Chapter 1: Verses 5-14-describes the 24-hour day. Verse 11-the seed is in all the things God made.

Chapter 2: Verses 5-6-no rain on the earth. Mist watered the ground Verse 23-a woman taken from man.

Chapter 3: Verses 1-5-the fall of all men. Verse 6-when the woman saw the fruit was good she took and ate it as well as the man. Verse 12-the man blamed the woman. Verse 13-the woman blamed the serpent. Verse 16-the outcome-to woman is pain in childbirth. Verse 17-to Adam He said, “Through toiling in pain you will suffer.”

Chapter 4: Verses 1-2-the birth of Cain and Abel. Verse 6-we must master sin in our flesh. Verse 25-Adam and Eve gave birth to Seth. Verse 26-Men began to call on the Lord.

Chapter 5: Verses 1-2-God made man in His likeness and called them mankind. Verse 4-Adam and Eve had more sons and daughters. Verse 5-Adam died at 930 years of age. Verse 21-Enoch had a son named Methuselah. Verse 24-Enoch did not die. He walked with God. Verse 27-Methuselah at 969 years old died. Verse 28-Noah is born. Verse 32-Noah at 500 had Shem, Ham and Japheth.

Chapter 6: Verse 3-the days of man will be a hundred twenty. Verse 5-the Lord saw how great man’s wickedness had become. Verse 6-God’s heart was filled with pain. Verse 8-Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Verses 13-22-Noah made an ark and hears how to build it.

Chapter 7: Verse 1-Noah was 600 years old at the time of the flood. Verse 5-he obeyed God. Verses 17-23-the ark was lifted high above the earth. Verse 24-the waters flooded the earth for 140 days.

Chapter 8: Verse 3-at the end of 150 days the waters went down. Verses 8-14-Noah sent out a dove. Verses 15-16-God said to Noah, “Come out of the ark” (on the 27th of February) Verse 22-as long as the earth is, seeding/harvest, cold/heat, summer/winter, day/night (24 hour day) shall not cease.

Chapter 9: Verses 1-2-all creation will fear man. Verses 3-4-everything that lives will be food for you. But we must not eat meat with lifeblood in it. Verses 11-17-never, never again will waters be used to destroy the earth. God sets His rainbow for a sign. Verse 28-Noah died at the age of 950 years.

Chapter 10: Verses 1-32-the clans of Noah’s sons from which nations were spread out over the earth.

Chapter 11: Verse 5-all the people spoke the same language and nothing they plan will be possible. Verse 7-God said “Let Us (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) go down and confuse their language.” Verse 10-26-this is the account of Shem to Abraham. Verse 29-Abram married Sarai (chapter 17:5 Abram’s name was changed to Abraham and 17:15 Sarai’s name was changed to Sarah). Verse 30-Sarah is barren, having no children (Genesis 21:1-2).

Chapter 12: Verses 1-3-Abram leaves his country and God said, “I will make you a great nation. I will bless all that bless you and curse all who curse you.” Verses 4-9-Abram was 75 years old when he went out. He went to the land of Canaan. From there he went to Bethel and then Ai. Verses 10-13-then he went to Egypt. There he called his wife his sister.

Chapter 13: Verses 3-4-Abram went from place to place. Then he settled in 2 places between Bethel and Ai where he built an altar to the Lord. Verse 9-Lot went to the Jordan and Abram to Canaan. Verse 13-Now Lot lived near Sodom where all the men of the cities were wicked and were sinning greatly.

Chapter 14: Verse 12-Chedorlaomer and the kings carried off Lot and his possessions. Verse 13-they reported this to Abram. Verses 18-19-Abram meets Melchizedek and is blessed.

Chapter 15: Verses 4-6-God said, “You will have an heir from your own body.” Abraham believed the Lord. Verse 13-Abram was told that his descendents would be slaves and mistreated for 400 years. Verse 18-the Lord made a covenant with Abram to give his descendants the land from Egypt to the Euphrates.

Chapter 16: Verses 1-4-Sarai said to Abram, “Go to Hagar so we can have a family.” Abram agreed. They lived in Canaan 10 years when this happened. Verses 11-12-Hagar is told to name the child Ishmael. He will live in hostility toward all his brothers. Verse 16-Abram was 86 years old when Ishmael was born.

Chapter 17: Verses 3-4-God said, “This is my covenant: you will be the father of many nations.” Verse 5-Abram is now called Abraham. Verse 8-God said to Abraham, “The land of Canaan will be given as an everlasting possession and I will be their God.” Verses 10-12-God’s covenant of circumcision for all generations to come. Verse 15-Sarai name is now Sarah. Verse 17-Abraham laughed when God said he would have a son. Verses 24-27-Abraham was 99 years old when he was circumcised. His son Ishmael was circumcised the same day at the age of 13 years old, as well as all the males.

Chapter 18: Verse 10-14-the Lord said to Abraham, “I will come to you next year and Sarah will have a son.” Sarah was listening in the tent door and she laughed. The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, is anything too hard for God?” Verse 15-Sarah said, “I did not laugh” but the Lord said, “Yes you did.” Verses 17-19-the Lord said, “Shall I hide what I am about to do to Sodom.” He said to Abraham, “You will become a great nation and all nations on earth will be blessed through you. Direct all your children to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right.” Verses 23-33-Abraham approached the Lord and said, “Will you save the righteous from the wicked?” Then he “Bargained” with God from 50 to 10 people. Will not the judge of all the earth do right? Not ten righteous were found. Sodom and Gomorrah were to be destroyed.

Chapter 19: Verses 5-9-the sin of Sodom. The men called Lot to send the two men that entered his house out to have sex with them (they were angels). Verse 10-the angels struck the men with blindness, both young and old. Verse 24-the Lord rained sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah. Verse 26-Lot’s wife looked back and she became salt. Verses 36-38-the daughters of Lot has sons. One is the father of the Moabites and the other the father of the Ammonites.

Chapter 20: Verses 1-6-Abraham moved to Gerar and said to Sarah “My wife should be called my sister.” Then the king sent for Sarah to have her for himself. But God said to the king, “She is married.” Abimelech the king said to God, “Did not Abraham say she is his sister.” God said to him, “That is why I did not let you touch her.” Verse 12-Abraham said, “She is my sister, the daughter of my father but not of my mother” (a 1/2 truth).

Chapter 21: Verses 1-7-Sarah bore Isaac. Sarah is 90 years old and Abraham is 100 years old. Isaac at 8 days old is circumcised. Verses 17-21-while Hagar was crying God said, “Don’t be afraid; the boy will be a great nation.” While they were living in the Desert of Paran his mother got a wife for him from Egypt. Verses 31-34-Abraham stayed for a long time in Beersheba.

Chapter 22: Verses 2-3-God said to Abraham, “Take Isaac and sacrifice him.” Verses 4-5-on the third day Abraham got to the place (Matthew 16:21; Matthew 28:1-5). Abraham said to the servants, “We will be back, me and my son.” Verses 8-12-God will provide a Lamb. God said, “Now I know you fear Me.”

Chapter 23: Verses 1-2-the death of Sarah. She lived 127 years and died in Canaan (verse 19). Verses 12-19-Abraham pays the price of the burial field.

Chapter 24: Verses 15-50-Rebekah is to be Isaac’s wife (verse 67).

