Psalms & Proverbs ![]() PSALM 1:1-6 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stands with sinners, but his delight is in the Lord, and on his Bible he meditates day and night. They are like trees planted by streams of water and their lead (faith) does not wither, in God whatever you do it will prosper. The wicked are not so, they will not stand with God’s assembly of the righteous. The Lord watches over us. He cannot do for the wicked. (Matthew 5:44) Chapter 1: Verse 2-a man’s delight should be in the law of the Lord and he should meditate on it day and night. Verse 5-but the wicked will not stand in the Assembly of God’s righteousness. Chapter 2: Verse 2-the rulers of the earth gather together against the Lord and against His anointed one (Jesus). Verse 12-blessed are all who take refuge in the Lord! Chapter 3: Verse 8-from the Lord comes deliverance and may your blessing be on all your people (Exodus 34:8; Hosea 2:23; Romans 9:25). Chapter 4: Verse 3-know that the Lord has set apart the godly for Himself. My Lord will hear me when I call to Him. Verse 8-You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Chapter 5: Verse 4-You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell. Verse 8-lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies make straight Your way before me. Chapter 6: Verses 8-10-(after becoming like a little child, Matthew 18:3) away from me all you who do evil, for the Lord has heard my weeping and cry for mercy. He accepts my prayer. He turns back my enemies (Romans 8:28). Chapter 7: Verses 9-10, righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure. It is God most high who is my Savior. (God and Jesus are one) Verse 14-he who is pregnant with evil and makes trouble gives birth to disillusionment (Romans 3:22-23). Chapter 8: Verses 2-4-from the lips of children You have ordained praises. What is man that you are mindful of him? (John 1:1-5, 14) Chapter 9: Verse 10-those who know Your Name (Jesus) will trust in You. Lord, You have never forsaken those who seek You. Chapter 10: Verses 1-18-man is wicked and is caught in the schemes he derives in his thoughts. There is no room for God! Chapter 11: Verses 4-7-the Lord is in His holy temple and He, the Lord, observes the sons of all men (Philippians 2:9-11). The Lord is righteous, He loves justice, upright men will see the Lord’s face. Chapter 12: Verses 3-4-may the Lord cut off all flattering lips and every boastful tongue. They say, “We own our lips, who is our master?” Chapter 13: Verse 5-Lord, I trust in your unfailing love, my heart rejoices in your salvation (Acts 28:28). Chapter 14: Verse 6-all evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor but the Lord is their refuge. Chapter 15: Verse 1-Lord, who will dwell in your sanctuary and who does what is righteous? Who speaks the truth form his heart, who does his neighbor no wrong? Who keeps his oath? Answer! He who does will never be shaken. Chapter 16: Verses 2-3-I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, and apart from You I have no good thing.” I love the church of Jesus Christ that I’m in. Verse 10-because You will not abandon us, nor will you let Your Holy One see decay (Jesus is holy). Chapter 17: Verse 6-I call on You, O God, for You will answer me. Listen to me and hear my prayers. Verse 14-Lord, by Your hand save me from such men, men of this world (only) whose reward is in this life (only). Chapter 18: (David song to the Lord-the words of this song when the Lord delivered Him from Saul-II Samuel 22:2-51) Verses 1-3-I love You, O Lord, my strength. You are my rock, You are my shield. Verses 16-24-He, the Lord, reached down from on high and took hold of me (and also of me). He rescued me because He loved me (John 3:16). Verses 25-27-Lord, to the faithful You show Yourself faithful, but you bring low those whose eyes are haughty. Verse 30-as for God, His way is always perfect. He is a shield for us. Verses 31-32-who is God besides the Lord? And who is the rock except our God? It is God who arms me with His strength and makes my way perfect (Matt. 6:15-20. Matt. 16:17,18.) Verse 46-the Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock! Chapter 19: Verses 4-7-all of God’s creation declares His glory, its voice goes out into all the earth. God is like a bridegroom coming forth for us (Revelation 21:9-10). Verse 14-Lord, may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, for You are my Redeemer. Chapter 20: Verses 6-7-now I know that the Lord saves His anointed and He answers from heaven and we trust in the Name of the Lord our God. Chapter 21: Verse 13-be exalted, O Lord, in your strength. We will sing and praise your might. Chapter 22: Verses 9-11-You, Lord, brought me out of the womb, You made me trust You even at my mother’s breast. So do not be far from me for trouble is near me and there is none to help me but You (Isaiah 46:3-5). Verse 18-they divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing (Matthew 27:27-31). Chapter 23: Verses 3-4-God restores my soul, He leads me in His righteousness for His namesake, I will not fear evil for He is with me. Chapter 24: Verses 3-6-who may stand in God’s holy place? Those who seek Him with all their heart. Verse 10-who is He, the King of Glory (Colossians 3:4), the Lord (Jesus) Almighty, He is the King of Glory. Chapter 25: Verses 4-5-show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long (John 4:24; II Timothy 2:15). Chapter 26: Verses 2-3-test me, O Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind; for Your love is ever before me and I walk continually in Your truth. Verse 8-and I love the house where you live, O Lord, the place where Your glory dwells (I Corinthians 3:16). Christ in us. Chapter 27: Verse 4-one thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life and to seek Him in His temple. Verse 14-wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Chapter 28: Verses 5-7-since people show no regard for the work of the Lord and what His hands have done, He will tear them down and never build them up again. I praise the Lord for He