Greater Bethel Apostolic Church Of God
Church History

We are excited to be a part of the body of Christ. The Bethel Apostolic Church of Christ from it's conception, has always been a joyful church. Founded in 1970 by the now deceased Elder Arthur Coachman, it was located at 717 W. Garfield Blvd in the Englewood community of Chicago. Elder Coachman had many struggles and disappointments, but never gave up.

Reaching out to help as many as he could, the Church has always stood on solid Biblical teaching and preaching. Many souls have been saved and brought to a higher calling through the outreach ministry of the radio and witnessing programs established by Elder Coachman.

Elder John F. Morris, who began to serve in December, 1982, kept the vision alive, hope ablaze and the doors open at Bethel. He served God, the membership and the community with untiring faithfulness. After 17 years, Pastor Morris retired from his work in this part of the vineyard. We are still on the wall proclaiming liberty to the captives and hope for the hopeless.

Now, God has given us another gift. On October 10, 1999, Elder Gerald A. Anderson, Sr., under the leadership of God, began to take this church to another level. Pastor Anderson, who is our Joshua, is leading the people to the Promised Land and continues reaching into the community; feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, visiting the sick and the rehabilitation centers.

Without a Vision the People perish. God has given our pastor a vision to build a greater facility of worship and it shall be called, Greater Bethel Apostolic Church of God, which means the House of God. The newly renamed ministry is now located at 2122 W. 79th St. in the Auburn/Gresham community of Chicago.

These 38 years have proven to the community that we are serious about our belief. We are standing on the promises of God and we are not going to be taken down. Our existence has given validity to itself. We can see 3 Churches born out of Bethel, Countless souls Baptized and Filled with the Holy Ghost, taught in the Word and becoming very useful in many churches around the city and abroad.

We thank God for Greater Bethel! To us, it's not just a church, it's home, a place of love and hope. A light house of truth and understanding, a shelter from the storms of life and a Tower of Power and Spiritual connection.

We salute you, Greater Bethel Apostolic Church of God, for 38 years of dedicated service and unyielding steadfastness in the Word of God. May God ever continue to strengthen us and keep us for his glory.

To God be the glory for the things he has done!!!

At Greater Bethel Apostolic Church, we want to help all people receive what GOD has for them and discover GOD'S purpose for their lives. Come and see what GOD wants to do in your life....