Chapter 25: Verses 1-4-after Sarah’s death, Abraham took another wife. Her name was Keturah. She bore him more children. Verses 5-11-Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac and Abraham, lived 175 years and he died and was buried with his wife Sarah. Then Isaac was blessed by God. Verses 12-18-the sons of Abraham had through Ishmael, Sarah’s maidservant. Ishmael lived 137 years. Verses 20-26-Isaac was 40 years old when he married Rebekah. Rebekah was barren and Isaac prayed for her. The Lord answered and gave her twin boys. Esau first and then Jacob. Isaac was 60 years old when Rebekah gave birth to them. Verse 21-Esau sells his birthright to Jacob for a lentil soup.

Chapter 26: Verses 6-10-Isaac did the same thing his father did-he called his wife his sister for the same reasons. Verses 17-18-Isaac moved to Gerar and reopened the wells that the king had filled with dirt. Verses 34-35-Esau got married and they hurt Isaac and Rebekah.

Chapter 27: Verse 4-Isaac wants to give Esau his blessing, Esau already gave it away (Genesis 25:31). Verses 19-29-Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau,” and Jacob received his father’s blessing. He said in verse 29, “May those who curse you be cursed and those who bless you be blessed.”

Chapter 28: Verses 1-5-Isaac called Jacob and blesses him with much more. He commanded him not to marry a Canaanite woman. Verse 8-Esau went to Ishmael and married Mahalath, Esau’s daughter. Verse 22-Jacob sets up God’s house and said all that you give me I will give you a tenth of it all.

Chapter 29: Verses 6-12-Jacob meets Rachel for the first time. Verse 16-Laban, Rachel’s father, had one other daughter named Leah. Verses 31-35-Leah has children, Rachel is barren. Leah’s sons are Reuben, Simeon, Levi and Judah.

Chapter 30: Verses 3-28-Rachel said to Jacob, “Go to my maidservant Bilhah so she can bear children for me.” Jacob takes her as his wife. Her sons are Dan & Naphtali. Then Jacob takes a wife named Zilpah. Her sons were Gad and Asher. Leah’s 5th and 6th sons are Issachar and Zabulun. Leah has a daughter named Dinah. Rachel has Joseph.

Chapter 31: Verses 3-13-the Lord said to Jacob, “Go from here.” Jacob sent for Rachel and Leah and said to them, “Your father has cheated me, but he has not harmed me. So God said “Go back to your native land.” Verses 45-55-Jacob and Laban make peace.

Chapter 32: Verses 1-21-Jacob prepares to meet Esau, his brother. Verses 24-32-Jacob is alone and a man wrestles with him and broke his hip. Jacob said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.” The man said, “You will be called Israel.” Jacob said, “I have seen God face to face and my life was spared.”

Chapter 33: Verse 4-Esau and Jacob meet and forgives all in an embrace of brotherly love.

Chapter 34: Verse 25-three day’s after all the men in the city was circumcised Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, killed every male, even Hamor and Shechem, the one who violated Dinah. Verses 30-31-Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have brought great trouble on all of us.”

Chapter 35: Verse 10-Jacob is told again your name is Israel. Verses 17-19-Rachel had great difficulty having Benjamin and she died. Verse 28-Isaac lived 180 years and his sons Esau and Jacob buried their father.

Chapter 36: Verses 6-8-Esau is also called Edom. He took all he had and left Canaan for a land some distance from his brother Jacob. The land could not support them both because of their livestock. Verses 9-43-the account of Esau-this is the Edomites in the hill country of Seir. His wives are from Canaan-Adah, Oholibamah granddaughter; Basemath, a daughter of Ishmael.

Chapter 37: Verses 5-11-Joseph’s dreams told to his brothers and they hated him. Verses 12-22-Joseph went after his brothers. They were grazing the flocks in Dathan. His brothers saw him and plotted to kill him. Reuben heard it and tried to rescue him and take him to their father. Verse 27-Judah said, “Let us sell him to the Ishmaelites.” All the brothers agreed. Verse 28-The Midianite merchants bought Joseph for twenty shekels of silver and took him to Egypt. Verse 36-The Midianities sold Joseph in Egypt to Potiphar.

Chapter 38: Verses 1-30-Judah’s 3 sons Er, Onan and Shelah and Judah doing wrong. Finally, Judah sleeps with Tamar his daughter-in-law. It is all sin.

Chapter 39: Verses 2-5-the Lord prospered Joseph and he lived in the home of his Egyptian master Potiphar and supervised his household and all that he owned. The Lord blessed him! Verses 7-10-after a long time Potiphar’s wife seduced Joseph, but Joseph refused her. She tried day after day, but Joseph did not yield. Verse 18-Potiphar’s wife lies to her husband. Verse 20-Potihar puts Joseph in prison. Verses 22-Joseph is put in charge of the prison.

Chapter 40: Verses 1-4-the cupbearer and the baker of the king were put in prison where Joseph was and he attended to them. Verses 8-22-they both had a dream that Joseph interprets for them. Joseph said, “The interpretations belong to God.” Joseph said to the cupbearer, “To remember him to Pharaoh.” Verse 23-the chief cupbearer did not do it.

Chapter 41: Verses 1-8-two years had passed and Pharaoh had a dream. So he sent for all the magicians and wise men of Egypt to interpret the dreams, but they could not. Verses 9-13-the chief cupbearer, 2 years after his experience, told the Pharaoh of that time of his experience in prison with Joseph. Verse 14-Pharaoh sent for Joseph. Verses 17-32-Pharaoh told Joseph his dreams and said to him, “Explain this to me.” Joseph did! Verses 39-44-Pharaoh said to Joseph, “You shall be in charge and only I will be greater than you.” Verse 45-Joseph’s name is now Zaphnath-Paaneah. Verse 46-Joseph was 30 years old at this time. Verses 50-52-before the years of the famine 2 sons were born to Joseph and Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, Joseph’s wife. His firstborn was Manasseh and his second son was Ephraim. Verse 57-all the countries, and Egypt, came to buy grain from Joseph.

Chapter 42: Verses 1-4-when Jacob sent his sons to Egypt (Benjamin did not go), 10 sons went to buy grain. Verse 8-Joseph recognized his brothers but they did not recognize him. Verse 13-the 10 sons of Jacob said to Joseph, we were 12 brothers, the sons of one man. He lives in Canaan. The one at home is the youngest and one is no more-referring to Joseph. Verses 17-37-the brothers were put in custody for 3 days, then Simeon was bound but all the others left for Canaan. Verse 38-Jacob said, “My son will not go there with you to Egypt.”

Chapter 43: Verse 13-Israel (who is Jacob) said to his sons, “Go back to Egypt and take your brother Benjamin with you.” Verses 23-28-Simeon comes to the house with his brothers for dinner and they all eat with Joseph. Verse 30-Joseph is deeply moved by all this and he weeps. Verse 33-the brothers are seated before Joseph in the order of their ages, from Ruben to Benjamin.

Chapter 44: Verses 17-34-Judah pleads for Benjamin’s life. He said to Joseph, “How can I go back to my father if the boy is not with me?”

Chapter 45: Verses 1-3-Joseph made himself known to his brothers and he wept so loudly the Egyptians heard him. Also, the household of Pharaoh heard of it. Joseph said to his brothers, I am your brother, Joseph. Verses 7-8-God meant it for good! Verses 10-18-Joseph sends for his father to come and live in the region of Goshen-Pharaoh agreed to this. Verse 24-Joseph said to his brothers, “Go to my father and don’t quarrel on the way!”

