Stories about witnesses or lack of witnesses...
Pray for other evidence that will prove truth.
There are witnesses in Jonah's story...
the reluctant sailors who threw him overboard...
the boat ticket seller for Tarshish...
and of course the silent whale...
3041 - Jonah ran away!
An urgent call to God for Nineveh-types and runaways.
The parents of the blind beggar that was cured by Jesus became "star witnesses" with the Pharisees.
The blind beggar was a witness himself.
And others that the Pharisees must have called.
2515 - "He's old enough" missing person? Ask him -he can answer for himself.
It's not impossible. Don't give up! Ask neighbours and travellers. Look in key locations.
Jacob's situation with Laban did not improve until he ran away and asked for a two family enquiry. He was angry Laban looked for the family idols among his things.
He was his own witness before the families. They, the members of both families, in turn were witnesses to the decision they all made regarding Jacob and Laban, their families and possessions.
There seem to have been no witnesses, except God, when Laban asked for a solemn promise to treat his daughters well. Either one was responsible for this part being part of the Bible.
2555 - Jacob was missing!
Laban pursued him for 7 days and caught up with him.
Could there be witnesses among "human loot"? Witnesses that could not have be shut up any other way?...

Which of you will listen to this or pay close attention in time to come? Isaiah 42:23
The woman thought "the gardener" might be a witness to where her dead and missing friend was taken.
This gardener was resurrected Jesus himself. The witness listened and asked questions to console.
2588 - Not really missing!?
Reassuring words when someone important just has to leave for a short while.
Mary and Joseph looked for witnesses regarding Jesus and his whereabouts when he was 12.
They exhausted the witness pool and knew he was not in the caravan going home from Jerusalem.
In Jerusalem they retraced their steps and also looked for witnesses who saw Jesus in the previous few days.
One may have said, "Go look in the synagogue among the teachers."
2589 - Jesus went missing when he was 12!
Go and make a search...with care.
Who were the witnesses to the concubine's death. Maybe noone visually. Maybe noone heard her.
The gang members saw her being abused and left for dead. Any other witnesses kept low for fear of being abused themselves.
Maybe someone in the house heard her whimpers. Then they were auditory witnesses. Maybe some witnesses did not think she would die.
Maybe some witnesses thought they would help later, when the coast was clear and safe.
Who were the witnesses to the events leading up to her death...The surrounding of the house, the stay in the city square? Many people.
2590 - 2 out of 3 travelers saved by friendly city man!
One was gang raped and left for dead by some of the wicked men of the city!
The husband was a God-fearing man, yet creditors were coming to pick up his children after his death.
The debts might be trumped up. True witnesses would be needed.
2591 Elisha wasn't always around...when creditors came for children.
Any truly persistent widow with an adversary would also have a judge and ally.
There were many witnesses to Herod's fulfillment of the order to kill the innocents. The soldiers, the mothers, the fathers, the grandparents, the older siblings, the other town people, the travelers, those burying the babies etc. But Herod himself was NOT A WITNESS!!!
2607 A voice was heard...they are no more.
Herod's unavoidable order and the innocents.
Pharaoh called the midwives as witnesses.
Miriam was witness regarding her brother's safety.
Miriam and her mother were witnesses about Pharaoh's daughter looking after Moses.
There were other witnesses who keep people from being kidnapped.
2608 Why have you done this? Why did you let the baby boys live?
Baby Moses and his life conspirators who all offered: "Take this baby."
When Jesus was dying and "out of reach" for Mary and the other believers, there were many witnesses. There were many because it was a public event. There were witnesses of many walks of life. Believers and non. There were witnesses after the fact. Those that took him down and buried him. Those that saw the resurrected Jesus.
2623 Mary was at a distance when Jesus was dying. Jesus' words were recorded. He forgave many. Mary must have been told. (Missing gamblers too!)
Naaman's wife's servant girl knew about God's healing power through Elisha. She was so convincing to her lady, that she must have been a witness to at least one of his healings or she trusted a witness of a healing in order to tell of it. 2624 Missing child with no say had quite some eloquence in another tongue!
She was trusted and blessed the household of her owners. Remember Joseph who was bought!
