Section 1: Servants and Employees
Please pray for those that work for others and their safety.
Pray that none will go missing. Pray about God's plans.
Onesimus had been a worker slave for Philemon. He ran away, changed his ways. Paul wrote him a reference letter.
2396 - Vouching for a rehabilitated runaway...
An interesting reference letter
Jacob was a relative of Laban. Jacob indentured himself to work for many years for the right to marry Laban's daughter.
Laban took advantage of any situation and obligated Jacob further.
Laban did not consider Jacob a beloved son and thought that everything, including Jacob, was really HIS.
Jacob had to run away and have an enquiry on neutral soil, before he could leave Laban's oppression.
But it meant that Laban was separated from his daughters and grandchildren. Laban accepted that they would be missing in his life, as he left camp first in the morning.
2555 - Jacob was missing!
Laban pursued him for 7 days and caught up with him.
Could there be former servants and employees among the "human loot"?
2587 Missing human loot
Which of you will listen to this or pay close attention in time to come? Isaiah 42:23
The guest house, where his master was staying, was surrounded by a gang.
The male servant was safe and not raped only because the wicked men of the city did not seem know about his existence or because they did not value him for some reason.
The old man did not reveal his existence to the gang members. The guest did not reveal his existence to the gang members.
2590 - 2 out of 3 travelers saved by friendly city man!
One was gang raped and left for dead by some of the wicked men of the city!
The soldiers who killed the innocents were in the employ of Herod the king. Were they afraid not to follow orders or did they even enjoy their terrible task?
2607 A voice was heard...they are no more.
Herod's unavoidable order and the innocents.
Pharaoh considered the midwives in his realm his service. He ordered them how to fulfill their civic duty. Well, they didn't listen the way he "would have liked it".
2608 Why have you done this? Why did you let the baby boys live?
Baby Moses and his life conspirators who all offered: "Take this baby."
Employees of the state--the soldiers at the cross--and maybe the crossmaker(s) and the nailmaker(s)added their little part in bringing Jesus to the cross. Jesus was "missing" during the trials, the cruxifixion, because he was not fully available to Mary and the others.
2623 Mary was at a distance when Jesus was dying. Jesus' words were recorded. He forgave many. Mary must have been told. (Missing gamblers too!)
Naaman's wife had a servant girl. She had been taken captive. She was kind and brought blessings on the family she served. The blessing was returned in her case. 2624 Missing child with no say had quite some eloquence in another tongue!
She was trusted and blessed the household of her owners. Remember Joseph who was bought!

What did the fellow beggars think of the cured blind beggar, who had been blind from birth?
Did they seek Jesus too?
2515 - "He's old enough" missing person? Ask him -he can answer for himself.
It's not impossible. Don't give up! Ask neighbours and travellers. Look in key locations.
Jacob had family that worked with him under Laban, who knew Laban's possesiveness.
When there was a two family council regarding Jacob and Laban, Laban could not count on them to support Laban, because they knew what Jacob felt and they did not want their situation to get worse under a despot. Perhaps Laban had to treat them better after Jacob left.
Co-workers have to leave sometimes for conditions to improve.
2555 - Jacob was missing!
Laban pursued him for 7 days and caught up with him.
Could there be co-workers or colleagues among languishing "human loot"?

Elisha had "worked" with the man who died and who had creditors trying to take away his children (to be missing).
The widow went to see the co-worker and got help. Character witnessing would also help.
2591 Elisha wasn't always around...when creditors came for children.
Any truly persistent widow with an adversary would also have a judge and ally.
The soldiers who committed the baby killings for Herod were colleagues. They had joined the military for many reasons. They were obeying for many reasons.
Did they repent of their deed? God does forgive even this deed.
2607 A voice was heard...they are no more.

Pharaoh's daughter had servants who were co-workers to each other. They witnessed Moses' adoption. They would know about Moses intimately in the future.
2608 Why have you done this? Why did you let the baby boys live?
Baby Moses and his life conspirators who all offered: "Take this baby."
Naaman was a leader. He must have had many workers at his home. A personal servant girl for his wife. Others in the kitchen. Others looking after the clothes, the shopping...
What was the servant girl's relationship to her co-workers?
It must have been good. Perhaps the servant girl recommended captives she knew and cared about for any openings! 2624 Missing child with no say had quite some eloquence in another tongue!
She was trusted and blessed the household of her owners. Remember Joseph who was bought!

Philemon had owned and employed Onesimus who ran away. He was "missing" to him until he received this "introductory" letter.
Would he believe Onesimus was a changed man?

The blind man, who was a beggar and was cured by Jesus, was or had to seem to be "missing" to his parents for maximum pity from donors.
He was either self-employed or belonged to a group of beggars.
2515 - "He's old enough" missing person? Ask him -he can answer for himself.
It's not impossible. Don't give up! Ask neighbours and travellers. Look in key locations.
Laban was an indentured employer to Jacob. He treated him as a possession. Result: some "missing" people.
2555 - Jacob was missing!

The guest and his concubine, employers of a male servant with whom he was travelling, did not reveal his existence to a gang of wicked men who wanted sex with the male guest.
The host and his employers saved his life by their silence.

Herod was employer of those soldiers who killed the baby boys in Bethlehem. What an order to give! Did Herod truly repent of his deed? We might say that he probably didn't! But God can forgive even his jealosy and murder with repentance.

Her arrangement meant that Moses would not go "missing"

When Jesus was missing to his mother during the arrest periods and at the cross...self-employed people were around. Simon of Cyrene was visiting the city with his 2 sons. He was grabbed and couldn't do his business while he carried the cross. Some self-employed people may have helped make the cross or the nails. Who could allocate their time to be in a crowd better than self-employed people?
2623 Mary was at a distance when Jesus was dying. Jesus' words were recorded. He forgave many. Mary must have been told. (Missing gamblers too!)
Naaman was the leader of an army that took captives. He had the job to find "employers" for the captives, otherwise they would only be mouths to feed. Families had been split up and many people were looking for "missing" people. He became the employer of a servant girl through his wife. 2624 Missing child with no say had quite some eloquence in another tongue!
She was trusted and blessed the household of her owners. Remember Joseph who was bought!
