Missing People Bible Stories and Prayer
Stories about pressure and luck in groups...
Section 1: Stories about gangs, crowds and pressure groups...
Section 2: Stories about gambling, luck and casting lots...
=============================================================
Pray about groups and group dynamics. Pray for those in groups that want to do God's will.
Pray for times when bad behaviour gets out of hand. Pray for group safety. Pray for good purposes for groups.

Jonah was on the boat going away from Nineveh. The sailors who were afraid made up a gang.
3041 - Jonah ran away!
An urgent call to God for Nineveh-types and runaways.

The Pharisees were a group that could assert a lot of pressure.
They questioned the cured blind beggar and the parents of the blind beggar and others too to get reports favourable to their cause.
They wanted to know more about Jesus and how they could find an angle they could exploit.
2515 - "He's old enough" missing person? Ask him -he can answer for himself.
It's not impossible. Don't give up! Ask neighbours and travellers. Look in key locations.

Could there be "human loot" among gang members? Perhaps they were blackmailed?
2587 Missing human loot
Which of you will listen to this or pay close attention in time to come? Isaiah 42:23

A nasty gang surrounded the old man's house when he had a guest. Gang members had seen the guest trying to camp out at the city square.
They demanded he produce the guest for sexual purposes. They abused a sexually knowledgeable concubine all night and left her almost dead.
But they did not know the guest had a male servant--they could have asked for him.
They did not demand the virgin daughter, even though she was offered.
The gang members became active at night...meaning they slept during the day.
They did not fear the population. The old man might have known some members.
2590 - 2 out of 3 travelers saved by friendly city man!
One was gang raped and left for dead by some of the wicked men of the city!

Caravan members make up a group...
Joseph was sold to Ishmaelites in a caravan that went to Egypt.
Mary and Joseph were in a pilgrimage caravan every year at Passovertime going to Jerusalem.
One year, when Jesus was 12, he went missing. The members were helpful because they definitely found out that Jesus was not in the caravan, releasing Joseph and Mary to retrace their steps to Jerusalem.

Creditors came to pick up the children. They came at least in twos to capture the children.
2591 Elisha wasn't always around...when creditors came for children.
Any truly persistent widow with an adversary would also have a judge and ally.

The soldiers that rounded up babies under 2 years of age for Herod made up an efficient government sanctioned "gang". There was escaping before they came. Then maybe bribery....or another trump helped. But Rachel kept weeping.
2607 A voice was heard...they are no more.
Herod's unavoidable order and the innocents.

Pharaoh wanted his people to remain the dominant group, so he decided he had to keep his slaves from usurping that position.
So he reasoned that the "adult men" had to be "missing" in the future, by eliminating baby boys who could grow up.
2608 Why have you done this? Why did you let the baby boys live?
Baby Moses and his life conspirators who all offered: "Take this baby."

The crowd wanted Jesus dead before Pontius Pilate. At the cross, some of those people were missing. There were still some accusers that were not going to miss anything and came to sneer.
The crowd preferred Barabbas, the murderer. How many people disappeared because of him and went "missing", because the crowd chose him?

Another crowd was at the cross. A mixed crowd of believers and those that wanted him dead. A crowd that couldn't change what was happening, because an order had been given.
2623 Mary was at a distance when Jesus was dying. Jesus' words were recorded. He forgave many. Mary must have been told. (Missing gamblers too!)

An army is a crowd. Naaman was in charge of an army that took captives. The captives were used. Some were distributed as servants to the elite. Naaman took a girl to be servant girl for his wife. He contracted leprosy. And he listened to this believer girl talk about Elisha's healing power. He didn't just dismiss her ideas. A leader does not dismiss the "enemy" as stupid. That was to be a blessing for him.2624 Missing child with no say had quite some eloquence in another tongue!
She was trusted and blessed the household of her owners. Remember Joseph who was bought!

God bless you today and always, since you are concerned about missing people! Please ask Jesus Christ, the Son of God, to come into your life fully.

Section 2: Stories about gambling, luck and casting lots...

Pray about those that believe in luck, lucky items etc. that they will know Jesus Christ who can forgive even those that gambled his clothes.

The sailors on Jonah's ship cast lots to see whom they would throw overboard.
3041 - Jonah ran away!
An urgent call to God for Nineveh-types and runaways.

Loot can be gambled away. Human loot too.
2587 Missing human loot
Which of you will listen to this or pay close attention in time to come? Isaiah 42:23

The father had died. He had been a good father. Creditors came to take the children.
Could father have gambled? Are they accusing father falsely? (In this story he didn't because the widow appealed to Elisha.)
2591 Elisha wasn't always around...when creditors came for children.
Any truly persistent widow with an adversary would also have a judge and ally.

The soldier gamblers "missed" much of an important occasion, by averting their attention to gamble for Jesus' one-piece robe. But luck had nothing to do with "missing" anything. The robe was going to one of them.

These gamblers held government power over all present, especially the crowd.

2623 Mary was at a distance when Jesus was dying. Jesus' words were recorded. He forgave many. Mary must have been told. (Missing gamblers too!)

God fill the hearts of gamblers so that they are SATISFIED.
