Hi all, This may seem like an odd post, but I was wondering if someone could help me.... I work on a brand new variety show here in Los Angeles that will be airing on Fox this new year at 9pm in the slot directly following 'American Idol'. It will be hosted by Ozzy, Sharon, Jack and Kelly Osbourne. Although it is a variety show and will feature celebrity guests and sketches, there will be a reality segment called 'The Osbournes Meet the Osbournes'. Ozzy and his family will travel to another part of the country and meet a completely different Osbourne family. This is a segment that will appear in each episode of the show. Currently, we are trying to cast a nice normal Southern Christian family for one of the segments. We're looking for a family that would in a sense "mirror" the Osbournes in make-up - two parents and a son and a daughter - but we're are ABSOLUTELY open for any other Osbourne family configuration. Our only requirement is that they are practicing Christians with a passion and dedication to their fatih. I was hoping you would be good enough to pass on my details to any Osbourne, Osbourn, Osborne, or Osborn families in your congregation or that you know of that fits this bill. I'd love to hear from ANY Osbourne, if only to pass on information about the show and the concept, so I'd appreciate any help you can give me. Finally, I would also like to note that the point of this segment is not to make fun of anyone. Hopefully it will be a very funny segment, but funny because it will portray Ozzy and his family as fish out of water and the other family as relatively normal. Hello, You believe that children should be kept healthy and without pain? You think children that have diarrhea or vomit are sick? Do you think that people who intentionally cause children to have diarrhea or vomit are doing child abuse? The key word here is intentionally. As a parent of an abused child I am asking you these questions because in the United States one can find a Fortune 500 company that believes that children should have diarrhea and vomit and this makes me upset because I know how it feels to have diarrhea or to vomit. I feel pain doing either of these two things. This company stated that it is alright for that to happen to children in a law suit. Thus I have no problem showing that it believes in child abuse. No one at the time of the court case noticed that what this company was stating can be considered child abuse under the law. I once had to protect a child from a couple of child abusers so I read up on child abuse laws which can be found on the net at the federal government's Child Welfare Information Gateway. When you read the state statutes you will notice that the statutes not only include physical abuse but also mention mental or emotional health abuse as forms of child abuse. Well if one tells a child that it is alright to have diarrhea or vomit everyday that has to have an impact on the childs mental or emotional health. What you are stating is it is good to be sick. We give people psychotherapy who eat and then vomit up the food or take laxatives so that they can diarrhea the food out they eat because of various psychological reasons. The terms for these medical conditions are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa thus as a society we recognize doing things to have food come out as either diarrhea or vomit as abnormal. Now also consider what happens to a child's body if that child has diarrhea or vomits everyday. This has to have a physical impact on the body. For example vomiting brings up stomach acids to areas where the acids are not meant to be and thus the areas get acid burns. A child got sick (diarrhea) from drinking milk because he was lactose intolerant which is a genetic condition thus it is a medical condition. He asked Safeway to put up warnig labels for people like him. Safeway told him no. So a court action happen on this. In court he was told that it is alright for him to drink milk because milk is good for him. Well the problem with that is that the courts in the US look for child abuse during custody cases when deciding who should get custody of a child. The courts look at medical conditions and decide is the person committing child abuse because he or she is not taking into account the child's medical condition when taking care of the child. Thus if the parent gives a lactose intolerant child milk he or she is committing child abuse because he or she is not talking into account the child's medical condition. If you do not believe me here are a couple of cases which mention lactose intolerance: Jami Duer v. Michael Trent Moonshower case # 15-03-15 (Ohio 2004) and South Carolina Department of Social Services v Tina Jean N., Clifford S. and John Doe of whom Tina Jean N. is appellant case # 2007-UP-221 (South Carolina 2007). Thus in case law it is stated that it is child abuse to do what Safeway stated in court is okay to do. The court case in which Safeway stated this was Milton Mills, M. D. v Giant of Maryland, LLC, et Al. case # 06-7148 which was heard in the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit during 2007. Now Safeway also stated in court lactose intolerant people can handle low amounts of milk. Well Safeway is adding milk to other food items and is causing people to get sick. Lactose intolerant people are going to doctors complaining that they are sick. When examined it turns out that they are eating milk because it was place in food items that they eat. S. B. Matthews wrote Systemic lactose intolerance: a new perspective on an old problem (Postgrad. Med. J. 2005;81:167-73.) to inform other doctors of this growing problem. You