The Standing Episcopal Conference of Orthodox Bishops is Pan-Orthodox -- multi-cultural, ethnically rich, Eastern & Western Rites, diversity in unity --a "BLESSED BROTHERHOOD" of God-loving Hierarchs and Jurisdictions...holding true to the Valid Apostolic Succession and Holy Orthodox Faith... a historical body, established 10 years before SCOBA.
The "SEC Family" (member Hierarchs, Clergy and Jurisdictions) has been collectively known as the Orthodox Church of America since its founding in 1951. Our stand on moral, sociological and theological issues is quite clear.
Our SEC fellowship does not accept the ordination women into the priesthood but recognizes the Order of Deaconess which is being presently restored in parts of the Orthodox world. We hold that Sacred Marriage is ONLY between a man and a woman, and DO NOT recognize so-called same sex unions. We believe that homosexuality is a grave sin before the eyes of God and we dis-associate ourselves with any and all who believe otherwise!
The SEC is part of the 350 MILLION world-wide Eastern Orthodox Church, paternally affiliated with the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople and is observing its 58th anniversary of continuous service, to fulfill the goals of our Spiritual Fathers who went before us.
Most especially, during this present time of spiritual, economic and political unrest, we invite all Orthodox and Catholic brethren of the Valid Apostolic Succession to join us in fulfilling Christ's prayer, "that all might be ONE as Me and My Father are ONE!"
