Father Michael was born in 1951 at Orlando, Florida and brought up in the Roman Catholic faith. He received his Theological training at St. John Vianny Seminary, Miami, Florida and at St. Mary's Seminary & University, Baltimore, Maryland.
He entered into Holy Orthodoxy in 1974 and was ordained in Minor Orders at the hands of His Eminence Metropolitan +MICHAEL (Shaheen) of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of Toledo, Ohio and Dependencies.
After the merger of the Toledo and New York archdioceses in 1975/1976, he helped the Antiochian Orthodox Southern Deanery establish numerous parishes throughout Florida and later served the Western Rite.
He was formally incardinated into the Ukrainian Church and elevated in 1986 at Orlando, Florida by His Beatitude +PETER (Zhurawetzky) assisted by Metropolitan +NIKOLAUS (Ilnyckyj), Holy Ukrainian Autocephalous Church in Exile and Archbishop +DAVID (Baxter), Orthodox Church of America and served as Secretary to the Metropolitan. By 1992, Archpriest Michael was honoured with ecclesiastical distinctions of palitza, mitre and pastoral staff.
Upon His Beatitude +PETER's repose in 1994, he was appointed by the Holy Synod as Moderator of The Standing Episcopal Conference of Orthodox Bishops and continues to faithfully serve in that position.
Archpriest Michael is the third Moderator of the SEC..in direct canonical succession from their Beatitude's +JOSEPH (Klymowycz) and +PETER (Zhurawetzkyj) of Thrice Blessed Memories.
Archpriest Michael maintains ecumenical relations for the SEC and is Pastor of St. Nicholas Orthodox Mission in Columbus, Ohio. He is blessed in marriage since 1981 and has four sons.