can find this article on the net at BMJ journals. The last thing I want to mention about what Safeway stated in court is that it stated it is that lactose intolerant is well known to all people. That is not true. How many children know about it? How many adults know about it? Just because one has lots of publications submitted to court doesn't means most people know of it. For example we train our children from k to 12 on American history yet most adults can not name the capitals of all the states and other history questions. Books have been written by history professors which show how little Americans know of their history. What these professors do is publish what their students write as answers to questions because some of the answers are funny. I think you should know that the union is in bed with Safeway on not letting people know about this and other criminal acts that the company has done. I believe it is best to let the world know so that way it will not happen again. This is not the first time Safeway stated to people things if done one would commit child abuse and the union representative verbally told me not to mention this to anyone and that they will make things difficult for me if I do. I was fired by Safeway because I have negative views of the company. Would you not also have negative views of a company that believes in child abuse especially since I am a parent of an abused child? I also have negative views of this company because it stated in court that a cancer causing item does not cause cancer when in fact it is known outside of the US that it does. Both sides of my family had people who had cancer thus I am a high risk for cancer and I do not believe one should commit perjury on this issue in order to make money. I should also add that perjury is a crime. The perjury facts would make this letter much longer so I am not including them here. Hello, Various members of my extended family had cancer thus I do not like companies perjuring themselves on what causes cancer. Would you not also have negative views about a company holding back cancer research and stating in court something that causes cancer does not thus committing perjury which is a crime? I was terminated due to the fact I have negative views of the company I worked for due to the fact it perjuried itself on this exact issue and believes it has the right to harm children (This is true and I have a court case to back up my statements which will not be included here because it would make this letter very long). I turned the following information over to the Monterey County DA's office (in its Salinas office) concerning perjury in a cancer case but have not heard from them probably because of interference of my union (Local 5 of UFCW). I heard my shop steward and manager talking as to how to stop this information from getting out to large numbers of people because a Congressional investigation into Safeway could happen. Other people told me that management and others were trying to figure out how to stop me from telling others about what is written below. All I am asking you to do is read what I gave to some newspapers and stated on the Jack Blood radio show on 3-3-2008 and after reading it write to the Monterey County DA's office and ask them what they are doing about it if you agree with contents of this letter and let other people know what is written in this letter. The company that committed perjury is Safeway which goes by the following names depending on where you live: Vons, Dominick's, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Genuardi's, Pavilions and Carrs. I like to mention a couple of other things before you read what I stated on the radio and elsewhere. When stating chemical reactions just slow down think of water. When boiling it evaporates fast but when the temperate of water is near freezing it slowly evaporates (the process does not stop). Next when stating that reactive oxygen species causes DNA damage you can look that fact up in either of these two books. Look in Nobel Laureate Arthur Kornberg's book entitled DNA Replication (2nd. ed. reprint pg. 773) or Nobel Laureate James Watson's book entitled Molecular Biology of the Gene (5th ed. pg. 244) and you can see I am stating the truth here. By the way James Watson is the person known for his work on DNA structure. Lastly how far do you think Safeway will go to stop this information from getting out since Safeway went to court to stop this from coming out? Dear editor, The Bush administration places money over the lives of the American people it has the duty to defend under the U S constitution. It will even practice perjury in order for members of its administration to make money. Steve Burd was one of the Bush administration Home Land Security advisors. The company he is CEO of is Safeway and the state of Ca. wanted to put warning labels on some of its food products so it went to court because Safeway refused to do so. The federal government wrote a letter to defend Safeway and in it Dr. Lester Crawford, Commissioner Of The US Food And Drug Administration, stated that what the state of Ca. claimed had no scientific basis to it and also that the federal government did not want fish sells to go down. Judge Robert Dondero ruled in favor of Safeway and stated he did so based upon Dr. Lester Crawford's letter. The claim that there is no scientific basis is not true. The International Agency For Research On Cancer stated in 1993 that there is sufficient evidence in experimental animals for the carcinogenicity of methylmercury chloride and thus methylmercury compounds are possibly carcinogenic to humans. Well since I was once