FAITH
And Jesus said unto them, "Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place: and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. - Matthew 17:20 (a grain of mustard seed is very small, so we do not need a lot of faith to see results) What is faith? - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. - Hebrews 11:1 But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. --- The dictionary defines faith as... a trust; belief; belief without proof; religion; promise; loyalty; constancy.. I like Hebrews 11:1 definition better. FAITH AT WORK: By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. -Hebrews 11:7 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. - Hebrews 11:8 continue with Hebrews 11 verse 9... By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise. Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. -Heb. 11:11 >.....continue to read Hebrews 11 to learn about the necessity of faith, work of faith and those who died in faith. The work of faith is to do the will of God even though you appear to be the only one doing it. Let me ask you, are you the only Christian in your house? In your neighbourhood? where you work? In that small town? God's people have always been in the minority, numbers matter not. Noah was the only one at his time. Elijah felt that way. "I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts, because the children of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant, thrown down Thine altars and slain Thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away." - 1 Kings 19:14 David felt all alone also - "I have a most gracious and all sufficient friend in Thee." Let David's words be our prayer at times of loneliness, feelings of desolation, trouble, sickness, slander, sin. Cry out unto the Lord and seek His mercy toward us when we too feel rejected and downcast and realize that He has not forsaken us and He is not far away when we His children walk in His truth. If the devil pursues you and tells you you are not a Christian, it is the work of faith to call him the liar that he is. Go on, push on toward the mark living and working for Christ Jesus and glorifying His name in your every word and thought and deed remembering that greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.
