Faith Brings Joy

Adam and Christ Contrasted
12. When Adam sinned, sin entered the entire human race. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. 13. Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. And though there was no law to break, since it had not yet been given, 14. they all died anyway--even though they did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. What a contrast between Adam and Christ, who was yet to come! 15. And what a difference between our sin and God's generous gift of forgiveness. For this one man, Adam, brought death to many through his sin. But this other man, Jesus Christ, brought forgiveness to many through God's bountiful gift. 16. And the result of God's gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man's sin. For Adam's sin led to condemnation, but we have the free gift of being accepted by God, even though we are guilty of many sins. 17. The sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over us, but all who receive God's wonderful, gracious gift of righteousness will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.

Instructions about Worship
1. I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people.
As you make your requests, plead for God's mercy upon
them, and give thanks. 2. Pray this way for kings and
all others who are in authority, so that we can live
in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity.
3This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4. for he
wants everyone to be saved and to understand the
truth. 5. For there is only one God and one Mediator

The Dangers of the Last Days
1. You should also know this, Timothy, that in the
last days there will be very difficult times. 2. For
people will love only themselves and their money. They
will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God,
disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They
will consider nothing sacred. 3.They will be unloving
and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no
self-control; they will be cruel and have no interest
in what is good. 4. They will betray their friends, be
reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure
rather than God. 5. They will act as if they are
religious, but they will reject the power that could
make them godly. You must stay away from people like
that.
6. They are the kind who work their way into people's
homes and win the confidence of[a] vulnerable women
who are burdened with the guilt of sin and controlled
by many desires. 7. Such women are forever following
new teachings, but they never understand the truth. 8.
And these teachers fight the truth just as Jannes and
Jambres fought against Moses. Their minds are
depraved, and their faith is counterfeit. 9. But they
won't get away with this for long. Someday everyone
will recognize what fools they are, just as happened
with Jannes and Jambres.

Teaching about Giving to the Needy
1. "Take care! Don't do your good deeds publicly, to
be admired, because then you will lose the reward from
your Father in heaven. 2. When you give a gift to
someone in need, don't shout about it as the
hypocrites do--blowing trumpets in the synagogues and
streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I
assure you, they have received all the reward they
will ever get. 3. But when you give to someone, don't
tell your left hand what your right hand is doing. 4.
Give your gifts in secret, and your Father, who knows
all secrets, will reward you.

Trusting in the LORD