Chapter 46: Verses 2-4-God spoke to Israel (Jacob) and said, “Do not be afraid to go to Egypt, I will go down to Egypt with you and Joseph will close your eyes in death.” Verse 7-Jacob took to Egypt his sons, grandsons and all his offspring. Verse 8-15-all that went with him was recorded. Verse 12-Judah’s 2 sons, Er and Onan, died in Canaan. Verse 29-30-Joseph and Israel met and they threw their arms around each other, and they wept for a long time. Jacob said to Joseph, “Now I am ready to die.” All shepherds are detestable to the Egyptians.

Chapter 47: Verses 3-6-Pharaoh asked 5 of Joseph’s brothers, “What is your occupation?” They said, “Shepherds.” They said, “Please let us settle in Goshen,” and Pharaoh said, “Yes.” Verses 16-17-when the food was gone they exchanged food for livestock since the people’s monies were gone. Verses 18-22-and it got worse. They said, “Take our bodies and our land and we will be in bondage to Pharaoh.” The famine was so severe for all the people, Egyptians and Israel. They all became servants to Joseph and Pharaoh. Verse 24-when the famine was over Joseph gives seed to plant and the people must give a fifth back to Pharaoh. Verse 26-Joseph established that they will be in bondage to Pharaoh. The priests did not become Pharaoh’s servants. Verse 28-Jacob lived in Egypt 17 years. At that time he was 147 years old and he said to Joseph, “Do not bury me in Egypt, bury me with my fathers.” Joseph said, “Yes.” Israel worshipped God as he leaned on his staff.

Chapter 48: Verses 1-9-Joseph’s father, Jacob, was ill. Jacob said to Joseph, “God appeared to me in the land of Canaan and there he blessed me and said I will make a large peoples from you.” So he blessed Joseph’s 2 sons, Ephraim and Manasseh. Verse 15-Jacob called God his shepherd all the days of his life.

Chapter 49: Verses 1-28-Jacob blesses all his sons. Verses 29-33-Jacob said, “Bury me with my fathers, Abraham, Isaac and also Sarah, Rabekah and Leah.” And Joseph did!

Chapter 50: Verses 1-14-the burial of Jacob was done with all his sons and with Pharaoh’s household. After this Joseph and his brothers and all the others went back to Egypt. Verses 15-19-the brothers of Joseph were afraid he would want revenge so they lied, saying, “Your father left instructions to forgive us. Joseph said, “You intended it for harm but God intended it for good.” Verses 24-26-Joseph made his brothers swear an oath, and said, “You must carry my bones up from this place.” So he died at the age of 110 years. They placed him in a coffin in Egypt (Exodus 3:19).

EXODUS

Chapter 1: Verses 1-5-all the sons of Jacob, with their families, went to Egypt where Joseph was. There were 70 in all. Verses 8-11-a new king, who did not know Joseph, came to power, and he said, “The Israelites became to many,” so they made them slaves. Verse 15-the king wants to kill all the baby boys.

Chapter 2: Verses 1-6-the birth of Moses-named by Pharaoh’s daughter. Verses 11-14-after Moses had grown up he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his people, and he killed him. Verses 15-21-Moses fled for his life into Midian and there he married Zipporah. They had a boy and named him Gershom. Verses 23-25-the king of Egypt died and the children of Israel called in prayer and God heard them, and was concerned about them.

Chapter 3: Verse 2-the angel of the Lord appears to Moses. Verse 4-God called to Moses from the burning bush. Verses 14-15-God’s name is I AM. In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I AM.” Verses 18-22-a new king is in power. Moses is to say, “Let the people of Israel go.”

Chapter 4: Verses 3-4-Moses staff became a snake. Verses 14-28-Aaron, Moses brother (the Levite), comes to meet him and God blesses them both. Zipprah rescues her son.

Chapter 5: Verse 2-Pharaoh said to Moses, “I will not let Israel go, I don’t know the Lord your God.” Verse 22-Moses said to the Lord, “Why have you brought trouble on this people?”

Chapter 6: Verses 2-4-God said to Moses, “I appeared to Abraham, Israel, and Jacob, as Almighty God I did not make Myself known to them, and I established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, where they were living at the time. Verses 18-20-the son of Kohath, Amram, married his father’s sister, Jochebob, who bore Aaron and Moses.

Chapter 7: Verses 3-5-God said to Moses and Aaron, “I will harden Pharaoh’s heart and he will not listen to you, but I will bring them out, then Egypt will know I Am the Lord. Verse 7-Moses was 80 and Aaron 83 years old when they spoke to Pharaoh. Verses 18-24-the Nile is changed to blood, the fish all die and the river stinks and they could not drink the water.

Chapter 8: Verses 1-5-7 days passed of this blood, then God sent the frogs and the frogs came up on the land. Verses 8-15-Pharaoh said to Moses, “Pray to your God to take the frogs away.” He lied to Moses and said would not not let them go. Verses 16-22-then the dust and the flies came but they were not in Goshen. Verses 25-28-Pharaoh lies again, “You can go to the desert, but not very far.” Pharaoh is being deceitful.

Chapter 9: Verses 1-6-the plague on the livestock of Egypt, but not Israel. Verses 8-12-dust bring boils! Verses 16-18-the purpose God did all this was that He might show His power and that His name will be proclaimed in all the earth-then He sent the hailstorm. Verse 20-some of Pharaoh’s officials feared the Word of the Lord. Verse 26-the hail was not in Goshen where the Israelites were. Verses 27-35-Pharaoh said, “This time I have sinned and the Lord is in the right.” Then he lied again!

Chapter 10: Verses 1-2-God said to Moses, “I have hardened the heart of Pharaoh and his officials so that I may perform miraculous signs so you can tell your children in all generations I Am the Lord.” Verse 7-Pharaoh’s officials said to him, “How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the people go.” Verses 13-15-then came the locusts so great in number and not to be seen again in all the world. Verses 21-24-then came the darkness in all the land except for Israel.

Chapter 11: Verses 1-7-the Lord said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Egypt, then he will let you go.” This is what the Lord says, “I will go at midnight, tonight, and every first born will die of all men and cattle, but not in Israel.

Chapter 12: Verses 1-13-the first Passover is in Egypt. This is the first month for Israel, on the 10th day of it you are to take a Lamb, keep it for 14 days, and then slaughter it. Put the blood on the sides and the doorframes of the Houses. Take the meat and roast it over the fire and take bitter herbs and bread without yeast. This is the Lord’s Passover. When I see the blood I will Passover you (Matthew 26:27-28). Verse 16-The Israelites are not to do any work except to prepare food for all to eat. Verse 26-when your children ask you, “What does this mean?” Tell them, “This is your hope.” (I Corinthians 11:23-29) Verse 30-there was not a house in Egypt without someone dead. Verses 35-36-the Israelites asked the Egyptians for silver, gold and clothing, and they gave them what they asked for. Verses 37-38-there were about 600,000 men besides women and children. Many other people went with them as well. Verse 40-the years the Israelites lived in Egypt were 430. Verse 48-others may eat it after they are circumcised.

Chapter 13: Verse 1-God said to Moses, “Consecrate to me every first born male of the Israelites. Verse 19-Joseph’s bones are carried by Moses as the oath was to do so (Genesis 50:25).

Chapter 14: Verses 1-31-the Israelites feared the Lord God when they saw His power going out of Egypt. Verses 17-18-God gains glory in all this. Verse 19-the angel of God in front of Israel’s army went behind them (Acts 8:26).

