Remebering our troops at Christmas...A Safe And Silent Night
![]() Hiding in a foxhole all alone Thousands of miles away from home. A soldier wonders if anyone cares As he bows his head to say a prayer. Dear Lord, I ask that Americans remember our troops today You see it gets mighty lonely being so far away. Many a days we wait for mail Only to find it to no avail. No letters, no joy, no comfort or cheer Only war sounds ringing in our ears. Have people forgotten the red, white and blue And those who defend her so loyal and true? Lord, I wish I was home tonight Holding my wife and children tight. More then that I'd rather honor my call To defend the rights of one and all. Yes Lord, it gets mighty lonesome at times Especially when those Christmas bells chime. Just a card or a note will do Letting us know that they think of us too. Lord, let them stop to say a prayer Asking that you keep us in your care. And as I sit and pray tonight Lord, grant to us a safe and silent night. Author: Gloria J.