has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trusts in Him and I am helped. Chapter 29: Verse 11-it is the Lord that gives strength to His people. The Lord blesses His people with peace (John 14:27). Chapter 30: Verses 10-12-hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me, O Lord, You be my help. It is you, O Lord, that clothed me with joy so that my heart may sing to You, I give thanks forever. Chapter 31: Verse 5-into Your hands I commit my spirit, You, O Lord, are the God of truth (John 4:23-24). Verse 24-be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord. Chapter 32: Verses 1-2-blessed is he whose sins are forgiven and they are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him and he does not deceive God. Verse 5-when I acknowledged my sin to God and did not cover it up, You Lord forgave the guilt of my sin (Matthew 6:6). Chapter 33: Verse 4-the Lord is right and true; He is faithful in all He does. Verses 6-8-by His word the heavens were made, so let all the earth feat the Lord. Verse 11-the plans of the Lord stand firm forever and the purposes of His heart go on through all generations. Verse 18-the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His love. Verse 22-a prayer: may the Lord’s unfailing love rest on us as we put our hope in Him. Chapter 34: Verses 5-6-all who look to the Lord are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. I as a poor man called the Lord and He heard me, He saved me out of all my troubles. Verse 9-those who fear the Lord will lack nothing. Verse 11-come and listen to the Lord, He will teach you the fear of His ways (Job 28:28). Verse 14-turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it with all men (Hebrews 12:14). Verse 19-a righteous man may have many troubles but the Lord delivers him from them all. Verse 22-no one will be condemned who takes refuge in the Lord God. Chapter 35: Verse 10-my whole being will exclaim, who is like You, O Lord? It is You who rescues the poor from those too strong for them. Verse 28-my tongue will speak of Your righteousness and of Your praises all day long. Chapter 36: Verse 10-continue Your love to those who know You, and Your righteousness to the upright in heart (Matthew 7:21-23). Chapter 37: Verses 7-8-be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes (Romans 8:28). Refrain from anger and turn from wrath, it leads only to evil (Colossians 3:8). Verse 18-the days of the blameless are known to the Lord and their inheritance will endure forever (Romans 8:27). Chapter 38: Verses 1-22-I am like a deaf man and like a mute, O Lord, do not forsake me, be not far from me. O my God come quickly to help me Lord, my savior (I Peter 3:13-17). Chapter 39: Verses 7-8-Lord, what do I look for? My hope it in You. Save me from all my transgressions, do not make me the scorn of fools. Chapter 40: Verse 4-blessed is the man who make the Lord his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. Verse 6-sacrifice and offering you did not desire, all offerings you did not require, Verse 11-O Lord, may Your love and Your truth always protect me. Chapter 41: Verses 1-2-blessed is he who has regard for the weak. The Lord will deliver him in times of trouble. The Lord will protect him and bless him and He will not surrender him to his foes. Verse 13-praise be to the Lord my God from everlasting to everlasting (I Peter 3:15). Chapter 42: Verse 11-why is my soul downcast? But I put my hope in God and praise Him for He is my Savior and my God. Matt. 1:21. Chapter 43: Verses 1-5-I will not be downcast in my soul, I’ll put my hope in God my Savior. I will praise Him all my days for all my life. I will go to my God (amen). Chapter 44: Verse 6-8-I do not trust my bow or my sword, they do not bring me victory; it is You, O Lord, that gives us victory over all our enemies. It is my God I make my boast all day long and forever. Verses 20-22-if we forget our God and look to foreign gods, would not God discover it since He knows the secrets of the heart, thank God, we are as sheep to be slaughtered (Romans 12:1-3). Chapter 45: Verses 6-7-O God, Your throne will last forever, a scepter of justice is Your kingdom. Therefore God, your God has set you above Your companions by anointing You (Jesus) with the oil of joy (I Corinthians 12:27). Chapter 46: Verses 2-4-we will not fear if the earth gives way and the mountains fall, there is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, it is the holy place where the Most High God dwells. Verses 10-11-the Lord said, “Be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in all the earth.” The Lord Almighty is with us for He is God of God (Hebrews 12:5-8; 11:6). Chapter 47: Verses 6-9-Sing praises to God, for God is and always will be, King of all the earth, so sing to Him. Chapter 48: Verses 9-10- in Your temple (our body’s, the church or in all the earth) God, we meditate on Your unfailing love, Your right hand is filled with righteousness. Verse 14-for this God is our God forever and ever. He will be our God guiding us for all time. Chapter 49: Verses 1-14-sin is in all men (Romans 3:23). The holy ones will speak words of wisdom, mans heart will give understanding. Why should I fear when evil comes. No man can redeem the life of another or give God a ransom for him, for even wise men die, they leave their wealth to others. Verses 15-17-but God will redeem the righteous from the grave; He will surely take me to Himself. I will take nothing with me when I die. Verse 20-a man who has riches without understanding will perish. Chapter 50: Verses 9-15-I have no need of any animal, for they are all mine. As the cattle on a thousand hills, but if you call upon me in the day of trouble I will deliver you and you will honor Me. Verses 16-22-but the wicked, God says, “What right have you to recite My laws.” (Matthew 7:21-23) Verse 23-I will show you your salvation! Chapter 51: Verses 2-3-Lord wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin, for I know my transgressions and my sin is always before me. Verse 4-it is against You, O Lord, and You only I have