MISSION NEWS

During Holiday seasons, many families in our community may not look upon this time of the year with the same joy and cheerful smiles that many of us will feel. This time of the year presents hard challenges and stresses for families who needs to make tough decisions, such as food and heat over gifts for their children and spouses. Wouldn't it add so much to your happiness if you knew that you were going to make these choices a bit easier for a single mom or a family caught up in paying for higher fuel bills this winter? Well...you can give such a warm and caring gift. We will be collecting donations of toys, gift cards, new clothing for the cold weather and monetary contributions to be given to the Covenant to Care program. These items will stay in our community (yes even some right here in Franklin) so please open your hearts this season to help your neighbors. All items must arrive at the church by December 11th. Thank you and God Bless All of you. Some suggested items are listed below but all items are welcome...

Toys for children of all ages

0-1 infant crib toys, mobiles

2-4 toddler learning toys (learn to walk, talk, read)

5-9 middle aged toys such as stuffed animals, books, board games, Barbie dolls, legos, dolls, race cars, train sets, etc

10+ adolescent/teen items such as posters, jewelry, electronic games, gift cards, radios/DVD players

Warm weather clothes/items for adults and children

new hats, gloves, scarves

new coats and boots

new blankets/comforters

Gift cards (in 20 to 50$ denominations)

Wal-Mart, Stop and Shop, Big Y, Target, Book stores, Malls, etc

Share with families served by our Covenant to Care social worker Paulette Marquis and her co-workers. Bring gifts for children (and adults if you wish) to our church by Sunday December 11. Gifts of food and money are also useful.

Other ways of giving through the church this holiday season are The Christmas Fund offering which helps retired ministers living on limited incomes.