Chapter 15: Verse 1-Moses and Israel sang a song to the Lord. Verse 2-the Lord is my salvation! Verse 3-the Lord is His name! Verse 4-the Lord defeated Pharaoh’s armies! Verse 5-the army sank to the depth of the sea like a stone! Verse 6-the Lord’s right hand shattered them! Verse 7-in the greatness of your Majesty! Verse 8-the waters stood firm like a wall, Lord! Verse 9-the enemy’s of the Lord He will destroy! Verse 10-you blew your breath and the sea covered them! Verse 11-who are like you Lord! Verse 12-you stretched out and that did it! Verse 13-in your love you will lead! Verse 14-the nations will tremble! Verse 15-Canaan will melt away! Verse 16-you will make them as a stone! Verse 17-Lord you will plant them on your mountain, the place you made your dwelling! Verse 18-you, Lord, will reign forever and forever, amen! Verse 20-Miriam, Aaron’s sister, led the women. Verse 25-Moses led Israel from the Red Sea, through the desert of Shur, for 3 days without water. Moses said to God, “What should I do?” The Lord showed him a piece of wood and said, “Throw it into the water.” He did and it became sweet.

Chapter 16: Verses 1-2-on February 15th after coming out of Egypt, all of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron. Verses 4-8-Moses said, “You are not grumbling against us but against the Lord.” Verse 10-all of Israel looked toward the desert and saw the glory of the Lord in a cloud (Matthew 17:5). Verse 29-32-God gives the Sabbath for the people so they can rest on the 7th day. The people can eat manna. Verse 33-Moses keeps a jar of manna prepared by God for generations to come.

Chapter 17: Verse 2-the people quarreled with Moses again. Verse 4-Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “What am I to do with these people?” Verses 6-7-the Lord said, “Stand by the rock at Horeb, strike it, and water will come for them to drink.” Verses 8-12-Aaron and Hur held Moses hands up in the battle against the Amalekites. Verse 16-Moses said, “The Lord will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation.”

Chapter 18: Verses 13-22-Jethro, Moses father-in-law, gave advice to Moses and said, “Select capable men who fear God to help you.”

Chapter 19: Verses 3-9-then Moses went up to God in the mountain. God said to him, “Tell Israel, if they obey me fully and keep my commandments, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession, all through the whole earth.” Verses 10-11-the Lord said to Moses, “I’m coming down in a dense cloud.” Verses 12-13-He said, “Tell the people I am coming down and they are not to go up the mountain or touch it. If they do they shall surely be put to death. Only when the ram’s horn sounds a long blast, then they can go up to the mountain.” Verses 20-25-the Lord descended to Mount Sinai and said to Moses, “Go warn the people not to come up to the mountain, only Aaron can come up.”

Chapter 20: Verses 1-17-the 10 Commandments (verse 3-you shall have no other gods before me). In the 11th verse-in 6 days the Lord made the heavens and the earth (Matthew 28:18).

Chapter 21: Verses 13-17-4 ways to be put to death! Verses 28-36-a man who owns a bull-he is responsible for it.

Chapter 22: Verse 1-10-the responsibility for people’s animals-for stealing, or goring, or safekeeping, or borrowing. Verse 16-the price of a virgin. Verse 19-having sex with animals-individual must be put to death. Verse 21-do not mistreat and alien for Israel were once aliens. Verse 31-you must be My people!

Chapter 23: Verse 12-on the 7th day do not work so that your animals and your slaves and all aliens may be refreshed. Verse 20-26-”My angel will go ahead of you,” said the Lord. “Do not rebel against Him, for He will bring you all into your land. Worship the Lord your God!” (John 4:24) Verse 27-”I the Lord will confuse every nation you encounter, and make them turn their backs and run.”

Chapter 24: Verse 1-2-the Lord said to Moses, “You and seventy of the elders of Israel come up to the mountain and worship with Aaron, but Moses alone is to approach the Lord.” Verse 3-Moses wrote down everything the Lord said. Verse 18-he stayed on the mountain forty (40) days and 40 nights.

Chapter 25: Verse 2-and the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Israel to bring me an offering. Let your heart tell you what to give.” Verses 10-22-the making of the Ark and its use.

Chapter 26: Verses 1-14-making the curtains for the Tabernacle. Verses 15-30-making the Tabernacle. Verse 33-placing Ark to separate the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place.

Chapter 27: Verses 9-19-making the courtyard for the Tabernacle. Verse 20-oil for the lamps to keep them burning from evening till morning. This is for every generation.

Chapter 28: Verse 21-for the breastplate that will be for Aaron there will be twelve stones, one for each of the sons of Israel. Verse 29-when Aaron enters the Holy Place he will bear the names of the sons of Israel over his heart. He will do this for the Lord. Verses 42-43-Aaron and his sons must wear these in the tent of meeting so they will not die.

Chapter 29: Verse 29-Aaron’s sacred garments will belong to his descendents so they can be anointed and ordained in them. Verse 46-this is so they will know that I Am the Lord their God.

Chapter 30: Verses 1-10-one of the incense of the altar. Verses 11-16-each one must pay the Lord a ransom for his life (money). Verses 17-21-make a basin for washing their hands and feet. Verses 22-33-Moses was to take 250 of myrrh and 250 of cinnamon oil and make these into a sacred anointing oil. Verses 34-38-the scent incense and grind it into powder.

Chapter 31: Verses 1-6-God chose Bezalel, the grandson of Judah, and he filled him with the spirit of God. He is to make artistic designs and cut and set stones, and to work in wood and engage in all crafts. His helper is Oholild from Dan. Verses 12-17-God said to the Israelites, “Observe my Sabbath.” Verse 18-when the Lord finished speaking all this to Moses, He gave Moses two tablets inscribed by the finger of God.

Chapter 32: Verses 1-4-Moses was a long time in the mountain so they said to Aaron, “Make a god for us to worship.” Aaron said, “Take all the gold and bring it to me,” so they did. Aaron took what they handed him and made an idol like a calf, and the people of Israel said, “This is our god who brought us up out of Egypt” (John 3:30-36). Verses 7-9-then the Lord said to Moses, “Go down to the people because they have become corrupt.” Verses 11-12-after God became angry, Moses cared for the people, and he said to God, “Please turn from your anger so you will not destroy them.” Verse 14-God said yes to Moses plea. Verses 20-21-Moses took the calf they made and burned it into powder, scattered it on the water and made all the Israelites drink the water. He said to Aaron, “What did you do leading the people into this sin?” Verse 24-Aaron lies to God and Moses and said, “I threw the gold they gave me into a fire and out came this calf! (Verses 2-6). Verses 32-33-Moses said to God, “Forgive the people and if not blot my name out of the book.”

Chapter 33: Verses 3-6-God said to Moses and the people, “I will not go with you because I might destroy you, for you are a stiff necked people.”

Chapter 34: Verses 1-29-the Lord said to Moses, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones and I will write on them what was there before.” He did this on Mount Sinai (chapter 23:15-19). Verse 30-when Moses came down from the mountain his face was radiant.

Chapter 35: Verses 10-28-”All in Israel who is skilled are to come with your skills and make all the Lord commanded you to make for the Tabernacle.” Verse 29-all the men and women who were willing did as Moses said. Verse 34-others were given abilities to teach other people.