sinned. Verse 5-I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me (Romans 6:15-19, 23). Verse 7-Lord, cleanse me and I will be clean, wash me and I will be whiter than snow (Isaiah 1:18). Verses 12-13-restore to me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me, then I will teach sinners Your ways and they will turn to You. Verses 16-17-Lord, You do not delight in my sacrifices or burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit and heart. O God, this You will not despise. Chapter 52: Verse 9-Lord I will praise You forever for what You have done, in Your Name (Jesus) I will hope, I will praise You in the presence of Your saints (I Corinthians 13:12-13). Chapter 53: Verses 1-4-there is no one on earth who does good, everyone has turned away, they all do evil, not even one does good. John 15:1-4. Chapter 54: Verses 4-7-surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me. I will praise Your Name, O Lord, for it is good to do. Chapter 55: Verse 2-Lord, hear me and answer me, my thoughts trouble me and I am distraught. Verses 16-17-I call to God and the Lord saves me. In the evening and morning and noon I cry out in distress and He hears my voice. Verse 21-People’s speech is smooth as butter yet war is in their hearts. Ps. 28:3. Chapter 56: Verses 9-10-when my enemies will turn back when I call for help I will know that God is for me. In God’s Word I praise, in His Word I praise (Revelation 19:13; 22:7). John 1:1-5. Chapter 57: Verses 9-10-I will praise the Lord among the nations; I will sing of the Lord among the people, for great is Your love reaching to heaven, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Verse 11-be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let Your glory be over all the earth. (my prayer). Chapter 58: Verse 11-after all is done men will say, “Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth.” (John 3:16) Chapter 59: Verse 2-deliver me from all evildoers and save me from bloodthirsty men. Matt. 10:16-19. Verses 16-17-then I will sing of Your strength in the morning and sing of Your love for me. You, O God, are my fortress and my loving God. Chapter 60: Verses 4-5-those who fear the Lord, You, O Lord, have raised a banner to be unfurled. Save us and help us with Your hand so that those You love may be delivered. Chapter 61: Verse 8-I will ever sing praise to Your Name Lord and fulfill my vows day after day. Chapter 62: Verses 1-2-my soul finds rest in God alone, my salvation comes from God, He alone is my Rock and my salvation. Verses 6-8-He alone is my Rock and my salvation. All depends on God, I trust in Him at all times. O, people, pour out your hearts to Him for it is God who is our refuge (Matthew 11:28-30). Chapter 63: Verses 6-7-on my bed I remember You; I think of You through the night because You and only You are my help. Chapter 64: Verses 5-9-we encourage each other in sin and we talk about hiding our sin, and we say, “who will see them?” God will turn their own words (all of us) against us. Verse 10-let the righteous rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in Him, let the upright in heart praise Him! Chapter 65: Verse 9-You, O God, care for the land and water it; the streams of God are filled to provide the people with grain. Chapter 66: Verse 4-all the earth bows down to God, we sing praise to Him. We sing praise to His Name. Verses 16-20-come and listen all who fear God; let me tell you what He has done for me. I cried out in sin with my mouth, and His praise was on my tongue. If I had sin in my heart the Lord would not have listened to me, but He did listen to me and He heard my voice in prayer. Praise be to God who has not rejected my prayer or withheld His love from me! Chapter 67: Verses 5-6-may the people praise You, O God; then the land will yield the harvest, and God, our God, will bless us. Chapter 68: Verse 3-may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God, may they be happy and joyful. Verse 19-praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Verse 35-You, O God, You are awesome in Your sanctuary. You give power and strength to Your people, we praise You O God! Chapter 69: Verses 13-14-I pray to You, O Lord, in time of Your favor; in Your great love, O God, answer with Your sure salvation. Rescue me from my sin, do not let me sink in the deep waters of myself (I Peter 5:6-7). Chapter 70: Verse 4-may all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; may those who love Your salvation always say, “let God be exalted!” Chapter 71: Verse 3-O Lord, You be my rock and my refuge to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress. Verses 8-9-my mouth is filled with Your praise declaring Your goodness all the days of my life. Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone. Verse 15-my mouth will tell of Your righteousness and of Your salvation all day long and I know not its measure (I Corinthians 9:26-27). Verse 20-though I have had troubles, You restore my life again and again from the depths of the earth (the grave) You will bring me up. Chapter 72: Verses 1-20-Is this Jesus? He will judge the people in righteousness. He will defend the afflicted. He will ensure as long as the sun and moon. In His days the righteous will flourish. All kings will bow down to Him. He will deliver the needy who cry out. Praise be His glorious Name forever; may the whole earth be filled with His glory, amen! Chapter 73: Verses 3-12-When I saw the prosperity of the wicked; they have no struggles; they are healthy and strong; they clothe themselves with violence. From their callous hearts comes iniquity, their evil knowing no limits. Their mouths lay claim to heaven but their tongues take possession of the earth. They say, “God how can you know?” This is what the wicked are like (Matthew 7:21-24; I Corinthians 8:4-6). Verses 16-17-when I tried to understand all this it was oppressive to me till I entered the sanctuary of God (the Bible, the church and my ministry-II Corinthians 5:16-21). Chapter 74: Verses 12-15-You, O God, are the King from of old; it is You who brings salvation upon the earth. You open the sea by Your power; You broke the heads of the monsters in the waters (Exodus 14:26-31-monster is Egyptians). Chapter 75: Verse 7-it is God who judges, He brings one down and exalts another. Chapter 76: Verses 11-12-make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them, for He breaks the spirit of rulers, He is feared by all (Job 28:27-28). Chapter 77: Verses 12-15-I will meditate on all God’s works and consider all His mighty deeds. Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God? You perform miracles! The people see Your power and You redeem us. Matt. 28:18. Chapter 78: Verses 5-7-God decreed His law to all of us and commands us to teach our children, even the ones not yet born, and they their children. (For this reason, I write this.) Verses 12-37-God did miracles in the sight of all men but they spoke against Him. Verses 38-39-but God was merciful and forgave their iniquities (sins) and did not destroy them. Time after time He restrained His anger; He remembered that they were flesh. Verses 41-69-again and again His people put God to the test; they did not remember His power. God led His people like sheep; He gave us the earth and all that is in it. Chapter 79: Verse 8-O, Lord God, do not hold against us the sins of the fathers; may Your mercy come quickly to meet us, for we are in desperate need of Your love. Verses 13-then we, Your people, the sheep of Your pasture (the earth), will praise You forever from generation to generation. Chapter 80: Verse 7-restore us, O God Almighty, make Your face shine upon us that we may be saved, amen. Verse 17-let Your hand rest on the man at Your right hand, the Son of man You have raised up for Yourself (Jesus). Revive us and we will call on Your Name (Acts 16:25-31-Paul said call on Jesus) and believe. Chapter 81: Verses 11-14-My people would not listen to Me so I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices. If My people would listen to Me and follow My ways I would subdue their enemies (II Chronicles 7:14). Chapter 82: Verse 4-Lord, rescue the weak and needy, deliver them from the hand of the wicked. Verse 8-rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are Your inheritance. Chapter 83: Verse 18-let all of us know that You, whose Name is the Lord, that You alone are the Most High over all the earth. Phil. 2:9-11. Chapter 84: Verse 2-my soul yearns for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Verses 9-10-look upon me O God, look with favor on your anointed one. Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. Verse 12-O Lord God Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in You (Hebrews 11:6). Chapter 85: Verse 7-show us Your unfailing love, O Lord, and grant us Your salvation. I will listen to what my God will say; He promises peace to me, His saint, but let me not return to folly (John 14:27; James 4:16-17). Chapter 86: Verses 3-4-have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to You all day long. Bring joy to me for to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. Verse 10-for You are great and do marvelous deeds, You alone are God. Chapter 87: Verse 7-as people make music they will sing and say, “all my fountains are in the Lord. Chapter 88: Verse 9-my eyes are dim with grief sometimes, but I call to You, O Lord, every day, I spread out my hands to You (John 3:19). Chapter 89: Verses 1-2-I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever, with my mouth I will make Your faithfulness known through all generations (this is the purpose for this book), I will declare that Your love stands firm forever, and that You, O Lord, established Your faithfulness in heaven (for all my children). Verse 17-for You are their, Your glory and strength, and by Your favor you exalt them. Verse 19-the exalting of David, God’s servant, I have anointed him, my hand will sustain him; no enemy will subject him to tribute, I will crush his foes, My faithful love will be with him and then he will call out to Me, “You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior (Matthew 16:18). Chapter 90: Verse 4-a thousand years in God’s sight are like a day. Verse 12-Lord teach us to number our days aright that we may gain a heart of wisdom (Proverbs 1:1-5). Verse 16-may Your deeds, Lord, be shown to Your servants and Your splendor to their (my) children. Chapter 91: Verses 11-12-God will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone (Proverbs 3:6-7). In all your ways acknowledge God. Chapter 92: Verse 1-it is good to praise the Lord and make music to His Name, for He is the Most High God. Verse 4-You, O Lord, make me glad by Your deeds, I sing for joy at the works of Your hands. Chapter 93: Verse 2-God’s throne was established long ago; You are from all eternity. Chapter 94: Verses 9-11-does He (God) who implanted the ear, does He not hear, or the eye and not see? And He who disciplines all people, does He not punish? Does He who teaches lack in Knowledge? The Lord knows the thoughts of all men, He knows we are futile. Verse 15-judgment will be founded on righteousness and all the upright in heart will follow it. Verses 17-22-unless the Lord had given me help I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death. The Lord has become my fortress and my God. Chapter 95: Verse 1-come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation (Matthew 16:18), Verses 6-8-come, let us bow down in worship (John 4:24), let us kneel before the Lord our maker; for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture and the flock under His care. Today if you hear His voice (in my heart), do not harden your heart as you did in sin. Chapter 96: Verses 5-7-for all gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord God made the heavens. Splendor and all majesty are before Him; strength and glory are in His sanctuary (ascribe all this to the Lord of this family in Jesus). Verse 13-we will sing before the Lord, for He comes to judge the earth. He will judge in righteousness and the people in His truth (John 14:15-17). Chapter 97: Verses 6-9-the heavens proclaim God’s