanish"Listen" for the answer. If you don't understand it, you can show or draw. If it is a good want and not evil, then YOU decide if you can or want to help. If it's a God-Given NEED, then find your part in helping. Ex. You may do the good want together. You may not want to help, if the listener can do it easily themselves. You may want to tell the listener where to find help.
Remember we all need: - a body with mind and spirit that is awake, sleeps, eliminates, perspires.... - is supported by air, water (liquids), good food, clothing, - with a family (physical, and/or adopted, honourary, assigned, spiritual,...) - has security and shelter(from rain, from crime...,to sleep, to go to the bathroom, to have work and relaxing places), - has social contact ( has a name, ID, has something to do and the tools, friendship, encouragement,...) - is seeking knowledge and wisdom including the love of God.
I am ..... thirsT !!!!
"I am thirsty." is a life sustaining sentence. When you say this sentence, you can actually get a product that will keep you from dying. These are good words to know when there is a shortage of drinkable liquids.
Jesus said in his darkest hour: I am thirsty. John 19:28; Judges 4:19Ich bin durstig. - German J'ai soif. - French Jeg tørster. - Norwegian Nzala ti nou assala mbi. - Sango Tengo sed. - SpanishHere's help for you! You should not be on your deathbed before you ask for water!
Water should be free anywhere. Jesus has the conviction that water should be free to sustain life. Just look at the last chapter of Revelations! So we should offer it freely and generously.
We can use these life giving words: Here is water. Acts 8:36 水 = water - Chinese Evo vode. - Croatian Voici de l'eau. - French Da ist Wasser. - German C'è dell'acqua. - Italian Oto woda. - Polish вот вода. - Russian Aquí hay agua. - Spanish İşte su. - Turkish
We have to pay for many other drinks. Perhaps more for cool drinks on a hot day. More for specialty drinks. And more for vintage drinks. This seems fair, especially since we all should be entitled to earn a living. (Given free by choice is good too, of course!) If your body makes you feel thirsty, drink wholesome liquids. If your body makes you feel thirsty all the time, you should have yourself checked for DIABETES!
If your soul is thirsty, you can read the Bible and ask what it means.
If your mind is thirsty for knowledge and wisdom, study nature, what wise people know and the Bible.
When you are thirsty, you can pray for yourself and indicate politely, "I'm thirsty." Then you might truly quench your thirst, even in "Samaria". The surprise is what you'll get! Perhaps water at the well or wine at a wedding!
You might even find a loving and generous SPOUSE!
Pray about quenching liquids and the types who give you water freely or wine happily on a happy occasion.
However, if you are given vinegar on a hyssop stick, stay away from that type! That type did not pass YOUR private close relationship TEST! Pray for those negative even sadistic types.
If you get nothing, ask someone else. Pray about all that and that kind of busy or ungenerous type of people too.
Give us bread! Genesis 47:15 and the Lord's Prayer (Give us food! - alternative translation) Na jep bukë! - Albanian Donne-nous du pain! - French (Bitte) gib uns Brot! - German Dacci del pane! - Italian da nobis panes - Latin Gi oss brød! - Norwegian Daj nam chleba! - Polish Dà-nos pão! - Spanish Ge oss bröd! - Swedish
May you truly quench your thirst. May you satisfy your God-given hunger. May you fulfill the true desires of your heart. I ask this for you in Jesus Christ's name of the Creator-Father.
(Note to myself - Photo page - add "I am thirsty" card)
To get what one person and others like him/her need, there may be a third person who needs to give other instructions. One knowledgeable person will indicate this person and may say:
Do whatever _____/he tells (all of) you. John 2:4 Faites ce [que ____/qu'il] vous dira. - French Tut, was _____/er euch sagt. - Spanish *************************************************************** Jezebel, princess of the Sidonians, married Ahab. Living in a port city, she knew a few words in many languages and learned her husband's language better.
Can you imagine her asking Naboth, "What can I do 4 U?" Can you imagine her asking that question without a self-seeking ulterior motive? Can you imagine Ahab asking that?
Did these parents teach their daughter Athaliah, who became Queen, to ask this question often? I think you can imagine that they would not have modelled the "serving" way of life.