Chapter 36: Verse 3-the people brought all that was needed to carry out the work on the sanctuary. Verses 5-7-the people are bringing too much!

Chapter 37: Verses 1-2-Bezalel made the ark 3 1/2 feet long, 2 1/4 feet wide and 2 1/4 feet high, and overlaid it with pure gold. Verses 10-16-they made the table of acacia wood, and this to they overlaid with gold. Verse 17-they made the lamp stand out of gold. Verse 20-on the lamp stand were four cups shaped like almonds. Verse 23-they made this of 3 feet of gold.

Chapter 38: Verses 2-8-they overlaid the altar with bronze, not gold, and all the utensils of bronze. Verses 10-19-only the hooks were silver, and the bands for the courtyard curtains. Verse 24-the gold was used for the sanctuary. Verse 27-the silver was for the sanctuary bases and curtains.

Chapter 39: Verse 3-thin sheets of gold and long strands of it were worked into the yarn that Aaron and the priest would wear. Verses 8-21-the making of the breastplate which had a splendid look. Verses 32-43-Moses inspected the work and blessed all of it.

Chapter 40: Verses 12-16-”Anoint Aaron and his sons so they may serve God as priests. This anointing will be for all generations to come.” Verse 28-Moses puts the curtain at the entrance to the Tabernacle. Verses 30-32-Aaron and his sons wash their hands and feet in the water before entering the tent of meetings. Moses washes there also. Verses 34-38-the glory of the Lord filled the Tabernacle and Moses could not enter the tent of meeting. The cloud, if it did not lift, they could not set out until the day it did lift. This happened for Israel during all their travels.

LEVITICUS

Chapter 1: Verses 7:17-the preparing of the offerings by Aaron and his sons.

Chapter 2: Verses 2 &10-whatever was left over from the offering of grain for Aaron. Verse 11-it is most holy. All grain offering must be made without yeast. Verse 13-all offerings must have salt added to it.

Chapter 3: Verses 1, 2 &6-an offering of animals must have no defect, male or female.

Chapter 4: Verses 13-18-if all the Israelites sin unintentionally they are guilty. They must bring a young bull as a sin offering. It must be with no defect. Verse 20-do this and they will be forgiven (Hebrews 10:1-10).

Chapter 5: Verse 17-if a person sins and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord’s commands, he is guilty.

Chapter 6: Verses 1-7-if deceiving or finds lost things and lies about it, they must make restitution. Verse 13-the fire on the altar must be kept burning continuously, it must not go out.

Chapter 7: Verse 20-if anyone who is unclean east any meat of the fellowship offering to the Lord, that person must (I Corinthians 11:26-32) be cut off from his people.

Chapter 8: Verses 5-9-Moses brought Aaron and his sons and washed them with water, and then he clothed them in all the priestly garments. Verses 35-36-Aaron and his sons must stay at the entrance to the tent of meeting day and night for seven days. They did everything the Lord commanded.

Chapter 9: Verse 11-the flesh and the hide was burned up outside the camp. Verses 23-24-Moses and Aaron came out of the tent of meeting and blessed all the people. The glory of the Lord appeared. All the people shouted for joy and fell face down to Him.

Chapter 10: Verses 1-2-2 of Aaron’s sons offered the wrong fire before the Lord and they were consumed and they died. The names of Aaron’s sons are Nadab and Abihu. Verse 16-2 other sons of Aaron are Eleazar and Ithamar-they are priest also.

Chapter 11: Verses 1-8-clean and unclean food for Israel-food on the land. Verses 9-12-the food in the water. Verses 13-25-the birds (Acts 10:9-17-all is made clean in Jesus Christ). Verse 45-I am the Lord, so you be holy because I am holy.

Chapter 12: Verse 3-the eight-day the boys are to be circumcised.

Chapter 13: Verses 1-15-an infectious diseases dealt with by the priest to be unclean or clean. Verse 40-losing ones hair and is bald. Verse 45-unclean people must cry out unclean.

Chapter 14: Verses 8-9-a person to be cleansed from infectious diseases must shave all the hair of his body. The disease is mildew (verse 57) and skin (verse 32).

Chapter 15: Verse 31-the Israelites must separate from things that make them unclean so they will not die in their uncleanness.

Chapter 16: Verses 1-2-God said to Moses, “Tell Aaron not to come whenever he chooses into the Holy Place for he may die. Verse 6-Aaron is to offer his own offering for himself and his household. Verses 15-17-Aaron is to offer for the people also.

Chapter 17: Verses 7-9-Israelites are not to offer any sacrifices to idols. Verse 11-all atonement is in the blood for sin (Matthew 26:27-28). The life of a creature, man or animal is in the blood. Verses 12-14-no one is to eat the blood.

Chapter 18: Verses 1-7-Moses speaks to the people of Israel and says, “I am the Lord, you must not do as you did in Egypt. In Canaan where you are going have sexual relations as I have commanded.” Verses 8-20-do not have sexual relations with anyone except your wife. Verse 21-don’t sacrifice your children. Verse 22-Homosexuality is not right, God said so. Verse 23-don’t have sex with an animal. Verse 24-do not do this because I am delivering you from the nations I am driving out before you.

Chapter 19: Verse 18-love your neighbor as you love yourself. Verse 19-do not mate different kinds of animals.

Chapter 20: Verses 7-8-God said to all, “Consecrate yourselves and be holy because I am the Lord your God. Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the Lord who makes you holy.”

Chapter 21: Verse 13-High Priest must marry a virgin (Matthew 1:19-21).

Chapter 22: Verse 13-who can eat the food of the priests? The divorced or widowed daughter can eat it. Verse 22-the offering of all things to the Lord must be without defect.

Chapter 23: Verses 4-8-The Passover begins at twilight on the 1/14th day and on the 15th day of that month for 7 days. There will be no unleavened bread on the first day of this and no work is to be done for this 7 days. Present an offering to the Lord. Verse 22-when the harvest of your land is done leave some of it for the poor. Verses 41-43-on the 7th month, and on the 15th day, come to the Lord and rejoice before Him. Do this in outdoor booths for 7 days. The reason is to remember coming out of Egypt.

Chapter 24: Verse 5-a recipe for bread, 12 loaves. Verse 16-blaspheming the name of the Lord in punishable by death (I Timothy 6:1; Mark 3:29).

Chapter 25: Verses 1-6-for six years sow your crops and prone your vineyards. On the 7th year all this must rest. Verses 8-18-after 7 times 7 years on the 49th year of Jubilee on the 50th year, in that year, on the year of Jubilee, each one is to return to his family property and each to his own clan. Verses 21-22-God said, “I will in the 6th year send a blessing of food, enough for 3 years.”

Chapter 26: Verses 1-13-the rewards of obedience to God’s people. No idols or images, only Me said the Lord, for I am the Lord your God. Verses 14-21-punishment for disobedience and if you remain hostile toward me and refuse to listen to me, I will multiply your afflictions 7 times over. Verses 44-45-yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of the enemies I will not reject them, I will not break my covenant with them.

Chapter 27: Verse 26-no one however may dedicate the firstborn of an animal, since the firstborn already belongs to the Lord-that is the ox, sheep and all animals. Verse 30-a tithe of everything, grain and fruit, all the things that are from the land soil or fruit from the trees, these are God’s commands to Moses.

