Newsletter from the Pastor ![]() We are large enough to serve you, and small enough to care… GOD has blessed us in many ways. We are expecting several new and exciting things in 2007. We just purchased a new facility next door to our church that we are converting into a large fellowship and recreational center. In the very near future we plan to use this new facility for a Day Care and possibly a Nursery School in 2008. I will try to keep everyone updated as GOD continues to move at Sullivan Wesleyan... Exalting Him, Rev. Gary Larimer UPDATE 8/23/07 Greeting Dear Hearts, We have been very busy with many new updates since my last update. We purchased a new power-point projector for the church. This new technology will enable us to present movies, power-point slides for preaching and teaching. Also, we can put up photos and bulletin announcements. We are excited about the possibilities of how God will use this for His glory. We had a very successful Vacation Bible School where we registered 65 children. Our theme was God and Sports. We had great teachers and the children really responded to the messages. We had several children make first time commitments to the Lord. Please remember them in your prayers. Since my last update I have been elected as Director of Sunday School promotions for our Indiana South District. This has become a very demanding job with 93 churches to report each month. I love crunching numbers and this will be a great challenge for me. I have been asked to join the board of directors of a facility directly across the street from our church. This building is the old Sullivan Junior High School. I can't even imagine all the possibilities that we might use this for. The ideas are already starting to come. The full size gym will come in very handy for young people after school. I know that God has blessed us with yet another wonderful opportunity to reach his children. Help us to pray that we will use this for His glory. Many of you know that I am a by-vocational minister and this has been very demanding on my family for the last three years. Well, all of that is about to change. As of September 21, of this year I will be a FULL-TIME pastor 24/7. Yes, I'm finally stepping out of the boat and taking that leap of faith that our Awesome God has called me to. Sometimes we tend to stay in our comfort zones where we feel secure and safe. Someone once told me if God calls you to it, He will see you through it! Amen... Be Blessed, Rev. Gary Larimer Sullivan Wesleyan July 15, 2008 It has been a few months between newsletters. We have just started a new ministry called "Prayer Bears" where we anoint a teddy bear and prayer over it for healing and comfort for a child with a special need. Many times a child has to go to the hospital and it can be a very scary experience for them. Our special teddy bears bring them comfort and let them know that people are praying for them. God has really blessed this ministry many times already. We had a little girl going through foot surgery and was very scared. She was given one of our special Prayer Bears and she just loved it. It gave her comfort, she wanted to take it into surgery with her. When she got out of surgery the first thing she wanted was that bear. Her foot is healed and she goes back in for surgery on the other foot in a few days. Her parents told us that her bear will be right by her side. Wal-Mart of Sullivan and Terre Haute provides these teddy bears for us, a special thanks goes out to them. We have a special web-site built for this ministry at www.prayerbears.com. If anyone knows of a child that could benefit from one of our special anointed and prayed over bears please let us know and we will get a bear to them as soon as possible. We are planning our annual church picnic in August at the Sullivan Lake. We will have special Praise & Worship, games, great food and fellowship, also a baptism in the lake. For more information check our calendar of events or please call us. Bless you all, Pastor Gary Larimer August 28, 2008 I was just accepted as the Hospice Chaplain this morning for Sullivan and Greene counties. Among those duties I work with the Sullivan Hospital as Chaplain on call when a patient does not have a pastor. Please continue to pray for these ministries as I know God will bless them. God bless you, Pastor Gary January 23, 2009 WOW, WOW, WOW, We just finished a GREAT revival with Dr. Norman Wilson. What a gifted speaker he is - He spoke for many years preaching on radio - The Wesleyan Hour. We have just purchased a new mini bus, one that you can stand up in. This will help us get our elderly to and from church. We are also getting ready to build a new brick lighted church sign. I will be able to change messages on it. Very soon we will be remodeling our church foyer. We will be having a Youth revival this Spring, and a Fall revival before the holidays. Jonathan White will be with us on November 22, for a 6pm concert. We are very excited about what God is doing. Our VBS this year will kick off our WII-vival... let me explain... We are getting four new WII game systems with four Infocus projectors with large screens to set up for WII contests. We hope to bring in several youth age kids after high school basketball games, and for youth meetings. Lots going on!!! We certainly thank God for what He has done, what He is doing, and for His plans for our future here at Sullivan Wesleyan. Be a blessing, and always keep God first! Rev.
