Eat that which is good

By: Rev. Ruby Anderson

Isaiah 55:1-3

55:1
Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

55:2
Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

55:3
Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

The KJV Strong's Version-
cross references-Matt.13:44,Rev.3:18

In Isaiah 55:1-3 The Lord is instructing his people to buy food and milk and wine with no price, what is this food and milk to which the Lord is referring?

The food and milk and wine he is referring to are the word of God, and a relationship with God and His Holy Spirit.

The Lord is saying to fill your spirit and soul with the Knowledge of God , the way you fill your physical hunger with food and drink.

To drink of the waters of the Holy Spirit and to hunger and thirst after God , to saturate your spirit with the word until it fills you. And to have a right standing with God brings a satisfaction no amount of food or wine could ever bring you.

Then in verse two the Lord says "Hearken diligently unto me, and eat that which is good". In verse three he says"
Incline your ear, and come unto me.Hear and your soul shall live.

Just as your body needs food to be healthy and strong , so your spirit needs nourishment . That nourishment comes from studying Gods word and praying to the Lord daily building your self up on your most Holy Faith , being obedient to the leadership and direction of Gods Holy Spirit.Trusting in God to see you through the trials and storms in your life .

Strengthening yourself and your faith and innermost being by filling yourself spiritually with Gods word and prayer.

Many times in our lives we get busy with the everyday things around us and don't fill ourselves with Gods word and prayer , then trials come and we pray for strength, and sometimes God is saying strengthen yourself ,through my word and through prayer. If we keep ourselves filled with Gods word and arm our defenses with prayer , Our strength increases day to day , our faith also increases and our trust in God and in his love and mercy and protection.

There is nothing wrong with praying for God to strengthen you , but we each have a responsibility to study Gods word and spend time in prayer strengthening ourselves, hearkening diligently unto the Lord, Inclining our ear to hear , that we may live.