NUMBERS

Chapter 1: Verse 3-Israel’s army, men 20 years old or older, who were able to serve. Verses 19-48-Moses counted all the men in Sinai’s desert. Chapter 2: Verses 1-16-God said to Moses, “The Israelites are to camp some distance from each other with the banners of his family.
Chapter 3: Verses 1-4-Aaron and his sons, Nadab, Abihu, Eleazer and Ithamar-God had to dismiss Nadab and Abihu from the priesthood. They fell dead when they made an offering with unauthorized fire. They did this in the Sinai desert. Verse 39-the Levites who took care of the meeting place were 22,000.

Chapter 4: Verses 22-28-the Lord said to Moses, “Count the men from 30 to 40 years of age, they are to work at the tent of meeting. They are to be Gershonites. They are to do all that need to be done. Aaron and his sons will be in charge.” Verses 40-41-the families of Gershonite were 2,630. Moses and Aaron counted them (chapter 3:17-Gershon was the first born of Levi).

Chapter 5: Verses 11-31-the law of jealousy-when a woman has slept with another man and it is hidden from her husband, she is to be brought before the priest to be cursed if she is guilty.

Chapter 6: Verses 1-9-a Nazirite can be a man or a woman. They must abstain from wine; no razor on their head; they must not go near a dead body. Verses 22-27-the priestly blessing (a benediction).

Chapter 7: Verse 1-when Moses finished setting up the Tabernacle, he anointed it and consecrated it and all its furnishings. Verses 2-84-then the leaders of Israel (the heads of the families-they were the tribal leaders) brought an offering before the Lord on the following days: Day 1-Nahshon Day 2-Nethaniel Day 3-Eliab Day 4-Elizur Day 5-Shelumiel Day 6-Eliasaph Day 7-Elishama Day 8-Gamaliel Day 9-Abidan Day 10-Ahiezer Day 11-Pagiel Day 12-Ahira These were the offerings of the Israelite leaders.

Chapter 8: Verses 16-22-the firstborn of all the Israelites are mine but I have taken Levites instead to do the work at the tent of meeting. Verses 24-26-the Levite men can work from 25-50 years old, but they can assist their brothers in performing their duties after they retire.

Chapter 9: Verses 1-14-to celebrate the Passover at the appointed time on the 1st month and the 14th day, if someone is unclean they may celebrate on the 2nd month and the 14th day. All of them must follow the regulations. Verses 15-23-if the cloud above the Tabernacle stays in one place the Israelites cannot go; sometimes for a day and sometimes for a year (verse 22).

Chapter 10: Verses 1-5-when the silver trumpets sound the community of Israel is to assemble; when only one sounds the leaders only are to assemble. Verse 8-only the sons of Aaron (the priests) are to blow the trumpets. This is to be a lasting ordinance for all generations. Verse 29-Moses pleads with Hobab the Midianite to go with them. He said no, but Moses said, “Please do not leave us for you know where to camp in the desert.” Hobab said ok.

Chapter 11: Verses 1-3-the people complained and the Lord sent fire. Moses prayed and it died out. Verse 4-the pople complained about manna and God gave them meat. It was Quail. Verses 10-15-Moses was troubled-God was angry. Moses said, “Why have you brought this trouble on us?” He said, “Did I conceive all these people?” Verses 16-17-the Lord said to him, “Bring me 70 Israel elders and I will put my Spirit on them to help you.”

Chapter 12: Verses 1-16-Miriam and Aaron, Moses sister and brother, talk against Moses because of his wife. Verses 6-8-”Listen to me,” God said, “With Moses I speak face to face.”

Chapter 13: Verses 1-21-God said to Moses, “I am giving the land of Canaan to you. Send one leader from each tribe of Israel. The names of them are 14 men, Joseph and Manasseh, with the 12 children of Jacob. Verse 25-at the end of 40 days they returned. Verse 28-the report is that the people are powerful and the cities are fortified. Verse 30-Caleb said, “We should go up and take possession of that land.” Verses 32-33-but the people we saw are stronger then we are. They spread among the Israelites a bad report. The people we saw are of great size; we are like grasshoppers to them. This is the report on the exploration.

Chapter 14: Verse 4-the people said, “We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.” Verse 11-the Lord said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me?” Verses 13-18-Moses pleaded for the people to God. Verse 18-the Lord is slow to anger. Verses 13-20-the Lord said, “I have forgiven them, Moses, as you asked.” Verses 22-23-God said, “But not one of these will see the land I promised except Caleb and Joshua.” Verses 30-37-except for Caleb and Joshua no others are to go into the promised land; God said to Moses, “For 40 years, one year for each of the forty days you explored the land, you will suffer for your sins and you will know what it is like to have Me against you. They will die here in the desert.” Verse 38-only Joshua and Caleb survived.

Chapter 15: Verses 4-6-a hin of oil is a quart; and ephah of flour is 2 quarts; a hin of wine is a quart. Verses 13-20-when and offering is prepared for the native born do what the Lord commands. Verse 26-the whole Israelite community and aliens living together will be forgiven for unintentional sin (also verse 29).

Chapter 16: Verses 1-4-Kohath, Dathan, Abiram became insolent and rose up against Moses. With them were 250 Israelite men; they were community leaders. Verses 23-24-the Lord said to Moses, “Say to the assembly move away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.” Verse 27-so the people moved away. Verses 32-33-then the earth opened and swallowed them. They went down alive into the grave.

Chapter 17: Verse 5-God said to Moses, “I will get rid of the constant grumbling against you by the Israelites.” Verse 10-put Aaron staff in front of the testimony to be kept as a sign to the rebellious (Psalm 23:4). Verse 13-anyone who comes near the Tabernacle of the Lord will die.

Chapter 18: Verses 1-3-Aaron, you and your sons are to bear the responsibility for any offenses against the sanctuary, you and your sons alone. Verse 7-only you and your sons may serve as Priests. Verse 8-the Lord said to Aaron, “I, Myself, have put you in charge of the offerings presented to Me.” Verse 9-the gifts or grain sin guilt, it is most holy. Verse 11-I the Lord give this to your sons and daughters. Verses 13-20-all who are ceremonially clean may eat it (Matthew 5:13).

Chapter 19: Verses 1-9-the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “This is a requirement of the law. Tell the Israelites to bring a red heifer without defect and never been under a yoke, give it to Eleazar the priest and slaughter it.” Chapter 20: Verse 1-Miriam dies and is buried in Zin. Verse 8-God said to Moses, “Take your staff, you and Aaron go with the assembly, and speak to the rock before you and it will pour out water. Verses 9-11-so Moses took the staff, raised it and struck the rock. Verse 12-the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “You do not listen.” Verse 17-they come to Kadesh and said to the people, “Let us pass though your country.” Verses 18-19-but Edom said no. Verse 24-Aaron will die at Mount Hor because both Aaron and Moses rebelled at the waters of Meribah. Verse 28-Aaron dies on the mountain. Verse 29-the whole community mourned for him for 30 days.

Chapter 21: Verse 3-the Lord gave Israel the place of Canaan. Verses 6-9-Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole and anyone who looked at it lived.

Chapter 22: Verses 22-35-Balaam and the donkey, when the donkey saw an angel of the Lord, turned off the road into a field. The donkey said to Balaam, “I’m only trying to help you.”

Chapter 23: Verses 18-19-Balak asked Balaam, “What did the Lord say.” He said, “Arise Balak and listen! God is not a man that he should lie nor change His mind.”

Chapter 24: Verses 1-3-when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel he uttered his oracles. Verses 3-9 and 15-25-this are his oracles.

