You want to know words in a language?
What is U-r name?
Someone may greet you in another language, maybe extending a hand and say something like:
I am G______.

So now you want to introduce yourself...
You can follow their example or Gabriel's and Jonah's.

Even God identifies. "I am ...(who I am)." So you can follow God's example.
God identified to Moses in Exodus 3:14 by starting with
"I am ________."
Je suis_______. - French
Ich bin _______. - German
Jeg er ______. - Norwegian
Mbi yèké ______. - Sango
Jag är _______. - Swedish
Yo soy ______. - Spanish
Ako si _____. - Tagalog
When we are introduced and we want to communicate, we can do the same.

a)How are you? b)Are you well? 2 Samuel 11:11
The first translation will get answers like: Good, bad, so-so.
The second translation will get answers like: Yes. No. So-so.
a) Wie geht es Dir? b) Geht es Dir gut? - German
b) Vas-tu bien? b) Te portes-tu bien? - French
b) Stai bene? - Italian
b) Går det dig vel? - Norwegian
- Russian
a) ¿Cómo estás? b) ¿Te va bien? - Spanish
More key sentences are:
I am _________(name). Luke 1:19/(Exodus 3:14)
I am __________(nationality). Jonah 1:9
I worship _________(name of God). Jonah 1:9

To indicate the key sentences in other languages:
Look up the other language wordings with the Bible references and make a good guess as to what may be the required wordings you want. Asking and comparing texts helps. Soon you should be able to communicate this vital information.

"I am Gabriel." is found in Luke 1:19 among other words.
So check out Luke 1:19 in English and the other language.

Click the link, enter the passage Luke 1:19 on the left side and search!

May God be your best teacher, so you will remember how to identify yourself. May you learn to understand other people who identify themselves.

You can also ask for the listeners name, since you probably had a hard time to understand and learn it the first time.
What is your name?
Graphic to come! Until then you can find the key words in any language bible with the reference.

The key question here is:

"What is your name?"
Mark 5:(9); Luke 8:(30)

We can be grateful to God...
that we are made in His image...
that we all have a name...
including a heavenly one.

When Jesus asks, "What is your name?" true problems melt away, since He is on the case.

Such an everyday question...
"What is your Name?"

But it's the beginning of many a friendship.
It is a question on every census.
It is asked when we are admitted to a school, a hospital or a prison.

People who don't ask this question, miss out.

Let us pray that we are truly interested every time we ask this key question.
Let us pray for those who are denied their names for one reason or another.

When Jesus asked this question, He found the real human being, made in His image, underneath the Legions. The miracle of this sentence is that He truly healed the human being and that He can heal us too.

If U wish to answer, "What is your name?", please e-mail us or leave a message in the Guestbook on the Start here... page.

Introductions
Often you are not alone. Then it is polite to introduce those with you and maybe to say something about them. Maybe their name, profession etc.

You can also introduce your family with pictures.

"This is my son." Luke 17:5
Celui-ci est mon fils. - French
Dies ist mein Sohn. - German

Questions..questions...questions....

asking THEM questions Luke 2:46
LES interrogeant - French
LEUR posant des questions - French
SIE befragen - German
IHNEN Fragen stellen - German
pondendo LORO delle domande - Italian

Shall I hide from ______ what I am about to do? Genesis 18:17

- Spanish
That depends...

I will also ask (all of) you a question. Tell me,____. Luke 20:3
French - Je vous adresserai aussi une question. Dites-moi, ______.
German - Ich möchte euch etwas fragen. Sagt mir, _______.
Italian - (Anch')io voglio farvi una domanda. Rispondetemi. ______.
Sango - Mbi yè ti hounda i na mbèni tèné oko nga. I fa na mbi ________.
Spanish - Voy a hacerles una pregunta a ustedes. Díganme: ______.
The world revolves around questions. Words of questions are key and powerful. Be wise about yours. "Why were the old days better than these?" is often an unkind, unproductive question to ask.

It is not wise to ask such questions. Ecclesiastes 7:10
Italian - Non è saggio fare una tale domanda.
Sango - Mo gui nda ti tèné so na lègué ti ndara pèpé.
Spanish - Nunca hay sabiduría en esta pregunta.
Other questions bring answers which make the world a better place.
It is wise to ask such questions.
With wisdom you can change the above phrase from Ecclesiastes 7:10 to mean its opposite.
Actually the very same questions can be used for very good to very evil purposes.
The question "Why were the old days better than these?" can be a good one if the answers help us improve the world today.
An example can be in the area of accident study, when newly identified prevention stategies can save lives.

Every reporter and detective asks the W5.
Who, what, when, where, and why.
and a few more such as: whose, how, how many, how much, which one(s), how often, how blue, etc.

But really and truly, language learning starts with a basic SIMPLE question.

Can U guess it?
Well, here's a hint for the question beaut.

This is the question Adam had a lot that drives every parent of a baby CRAZY when following his example in learning to NAME EVERYTHING!

Wellllll, what izzzz it? Can you name it?

Another hint:
Baby just grunts, says aeh or points.

All this means the same as:

What is it(or this or that)? Exodus 16:15
Wat is dat? - Dutch
Qu'est-ce que c'est? - French
Was ist das? - German
Che cos'è? - Italian
Hvad er det? - Norwegian
Co to jest? - Polish
So gnè? - Sango
¿Qué es esto? - Spanish
Vad är det här? - Swedish
Ano kaya ito? - Tagalog
This bible question will enable U to learn to NAME anything U can point to or draw in the language U are interested in, as long as U have a patient teacher who knows the answers. Adam's naming question to God and himself is not recorded. But - it somehow is, long after Adam, when in Exodus a new food had to be named. Do you know what it is*? See the answer at the bottom of the page.