righteousness and all the people see His glory. For You, O Lord, are the most high over all the earth, You are exalted far above all gods. Chapter 98: Verse 2-the Lord has made His salvation known and revealed His righteousness to all nations. Verse 4-shout for joy to the Lord all the earth, burst into jubilant song with all music (Hebrews 1:1-4). Chapter 99: Verses 8-9-O Lord our God, You answered all of us; You were to Israel a forgiving God all though You punished their and our misdeeds. Exalt the Lord our God and worship at all times His holy Name. Chapter 100: Verses 1-5-shout for joy to the Lord, worship Him with gladness; know that the Lord is God (Matthew 7:22-23). We are His people, the sheep of His pasture, go into His gates with thanksgiving for the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continue through all generations. Chapter 101: Verse 6-My eyes will be on the faithful in the land that they may dwell with Me; he who walks is blameless will minister to Me. Chapter 102: Verses 25-26-in the beginning, You, O Lord, laid the foundations of the earth and the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish but You remain (Matthew 24:35). Verse 28-the children of Your servants will live in Your presence (this is my-grandpa Reeve’s-hope) and their descendants will be established before You. Chapter 103: Verses 10-11-God does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him. Verses 12-13-transgressions are gone and He loves us! Chapter 104: Verses 6-9-You, O Lord God, covered the earth with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains but you rebuked the waters and they fled, at the sound of Your thunder they took to flight, never again will they cover the earth (Genesis 8:21-22). Verse 31-may the glory of the Lord endure forever, may the Lord rejoice in His works. Chapter 105: Verses 5-14-remember the wonders He, the Lord, has done, His miracles and the judgments He pronounced. He is the Lord our God; He remembers His covenant forever. He said to you, “I will give you the land of Canaan,” and He did when Jacob and his people were few in number. They wandered from nation to nation and God allowed no one to oppress them. Verse 45-He did all this that they might keep His precepts and observe His laws, praise the Lord! Chapter 106: Verse 3-blessed are they who maintain justice and who constantly do what is right. Verses 6-8-we all have sinned and rebelled against God, yet He saved us for His Names sake to make His mighty power known (Romans 3:9-20; 23-26). Verses 28-29-yet they yoked themselves to Baal and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods; they provoked the Lord to anger with their wickedness. Verse 43-many times God delivered His people but they were bent on rebellion and wasted away in their sin. Chapter 107: Verse 6-when they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, then He delivered them from their distress-sin (Matthew 3:2, 10). Verses 13-15-then they (Israel) cried to the Lord in their trouble and He saved them from their distress. Then they are brought out of darkness and the deepest gloom and broke away their chains. Verse 43-whoever is wise let all of us heed those things and consider the great love of the Lord. Chapter 108: Verse 6-save us and help us with Your right hand that those Your love may be delivered. Verse 13-with God we will gain the victory and it is He who will trample down our enemies. Chapter 109: Verse 27-(all that I do) let them know that it is Your hand, that You, O Lord, have done it all, amen! Chapter 110: Verses 1-9-the Lord God says to my Lord (Jesus), “sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.” (Hebrews 1:6-9) In the 9th verse You (Jesus) have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has set you (Jesus) above Your companions by anointing You with the oil of joy. Verse 10-He also says, “in the beginning, O Lord, You laid the foundations of the earth and the heavens are the work of Your hands (John 1:1-5, 14). Chapter 111: Verse 3-glorious and majestic are the deeds of God’s righteousness, they will endure forever. Verse 7-the works of His hands are faithful and just; all His precepts are trustworthy (the Bible). Verse 10-the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all of us who follow His precepts have good understanding (Job 28:28). To Him (God the Lord) belongs eternal praise. Chapter 112: Verses 1-2-praise the Lord, blessed is the man who fears the Lord and finds great delight in His commands (John 13:34). His children will be mighty in the lands and the generation of the upright will be blessed. Chapter 113: Verse 9-God settles the barren woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the Lord! (By adoption) Chapter 114: Verse 12-when Israel came out of Egypt Judah became God’s sanctuary and Israel His dominion. Chapter 115: Verses 2-8-why do the nations say, “where is God?” Our God is in heaven, He does all that pleases Him. But the gods they worship are made of silver and gold, made by the hands of man. They cannot speak or see or hear and they cannot smell or feel or walk; those who make them will be like them. Verse 16-the highest heavens belong to the Lord but the earth He has given to man (Genesis 2:15-17). Chapter 116: Verse 6-the Lord protects the simple hearted, when I was in great need He saved me. Verse 11-and I said in my dismay, “all men are liars.” (Romans 3:3-4) Verse 15-precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints (Ecclesiastes 7:1-5). Chapter 117: Verses 1-2-praise the Lord all the nations; extol Him all you peoples, for great is His love toward us and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord! Chapter 118: Verse 6-the Lord is with me, I will not be afraid, what can man do to me (Matthew 28:20-He is there to the end). Verse 28-You are my God and I will give You thanks; You are my God and I will exalt You. Chapter 119: Verse 7-(Aleph) I will praise You with an upright heart, I learn Your righteous laws. Verse 9-(Beth) how can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to God’s Word (the