Chapter 25: Verse 3-Israel then joined in worshiping Baal and the Lord’s anger burned against them. Verses 7-9-Eleazar, son of Aaron, took a spear and drove the spear through 2 people, the Israelite and the woman (in the act of adultery). Verses 14-15-the name of the Israelite was Zimri and the name of the Midianite woman was Cozbi.

Chapter 26: Verse 4-the Lord said to Moses and Eleazar the priest, “Take a census of all Israel.” Verses 5-51-the Israelites that came out of Egypt-the number in all was 601,730. Verse 59-recording of Amram’s children, Aaron, Moses and Miriam.

Chapter 27: Verses 1-11-the daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah. They were grandchildren of Manasseh and Joseph. Verses 12-23-Moses gives Joshua authority of the people of Israel. Moses laid his hands on Joshua and commissioned him as the Lord instructed.

Chapter 28: Verses 1-31-the offerings to the Lord must be in the appointed time daily and on the Sabbath; also monthly. The Passover is on the first month, the 14th day. It is to be held on the 15th day. There is to be a festival for 7 days. A definite command is to be sure the animals are without defect.

Chapter 29: Verses 1-38-all the Feast of Trumpets, the offerings. Verses 39-40-Moses told the Israelites all that the Lord commanded him.

Chapter 30: Verses 1-16-vows made-all these are the regulations the Lord gave Moses concerning a man and his wife and between a father and his young daughter still living in his house.

Chapter 31: Verse 8-the death of Balaam. Verses 15-16-the women that live, they were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice and that was the means of turning the Israelites away from the Lord.

Chapter 32: Verses 12-13-Caleb and Joshua, they followed the Lord wholeheartedly. The Lord’s anger burned against Israel and He made all of them wander in the desert forty years, until the whole generation of them who did evil were gone.

Chapter 33: Verses 3-49-the Israelites journey by stages from Rameses on the 1st month and the 15th day, the day after the Passover; they marched right by the Egyptians burial ground all the way to Moab, by the Jordon and Jericho. Verses 55-56-if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land they will be a thorn in your side.

Chapter 34: Verses 1-12-the boundaries of Canaan for an inheritance, south, west, north and east, all the way to the Salt Sea. Verses 16-29-the men who are to assign the land, Eleazar and Joshua, the first is Caleb.

Chapter 35: Verses 1-5-the Lord said to Moses, “Command the Israelites to give the Levites towns to live in and also pasture land around the towns, and the towns in the center. Verses 16-21-capital punishment-if a man causes death by striking another that he dies, he is a murderer and he is to be put to death. Verses 22-27-but if he was not his enemy and he did not intend to harm him he must be judged.

Chapter 36: Verses 1-13-the commands of Moses on the Plains of Moab, by the Jordan across from Jericho, for the daughters of Zelophehad, these women came from Joseph heritage. Verses 10-13-so Zelophehad’s daughters did as the Lord commanded Moses. The daughters are Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah and Noah. They married their cousins on their father’s Zelophehad’s side. The marring was within the clans of the descendants of Manasseh, the son of Joseph.

DEUTERONOMY

Chapter 1: Verses 9-11-the Lord your God has increased your number as He promised He would (Genesis 15:5). Verses 17-32-you grumbled in your tents and said, “The Lord hates us.” But then I said to you, “Do not be afraid.” And God said, “I will go before you and fight for you” (Numbers 13:26-33). Verses 34-36-the Lord said in remembering them, “This evil generation will not see the land I swore to your forefathers-except Caleb.” Verses 37-39-the Lord said to Moses, “You shall not enter, but your assistant Joshua will enter because he will lead Israel to inherit all the land.”

Chapter 2: Verses 14-15-38 years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then all that generation had perished as the Lord said to them. Verse 25-today I will put the fear of you in all the nations under heaven. They will hear reports of you and they will tremble. Verse 36-not one town was too strong for us. The Lord our God gave us all of them.

Chapter 3: Verses 12-20-division of the Lord God gave to His people. Verse 22-God said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid, the Lord your God will fright for you.” Verse 27-the Lord said to Moses, “Look at the land with your eyes, but you are not going to cross.” Verse 28-Moses commissions Joshua!

Chapter 4: Verses 1-2-God said to all Israel, “I am teaching you to follow my commands. Do not add to them and do not subtract from them” (Revelation 22:18-19). Verse 7-God is near us whenever we pray! Verse 9-teach your children and their children! Verse 29-Moses said to Joshua, “If you seek the Lord your God you will find Him, if you look for Him with all your heart and soul.” Verses 32-35-ask about when God created man on earth; have any other people heard the voice of God and doing miraculous signs and wonders. You were shown these things so that you might know that the Lord is God. Verse 39-acknowledge that the Lord is God in heaven and on the earth below. There is no other! This was Moses commission to Joshua.

Chapter 5: Verses 6-22-Moses tells the people what God said to him and the people at the mountain about His commands. God wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me. Verse 33-Moses said to all the people, “Walk in all the ways that the Lord your God has commanded you so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess (verse 16).

Chapter 6: Verses 1-2-Moses said, “All these are the commands God directed me to teach you (from chapters 3 and 5). Verses 3-7-”Hear, I Israel, be careful and obey all of the commands, and love the Lord God with all your heart and soul and strength and impress them on your children.” Verses 12-13-do not forget the Lord who brought you out of Egypt and our of slavery (Romans 6:16-18). Verse 25-if we are careful to obey all this before the Lord our God, that will be our “righteousness.” Eph. 6:14

Chapter 7: Verses 3-4-”Do not intermarry with those who do not believe in Me,” God said. “For they will turn your hearts form following Me, to serve other gods.” Verses 17-18-you may say these nations are stronger than we are (Galatians 4:4-7). Verse 21-do not be terrified by them, for the Lord your God who is among (in you) you is a great and awesome God.

Chapter 8: Verse 3-God teaches all of us that man does not live on bread alone, but on every Word that comes form the mouth of the Lord (Matthew 6:31-34; the answer to the devil-Matthew 4:4). Verse 5-God disciplines us like sons (Hebrews 3:12-15. This is why I, Al Reeve, write this annotated material). Verse 6-observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in His ways and revering God (John 13:34). Verse 11-be careful you do not forget the Lord you God and His commands and decrees (Exodus 20:1-8). Verse 18-remember God has given you the ability to produce all you have.

Chapter 9: Verses 3-4-God said to Israel, “You are now about to cross the Jordan, but be assured that the Lord your God is the one who goes across ahead of you like a devouring fire. Then say not to yourselves, look what I am, look at my righteousness. No, it is on account of the wickedness of these nations I drive them out.” Verse 6-”Israel, you are a stiff necked people (verse 13 repeats). Verse 20-the Lord was angry at the people and also with Aaron.

Chapter 10: Verses 1-5-God said to Moses, “Chisel out two stones like the first tablets I gave you and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first ones, the ones you broke” (chapter 9:15-17). And God also said to me, “Make the ark to put the tablets in.” Verse 16-Israel circumcise your hearts and do not be stiff necked any longer. Verse 22-your forefathers who went down into Egypt were 70 (Genesis 15:26-27) in all and now God made you as numerous as the stars in the sky.

Chapter 11: Verse 19-Moses said, Teach your children all that I am saying to you. Talk about them when at home or walking along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Verse 32-be sure that you obey all the decrees and laws I am setting before you today.

