![]() The Annotated Bible for serious Bible scholars and those who want a "bird's eye" view of the books of the Bible I was born on February 17, 1929, Elmer Obed Reeve. At my birth, my brother, John, had polio and that caused great financial problems for our family. When I was in school I was on a farm in Geneva, Illinois. At that time I rebelled and they put me out of school. At 12 years of age I left the farm and went to work at a restaurant for 4 years, then I joined the Navy. At that time I began to drink very heavily. One day I went to a Christian U.S.O. in Times Square where I was introduced to Jesus. At this time I could not read or write so I was confused about religious doctrine. I continued to drink--I was a secret drinker and worked with children's programs--I felt guilty and was still confused. After all my children were born I had a donut shop, but after two years I lost it. Everything in my life collapsed and suicide was all I thought about. That is when Jesus met me, and I gave it all to Him and I said, "Jesus, I want to learn to read and write." As I grew in my faith I attended a church in Queens Village, NY pastored by Reverend Harmon who encouraged me. After a good long time I began to read and to write. I am now reading all the time. I wrote a book on every chapter in the Bible and named it "Bible Appetizer." My life today is Christ in me the hope, His glory. My son, Wayne, helped me to put it in a book as a legacy to my family. I also need to thank David Film for preparing this web site in which I can share this book with others. THE BIBLE TRUTHS 2 Timothy 2:15 Carefully read the Bible and meditate on it. Through reading the Word of God, and especially through meditating on it, we become acquainted with the nature and character of God. Besides God’s holiness and justice we realize what a kind, loving, gracious, merciful, mighty, wise and faithful Father He is. Therefore, in poverty, affliction, death of loved ones, difficulty in service or financial need, we will rest on the ability of God to help us. We have learned from the Word that God is Almighty in power, infinite in wisdom and ready to help and deliver His people. Reading the Word (Bible) of God together with meditating on it is an excellent way to strengthen faith. Ephesians 2:8 and 6:16 We must maintain an upright heart and a good conscience and not knowingly and habitually indulge in things, which are contrary to the mind of God. How can we possibly continue to act in faith if we grieve the Lord and detract from His glory and honor? (Hebrews 11:6) All my confidence in God and all my leaning on Him in the hour of trial will be gone if we cannot trust in God because of a guilty conscience. My faith is weakened with every fresh trial—faith increases by trusting God. A habit of self-dependence is either defeated or encouraged. If we trust in God we do not trust in ourselves, our fellow man, circumstances or in anything else. If we do trust in one or more of these we do not trust in God. 1 Timothy 1:14, 15 If we desire our faith to be strengthened we should not shrink from opportunities where our faith may be tried. The more we are in a position to be tried in faith, the more we will have the opportunity of seeing God’s help and deliverance. Every fresh instance in which He helps and delivers us will increase our faith. We should not shrink from situations, positions or circumstances, which our faith may be tried, but should cheerfully embrace them as opportunities to see the hand of God stretched out in help and deliverance. Thus our faith will be strengthened. Colossians 2:6, 7 The last important point for the strengthening of our faith is that we let God work for us and not work a deliverance of our own. When a trial of faith comes we are naturally inclined to distrust God and to trust in ourselves, in our friends, or in circumstances. We would rather work a deliverance of our own than simply look to God and wait for His help. But if we do not patiently wait for God’s help or if we work a deliverance of our own, then at the next trial of our faith we will have the same problem, we will again be inclined to try and deliver ourselves, with fresh trials our faith will decrease. However, if we stand firm in order to see the salvation of God, trusting in Him alone, our faith will be increased. Thus, we can give God time to work. 1-I believe that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 2-I believe that the Bible is God's written revelation to man and that it is verbally inspired, authoritative, and without error in the original manuscripts. 3-I believe in the total depravity of mankind, fallen through the original sin of Adam, sin brought upon the human race. 4-I believe in the consequences of original sin through Adam, as well as individual sins, and that mankind is destined to an eternal hell through the consequences of his sinful condition. 5-I believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, and the price that He paid on the cross through His death, burial and resurrection provided the only solution to sinful man, making salvation available to "whosoever will" through personal trust by each individual, believing in the fact that He is the one and only provider to redeem mankind from his sinful condition. 6-I believe in His bodily resurrection and ascension into heaven, present ministry of intercession for us, and His imminant return to earth to receive His Bride in power and glory, followed by seven years of tribulation on the earth, and His return to the earth with his saints to a millennial reign on the earth. 7-I believe in the ultimate consequence of those who reject Jesus Christ to spend eternity in a conscious, literal and eternal torment called hell, eventually to be cast into the lake of fire. 8-For those who trust Him as Savior, I believe in an eternal life with Jesus Christ to reign forever with Him in a new Heaven and Earth at the end of time. ![]()
