Pilgrim Believers Church
Home/House Church
Not too long ago, my dear wife wrote down some thoughts about home church/house church. It was so well stated, I just wanted to share it with those who care to read.

2Co 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

Php 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

Php 2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Php 3:16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

For those out there looking for a church to raise your family in, be careful where you take your family, I spoke with a young lady the other day that told me her pastor and youth group is always putting down her fathers conservative views and tries to get his children to do other wise. I have seen this attitude ( undermining or questioning what the parents teach their children) in the churches, even in the Charity and Mennonite, and ( born again ) Amish church. This is poison.

Youth are searching for truth and how to structure their future, and how to become the man or woman God wants them to be, and how to fit in this world. When a pastor or youth pastor or church members undermine what a godly parent is teaching their children, this can have a very negative effect on the teen. They begin to doubt their parents decisions and judgment and begin to look up to the ''nice brethren '' around them at church and take their advice and council instead.

It is important to find a like minded group of believers, If you cannot find like minded believers and you cannot home church, you could attend a small country church ( most of the time they sing out of the hymn book, ( and do not have beaty music ,) or big programs , just a heart felt message. Maybe your family can be an encouragement and good example to them, not expecting them to change , that way you wont be too disappointed. Be very careful with your children, and them mingling at church socials, or after church, you should have family rules, and guidelines, and stick with them, have your children stay together, or stay close by you so you can hear their conversations. There is safety in that.

We home church, my husband is a preacher and feeds us well, we are willing to be patient and wait on the Lord to send like minded families.

Some might argue you are not going to find a perfect church, and I would agree in mans terms ...no church is perfect. But... in Gods term of perfect, which means mature, I believe... yes we will find or start a gathering of mature brethren meeting together to glorify the Lord.

A church should have a ''core group'' of ( perfect) meaning mature in the Lord brethren, ( and there will be not mature ( perfect) brethren in a church too, we know this...this is common sense.

We have not found a church in our area that has a few ''core group... brethren with godly lifestyles''. So we decide to church at home, we visit other churches for fellowship and to minister.

Remember the Lord builds His church, it is not up to us. We must be patient, God will bring people together for His purpose. We must raise our family, and teach them to honor the Lord and be patient and content.

We know quite a few families across America that we would church with, but they have jobs, and homes, and family, and moving is not an option.

At one time for many many years we searched, and was willing to move anywhere in America or beyond to find godly fellowship, and we had a large family, which makes a move and relocation hard, but we were willing to move for the sake of our family needed a good church.

In 2005 after over a 10 year search to find a good church the Lord prompted us to buy property, and settle down in a town where we knew no one, and far away from family and friends. Humanly speaking this sounds crazy, but the Lord knows what He is doing, and we must be patient and wait on Him, His timing is perfect and His ways are good.

So we church in our home. We have visited churches in our community to meet the christian folks in our town and they are sweet but we cannot raise a family there.

1Co 16:19 The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house.

Rom 16:5 Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.

Act 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

Col 4:15 Salute the brethren which are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church which is in his house.

Our church ( which so far is just our family meeting together to worship the Lord ) is made up of 6 born again believers, who all are a witness for Christ when in town and in our community. We are happy, vibrant, growing christians, seeking the Lord and learning to trust Him more, and forsake our selfish ways.

I wrote this post to encourage those who are out there searching for a good church to raise their family in. For those who are churching at home be patient, and serve the Lord where you are at.

Blessings to everyone!

Love, ~ sister Darlene ~