Chapter 12: Verse 8-you are not to do as we do here today; everyone is doing as he sees fit (Romans 9:14). Verses 30-32-after all the nations have been destroyed, be careful that you don’t inquire about their gods because they do all kinds of detestable things the Lord hates. They even burn their children.

Chapter 13: Verses 1-3-if a prophet or a dreamer appears among you and does a miracle, and then says, “Let us follow other gods,” rather than the true God, you must not listen to them. Verse 4-it is the Lord your God you must follow. Verse 16-God said, “Burn the town’s and the plunder.”

Chapter 14: Verse 22-be sure to set aside a tenth of all your fields. Verse 29-do not neglect to feed the aliens or gentiles.

Chapter 15: Verses 1-2-at the end of every 7 years you must cancel debts. Verse 3-you may require payment from a foreigner. Verse 6-you will lend to many nations, but you will borrow from none. You will rule many nations, but none will rule over you. Verse 11-there will be poor people in the land, therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land. This is the year for canceling debts.

Chapter 16: Verses 3-4-do not eat bread made with yeast. For seven days eat unleavened bread so you will remember the time God took you from Egypt. Verse 8-for 6 days eat unleavened bread and on the 7th day hold an assembly to the Lord your God and do no work. Verse 17-each man must bring a gift in proportion to the Lord your God as He has blessed you. Verse 19-do not accept a bribe, for it blinds the eyes of the wise and twist the words of the righteous. Verse 20-follow justice alone so you may live at peace (Hebrews 12:14).

Chapter 17: Verses 3-7-if a man or woman are bowing down to worship other gods or the sun or moon or stars, investigate this thoroughly. You must have the testimony of two or three witnesses, not just one. If he or she is guilty they are to be stoned outside the city gate. Verses 14-15-if you say, “Let us set a king over us like all the nations around us,” be sure God appoints that king. Verse 20-he is not to consider himself better than his brothers in Israel and he is not to turn to the right or the left, do only as God said (I Samuel 8:19-22).

Chapter 18: Verses 1-2-the Levite priests are to have no inheritance with Israel. They shall live on the offerings made by fire. The Lord is their inheritance. Verse 5-the Lord God has chosen them and their descendants out of all the tribes to minister in His name “always” (Luke 1:5-15). Verse 22-a prophet must proclaim what the Lord said, not anything else.

Chapter 19: Verse 1-12-Moses said to the people, “Set aside three cities in the land the Lord gives you. Do this so that innocent blood will not be shed.” Verse 13-you must purge from Israel the guilt of shedding innocent blood. Verse 15-one witness is not enough to convict a man. Verse 18-the penalty for perjury-proving to be a liar before a judge. Verse 21-eye for eye, tooth for tooth!

Chapter 20: Verse2 10-12-when you go to a city, make the people an offer of peace. If they refuse lay siege to that city! Verse 16-in the cities of the nations the Lord God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave anything alive. Verse 18-if you don’t they will teach you to follow their gods.

Chapter 21: Verses 15-17-if a man has two wives and both bear him sons, when he wills his property to his son, it must be the firstborn. Verse 22-a man guilty of a capital offense is hung on a tree. You must not leave his body on the tree overnight because anyone who is hung on a tree is under God’s curse (John 19:6).

Chapter 22: Verses 6-7-the birds nest in a tree or on the road and the mother bird is sitting on the young newborn or on the eggs, do not take the mother with the young bird; let the mother go. Verse 10-do not plow with an ox or a donkey together. Verses 13-30-the laws of marriage violations and divorce (Matthew 19:3-10).

Chapter 23: Verses 4-5-Balaam pronounced a curse on Israel. However, God turned the curse into a blessing because he loved Israel. Verses 12-13-the first outhouse! Verses 17-18-no Israelite is to become a prostitute, not man nor woman. If they do, don’t bring the earnings into the house of God. Verses 21-23-making a vow to the Lord, make sure you pay it, but if you do not make a vow your not guilty if you don’t give. Whatever you utter to do you must do it. Verse 24-in your neighbors vineyard you may eat the grapes but do not take any in your basket.

Chapter 24: Verses 1-4-Moses said, “If someone is deserving of divorce, give it to her. Verse 5-a man recently married is not to go to war. Verse 16-fathers must not be put to death for their children, nor children for fathers. Each is to die for his own sin.

Chapter 25: Verses 2-3-if a man is found guilty he is to be beaten in the presence of the judges, but not more than 40 lashes.

Chapter 26: Verse 8-say to the Lord who brought you out of Egypt, “Here is my tithe for the Levite and the alien.” And say, “I have not turned aside from your commands.”

Chapter 27: Verses 1-8-when you go into the land I promised you set up large stones and coat them with plaster. Then write on them all the law. This Moses said to the people of Israel. Verses 9-10-Moses said, “Now you, Israel, have become the people of God. Obey Him.” Verses 15-26-Moses tells the people the 10 commandments and the people all said, “Amen!”

Chapter 28: Verses 9-10-if you keep the commands the Lord gives you than all the people on earth will see that you are called by the Lord your God. Verse 15-however, if you do not obey, all the curses will come upon you (II Chronicles 7:13-16-the Temple). Verse 43-all aliens will rise above you and you will sink.

Chapter 29: Verses 1-5-the covenant God said to Moses to make with Israel in Moab is the same as at Horeb (Leviticus 26:1-46). Verses 9-12-keep the words of the covenant that you may prosper in all that you do (Romans 8:28).
Chapter 30: Verses 2-3-when all the people of Israel fail God, and you and all of you return to the Lord and obey Him with all your heart, then God will restore you. Verse 6-the Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants so that you may love Him. Verse 14-this is not too difficult for you. Know the word is very near you, it is in your mouths and in your hearts so you can obey it (Romans 2:29).

Chapter 31: Verses 6-8-the Lord said to Joshua, “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or terrified because of them, your enemies. For the Lord is going with you, He will never leave you nor forsake you (Matthew 28:20). Verse 7, Moses said the same! Verses 16-22-God said to Moses, “You are going to rest with you fathers. The people will sin so give this song for them to sing.” Verse 23-Joshua is now in charge. Verse 29-God said to Moses, “I know they will do evil.” Verse 30-Moses recited the words of the song from beginning to end to the whole assembly of Israel.

Chapter 32: Verses 1-44-the song of Moses! Verse 3-I will proclaim the name of the Lord. O, praise the greatness of our God. Verse 6-is he not your Father and your Creator. Verse 35-it is God to avenge, He will repay. Verse 39-God said, “There are no gods besides Me, I put to death and I bring to life.” Verse 43-He will make atonement for His people. Verse 44-Moses came with Joshua and spoke all the words of this song to the people. Verses 48-50-God said to Moses, “Go up to Mount Nebo and view Canaan. There on that mountain you will die, just as your brother Aaron on Mount Hor, and there you will be gathered to your people.”

Chapter 33: Verses 1-29-Moses blesses the tribes of Israel before his death. Verse 16-Joseph, he is a prince among his brothers. Verse 27-the eternal God is your refuge and underneath are the everlasting arms. Verse 29-Moses said, “Blessed are you, O Israel, who is like you, a people saved by the Lord?”

Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Verses 1-4-Moses is led to Mount Nebo to see all the land the Lord promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Verses 5-8-and then Moses died on Moab and God buried Moses there. Moses was 120 years old. Verse 9-Joshua was filled with God's Spirit to lead the people. Acts 2:4