Bible). Verses 15-16-I meditate on Your precepts (in the Bible) and I consider Your ways, I will not neglect Your Word. Verse 18-(Gimel) open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in Your (Word) law. Verse 24-Your statutes are my delight, they are my counselors. Verse 27-(Daleth) let me understand the teaching of Your precepts, then I will meditate on Your wonders. Verse 32-I run in the path of Your commands for You have set my heart free. Verse 34-(He) give me understanding and I will keep Your law and obey it with all my heart. Verse 37-turn my eyes away from worthless things, preserve my life according to Your Word (Bible). Verse 46-(Waw) I will speak of Your statutes before all men and I will not be ashamed (Romans 1:16). Verse 50-(Zayin) my comfort in my suffering is this, Your promise preserves my life. Verse 64-(Heth) the earth is filled with Your love, O Lord, teach me Your decrees (Your way). Verse 67-(Teth) before I was afflicted with sin I went astray but now I obey Your Word (Bible). Verse 71-it was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn Your ways and decrees. Verse 74-(Yodh) may those who fear You rejoice when they see me for I have put my hope in Your Word (Bible). Verse 80-may my heart be blameless toward Your Word that I may not be put to shame, amen! Verse 88-(Kaph) preserve my life according to Your love and I will obey the words of Your mouth. Verse 89-(Lamedh) Your Word, Your Bible, O Lord, is eternal, it stands firm in the heavens (Acts 6:2; John 1:14; John 8:31; Matthew 24:35). Verse 102-(Mem) I have not departed from Your law, for You Yourself have taught me. Verse 104-I gain understanding from Your (Word) precepts therefore I hate every wrong path. Verse 112-(Nun) my heart is set on keeping Your decrees to the very end. Verse 118-(Samekh) You, O Lord, reject all who stray from Your decrees for their deceitfulness is in vain. Verse 128-(Ayin) because I consider all Your precepts right I hate every wrong path. Verse 130-(Pe) the unfolding of Your words gives light, it gives understanding to the simple (me). Verse 144-(Tsadhe) Your statutes are forever right, give me understanding that I may live. Verse 152-(Ooph) long ago I learned from Your statutes that You established them to last forever (God’s Word). Verse 160-(Resh) all Your words are true, all Your righteous laws are eternal. Verse 165-(Sin and Shin) great peace have they who love Your law and nothing can make them stumble. Verse 168-I obey, for all my ways are known by You. Verse 171-(Taw) May my life overflow with praise for You, teach me Your decrees. Verse 173-may Your hand be ready to help me for I have chosen Your teaching. Verse 175-let me live that I may praise You and may Your law sustain me. Verse 176-at times I have strayed like a lost sheep, seek Your servant for I have not forgotten Your commands (Matthew 10:16). Chapter 120: Verses 1-2-I call on the Lord in my distress and He answers me. My prayer is that the Lord will save me from lying lips. Chapter 121: Verses 7-8-the Lord will keep us from all harm, He will watch over your life, the Lord will watch over all of us, both now and forever. Chapter 122: Verse 1-I rejoiced when they said to me, “let us go to the house of the Lord.” Chapter 123: Verses 1-2-I lift up my eyes to You, to You whose throne is in heaven. In all our ways, O Lord, our eyes look to You, our God, till He shows us His mercy. Chapter 124: Verse 8-our help is in the Name of the Lord, for He is the maker of heaven and earth. Chapter 125: Verses 4-5-the Lord will do good to those who are good, to those who are upright in heart, but those who are evil the Lord will banish with all the evildoers. Chapter 126: Verse 5-those who sow in tears He will reap with songs of joy (Jesus-Acts 4:12). Chapter 127: Verse 3-sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him. Chapter 128: Verse 6-may I live to see my children’s children (III John 1:4). Chapter 129: Verse 2-some people have oppressed me from my youth but have not gained a victory over me. Chapter 130: Verse 3-4-if You, O Lord, kept a record of sins who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness, therefore You are feared. Verse 8-God Himself redeems Israel from all sin (and Jesus redeems us). Chapter 131: Verse 3-O Israel (and all people), put your hope in the Lord both now and forever. Chapter 132: Verses 1-5-O Lord, remember David and all the hardships he endured. He made a vow to God, “I will allow no sleep to my eyes till I find a place for my Lord.” (Philippians 3:12-15) Verse 16-I will clothe My people with salvation and the saints will ever sing for joy. Chapter 133: Verse 1-how good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity. Chapter 134: Verse 1-praise the Lord all you servants of the Lord who minister in His house. Chapter 135: Verse 6-the Lord does whatever pleases Him in heave and on earth. Verse 13-You Name, O Lord, endures forever, You are Lord God through all generations. Verse 21-you who fear Him, praise Him! Chapter 136: Verses 1-26-His love endures forever, so give God thanks, He is Lord of Lord’s, He does great wonders. He who made the heavens, to Him who led all of His people and to Him who remembered us in our low estate. Chapter 137: Verses 5-6-God said, “I will not forget Jerusalem (the joy of the Lord is my strength). Chapter 138: Verses 1-3-in the day when You answered me and strengthened me in my soul I do praise You. Verse 7-though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me, You will stretch forth Your hand against mine enemies and You will save me. Chapter 139: Verse 3-4-You, O Lord, can discern my going out and my lying down, You are familiar with all my ways, before a word is on my tongue you know it completely. Verses 7-14-where are You Lord? In heaven, in the seas, in the darkness or in the light; I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Verse 23-search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts, see if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way I should go, always. Chapter 140: Verse 13-surely the righteous