What We Believe and Why
Being led by the Holy Spirit of God we publicly and without shame confess these things:
1. There is no salvation outside of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
2. Baptism by immersion is only for those who have placed saving faith in the finished work of Christ.
“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized…” Acts 2:41a
3. Church membership, baptism, the keeping of good works, taking of sacraments, etc., cannot save or keep a true believer in Christ.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9
4. Good works are the sure sign of a changed life.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
“ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:” John 10:27
5. Bible salvation is eternal.
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” John 10:28
6. We are not to fashion our lives after the manner of this present world’s system.
“Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:” Galatians 1:4
“As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:”
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;” I Peter 1:14,15
7. Men and women are to live chaste modest lives.
“In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;” 1Tim.2:10
“But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. “ 1 Corinthians 11:5
8. Worldly entertainment is not for the child of God.
“I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.” Psalm 101:3
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. “ Colossians 3:16
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15
“Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 1 Thess. 5:22
9. All who come to Christ for genuine salvation are made members of his body automatically and local churches or assemblies are gatherings of his children.
“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.“ 1 Corinthians 12:13
“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” Ephesians 4:4-6
10. Love of Christ, other believers, and all men is a sure mark of one of Christ’s disciples.
“If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.” 1 Corinthians 16:22
“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” John 13:35
11. God's word, the bible, is pure and preserved in the King James Version.
The words of the LORD [are] pure words: [as] silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." Psalm 12:6,7
"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." Matthew 24:35
Before their were denominations, Calvinists or Arminians, sects and “isms,” was the pure and lovely Bride of Christ. It is our desire to assemble, worship Christ in Spirit and in truth, learn of or our Gentle Saviour, make disciples, and show the love of God to a lost and dying world. It is our conviction that Christ is soon returning and our time here is short.
