Developing Prophetic Gifting
Eagerly desire to prophesy
The teaching - "do not focus too much on the gifts in case you lose sight of the giver" - is demonic doctrine, and won't be allowed to defile our fellowship. It is designed to make us feel awkward, condemned, guilty or afraid - for being anointed. The teaching is fear driven, not love driven.

It is unbiblical, and has no scriptural foundation whatsoever (Rick Joyner).

It is in direct contradiction to Paul’s exhortation to "eagerly desire the higher gifts".

Imagine you are on the telephone to your boyfriend or girlfriend - and someone urges you to beware lest you fall in love with the telephone. You might think them deranged, and at the very least, illogical. The gifts are our telephone to God - without prophecy, journaling, visions or dreams for example - we would have no ongoing vibrant relationship with God.

How sick is a father who gives his boy a train set, but warns him to not enjoy it? The above doctrine of demons is in fact a slur on God's character, and assumes that he is insecure, and a control freak, who might get offended if we actually enjoy what He has given us. It's insane. Jehovah Jireh in fact means - Provider, or if you like, Giver of good gifts. It's woven into His very nature.

So - visions are a Window through which we view our Lover. People annoy me who say, don't focus on the visions so much, it's dangerous, you might get proud or lose sight of Jesus. They are in fact, blind and usually jealous because they don't know how to use the window for themselves. Jesus is the Lover calling to me to open the window as frequently as possible. My false teachers feel better about their own blindness if they can make me blind also.

The only danger from having gifts beyond your fellows is inside your own character, not in the gifts themselves. Hence people use "knowledge" to make money or build up a power following. This is witchcraft, and very easily avoided for the pure in heart. We give people love words from Jesus - to heal them, nourish them, encourage and set them free - not to gain power or prestige for ourselves. That’s basic. But having immoral people around is not an excuse to warn people off the Gifts, just a good reason to warn people off immoral people *laugh*.

God is well able to Police the Gifts - we don't need to - if we tried it would be clumsy. If we get wrongly proud for having a gift we will simply lose our anointing and not be trusted with any more gifts. If we were made to swim in the River and allow fear of pride to keep us from it, then Jesus will rebuke us at the Judgement for burying our talents.

If you've ever made someone feel embarrased for having a "gift" - then your only hope to avoid Jesus wrath for hurting His innocent child - is repentance, and to restore them.

So don't lets allow clever sounding platitudes that don't originate with Jesus, into the Church.