will praise Your Name and the upright will live before You. Chapter 141: Verses 3-4-Lord, set a guard over my mouth and keep watch over my lips, let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, nor take part in wicked deeds with men who are evil. Let me not eat of their sins. Chapter 142: Verse 7-set me free from my sins so that I may praise Your Name, then the righteous will gather about me because of Your goodness to me. Chapter 143: Verse 2-Lord, do not bring me, Your servant, into judgment, for no one living is right before You. Verse 11-for Your namesake, O Lord, preserve (all I have done in Your temple) my life, in Your righteousness brings me out of trouble. Chapter 144: Verses 3-4-O Lord, what is man that You care for him and the son of man that You think of Him? Man is like a breath, his days are like a fleeting shadow. Verse 15-blessed are the people of Your truth and the people who call You God the Lord. Chapter 145: Verses 9-11-the Lord is good to all, His compassion on all He has made. All You have made will praise You, Your saints will extol You. They will tell of the glory of Your kingdom and speak of Your might. Verse 13-Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and Your dominion endures to all generations. Verse 18-the Lord is near to all who call on Him in truth (John 14:6). Chapter 146: Verses 1-3-praise the Lord, I will praise Him all my life. Do not put your trust in men who cannot save. Verse 9-God will frustrate the ways of the wicked. Chapter 147: Verse 4-God numbers the stars and calls them each by name. Verse 11-the Lord delights in those who fear Him and put their hope in His unfailing love. Chapter 148: Verse 5-let all things praise the Name of the Lord for He commanded and they were created. Verse 8-praise the Lord you lightening and hail, snow, clouds, stormy winds, all that do His bidding. Verse 12-praise Him young men and women, old men and children (praise Him all of us). Chapter 149: Verses 4-5-the Lord takes delight in His people, He crowns the humble with salvation (James 4:7-10), let the saints rejoice in this, honor Him and sing for joy on their beds at night. Verse 9-this is the glory of all God’s saints! Chapter 150: Verses 1-6-praise God in His sanctuary, praise Him in Hi mighty heavens, praise Him for His acts of power, praise Him for His surpassing greatness, praise Him with sounding trumpets and harp and lyre and tambourines, and dancing, and with strings and flute and the clash of cymbals; let everything that has breathe PRAISE THE LORD! (I John 2:1-6 and James 1:22-Listen) Chapter 1: Verses 1-7-the proverbs of Solomon the son of David who was King of Israel; it is for attaining wisdom and discipline, and for understanding words of insight; for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair, and giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young. Let the wise listen and add to their learning and let all the discerning get guidance for understanding proverbs and parables and the sayings and riddles of the wise (Matthew chapter 13-7 parables). The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Verse 33-whoever listens to Me (God) will live in safety and be at ease without fear of harm. Chapter 2: Verses 1-5-my son, if you accept My words, and turn your ear to wisdom, and call out for insight, if you look for it as for silver and hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. Chapter 3: Verses 3-4-let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck and write them on your heart, then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Verses 6-7-in all your ways acknowledge God and He will make your way straight. Do not be a wise guy! Verses 12-13-the Lord disciplines those He loves as a father his children who he loves. Blessed are the ones who find wisdom and understanding. Chapter 4: Verse 13-hold on to wisdom and its instruction, do not let it go, for it is your life. Verses 22-23-listen to the Word, for it is life to those who find it and health to the man’s whole body! Your heart is the well spring of life (Matthew 6:6). Chapter 5: Verse 21-a man’s ways are in full view of the Lord and He examines all his ways. Chapter 6: Verse 16-there are six things the Lord hates: 1-haughty eyes; 2-lying; 3-sheding innocent blood; 4-a heart that devises wicked plans; 5-feet rushing to evil; 6-a false witness and the 7th is a man who stirs up dissension among brothers. Verses 30-31-the man that steals because he is hungry is not despised, but he must pay it back. Chapter 7: Verses 24-27-a prostitutes temptation, now my son, listen to me, pay attention to what I say, do not let your heart turn to her ways or stray into her path. Many are the victims she has brought down, it leads to death. Chapter 8: Verses 10-11-choose God’s instructions instead of silver or gold, for wisdom is more precious than rubies and nothing you desire can compare with God’s wisdom. Chapter 9: Verse 8-do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you, but rebuke a wise man and he will love you. Chapter 10: Verse 2-ill gotten treasures are of no value, but righteousness delivers you from death. Verse 7-(this is why, I, Al Reeve, wrote this book) the memory of the righteous will be a blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot. Verse 11-the mouth of the righteous is life, but violence overwhelms the wicked. Verse 19-when words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise (James 1:19). Chapter 11: Verse 2-when pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Verse 13-a gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret. Verse 24-one man gives freely yet gains even more, another man withholds unduly but he comes to poverty. Chapter 12: Verse 1-whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid (Proverbs 13:1, 18, 24). Chapter 13: Verse 11-dishonest money goes away fast, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow. Chapter 14: Verse 10-each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can share its joy. Verse 12-there is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. Verse 16-a wise man fears the Lord and shuns evil, but a fool is reckless. Verses 26-27-he who fears the Lord has a secure home and for his children it will be a refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life turning a man from the snares of death. Chapter 15: Verse 3-the eyes of the Lord are everywhere keeping watch on the wicked and the good. Verse 22-plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. Verse 28-the Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous. II Tim. 2:8-11. Chapter 16: Verses 2-4-all mans ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord. Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed. The Lord works out everything for His own ends, even the wicked for a day of disaster. Verse 7-when a man’s ways are pleasing to the Lord He makes even his enemies live at peace with him (Proverbs 3:3-4; Hebrews 12:14). Verse 13-kings take pleasure in honest lips, they value a man who speaks the truth. Verse 31-gray hair is a crown of splendor, it is attained by a righteous life. Chapter 17: Verse 6-children’s children are a crown to the aged and parents are the pride of their children. Verse 13-if a man pays back evil for good evil will never leave his house. Verse 21-to have a fool for a son brings great grief, there is no joy for the father of a fool. Verse 28-even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent. Chapter 18: Verse 2-a fool finds no pleasure in understanding, but delights in his own opinions. Verse 7-a fool’s mouth is his undoing and his lips are a snare to his soul (Romans 8:5-10). Verse 10-the Name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe. Verse 13-he who answers before listening, that is his folly and his shame. James 1:19. Chapter 19: Verse 8-he who gets wisdom loves his own soul, and he who loves understanding prospers. Verse 17-he who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord and he will reward him for what he has done. Verse 21-many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. Chapter 20: Verse 1-wine is a mocker and beer a brawler, whoever is led astray by them is not wise. Verses 6-7-many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find? The right and faithful man will lead a blameless life and blessed are his "children" after him. Verses 9-11-who can say, “I have no sin?” (Romans 3:23), saying, “I can be pure from my sins.” The Lord detests both of them. Even a child is known by his actions whether his conduct is good or bad. Verse 24-all men of God are directed by the Lord, how can anyone understand his own way? (Proverbs 3:5-7) Verse 27-the Lord is the light searching the spirit of man, it searches out his inmost being (Exodus 20:6). Chapter 21: Verses 2-3-all a man’s ways seem right to him but the Lord looks at the heart. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifices. Verse 21-all who pursue righteousness and love finds life and honor. Verse 23-he who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity (Matthew 11:28-30). Verses 29-30-a wicked man puts up a front, but an upright man gives thought to all his ways. There is no way of sin that succeeds against the Lord God. Psalm 139. Chapter 22: Verse 6-train a child in the way God wants them to go and when they are old they will not turn from it (Job 42:12-the Lord blessed the latter parts of Job’s life more than the first). Verse 15-folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him. Chapter 23: Verse 12-apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of God’s knowledge (in the Bible). Verses 14-26-punish a child with the rod (of love) and save his soul from eternal death. My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad and my inmost being will rejoice when your lips speak what is right (in the Lord). Chapter 24: Verse 12-if we say, (about rescuing those being led away to death in verse 11) “we knew nothing about this,” does not He who weighs the heart of man perceive it? Does not He (God) who guards your life know it? Will God not repay each person according to what they have done? Verse 29-do not say, “I’ll do to him as he has done to me; I’ll pay that one back for what he did to me.” (Matthew 5:38-45-this is what Jesus said) Chapter 25: Verse 19-a bad tooth or a lame foot is like relying on the unfaithful in times of trouble. Verse 28-a city whose walls are broken down is like a man with no self-control. Chapter 26: Verse 4-do not answer a fool according to his folly or you will be like him yourself. Verse 18-like a man shooting deadly arrows carelessly is like a man who deceives his neighbor and then says, “I was only joking!” Verse 28-a lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works someone’s ruin. Chapter 27: Verses 1-2-do not boast about tomorrow for you do not know what a day may bring forth, and let another praise you and not your own mouth. Verse 5-better is open rebuke than hidden love. Verse 11-be wise, my children, and bring joy to my heart. Verse 17-as iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another man (I John 3:10; 4:2-3). Chapter 28: Verse 4-those who forsake the law of God praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist the wicked people. Verse 6-if anyone turns a deaf ear to the law even his prayers are detestable. Chapter 29: Verse 7-the righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern. Verses 15-17-the rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother. Chapter 30: Verses 5-6-every Word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words or He will rebuke you and prove you a liar. Rev. 22:;18. Chapter 31: Verse 8-speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves for the right of all who are destitute. Verse 15-a good wife, she gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and loves them all day long. Verse 20-she opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. Verse 23-her husband is respected at the city gates. Verse 26-she speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue. Verse 28-her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Give her praise! ![]() |