a biology major I pulled down the research that was not mentioned in that report and what research was done after that report up to the court case. After reading what I put together you will see that we knew that methylmercury causes human cancer and the chemical reason why years before the court case. We have known for a long time that methylmercury and mercury binds to DNA. We have various scientific methods to show that this occurs. For example in circular dichroism studies one uses how items absorb beams of polarized light in order to determine the structure of an item. Different items absorb light in different ways and at different wave lenghts. Another way is to use DNA sedimentation rates. Different items have different rates of moving through sediments and that is the reason for using this way to look at things. The next one I will mention is nuclear magnetic spectroscopy (nmr). Nmr spectroscopy looks at how items absorb radio waves in a strong magnetic field. The last one I will mention is thermal analyses. Heat is used to look at things because things behave differently at different temperatures. The point I want to make here is that all these different ways of looking at things show that mercury binds to the DNA and anything that binds to the DNA can potentially cause problems to the DNA. We have known that mercury and methylmercury mutate genes years before the court case. Safeway and the Bush administration do not care if your DNA gets messed up due to methylmercury and mercury. If you do not believe what I state look up the Ca. court case the People of the State of California v Tr-Union Seafoods, LLC, et al. (case no. CGC-04-432394) since Safeway was in that court case and claimed that DNA damage does not happen by methylmercury. A couple of things I want to point out here. The binding of mercury items to the DNA adds some wieght to the DNA. DNA is not static. It turns in the cell thus the added weight can weaken the DNA. We known that areas where DNA gets weaken in one generation of the DNA is passed down to other generations of DNA and those areas are more likely to get DNA problems such as breaks. Also when methymercury binds to the DNA it is bringing in a methy functional into close association with the DNA thus one gets methylation of the DNA and thus one gets the turning off and on genes at the wrong time in the cell cycle. This is an abnormal methylation of the DNA so who knowns all the kinds of problems this causes for the cell. If someone states that non-CpG methylation does not occur in mammalian cells I should refer to embryonic stem cells which we know that it happens. Over two hundred years ago we knew that mercury reacted with oxygen. Studies by two of the most famous scientists in the history of science found this to be important in their studies of oxygen. J. Priestley who is best known for the discoverer of oxygen and doing some of the first studies of photosynthesis used this fact in his studies of oxygen. A. L. Lavoisier who is known for his work in animal respiration also found mercury's ability to react with oxygen useful in his studies. One can find these people's names in high school science textbooks. The reason I state this is the fact that this reaction is one of the reasons why mercury causes birth defects, cancer and miscarriages. Lets look at the periodic table because things are grouped together by the fact they have common traits. Mercury is found in the transitional metal group. A common reaction to this group is the Fenton reaction. It is the name for the reaction of these metals with oxygen and it creates reactive oxygen species. Reactive oxygen species is what causes the destruction of DNA and thus causes what the state of Ca. claimed in court. Right next to mercury is cadmium which is a known cancer agent and it causes cancer by doing this reaction. Mercury does the Fenton reaction at the temperature which living things live at but at a slow rate according to a chemistry book. Also various science papers that I have read state reactive oxygen species levels go up due to methylmercury. Some of them state that it happens due to other reasons (The writers seem to forget chemical reactions just slow down instead of not happening so they over look the fact that other things happen at the same time when looking for something else thus they left out one of the various reasons as to why the reactive oxygen species goes up in the cell when methylmercury is present. You can have more than one reason for something to happen. One of the reasons I state mercury doing the Fenton is that even at slow rates since it binds to the DNA it can cause damage to the DNA that will not show up until generations later on. The damage can just be the weakening of the DNA and that is all that is needed for the DNA to break). Mercury mutates various genes found mutated in cancer patients. Some of these genes are p53, Fos, Jun and L1. P53 gene problems result in an increase accumulation of gene mutations and problems in the cell cycle. The mutation of either Fos or Jun genes can cause tumor growth. Increase levels of reactive oxygen species also cause the same type of results with p53, Fos and Jun. L1 mutaions are due to retrotransposition of DNA which causes lots of problems to the DNA due to the misreading of DNA and this can be found in breast and blood cancers. Retrotransposition of the DNA means a DNA sequence is moved to a different position in the DNA chain or moved to a different chromosome thus it increases the instability of the DNA. We have population studies out of Japan that show areas in Japan that had methylmercury problems have a higher rate of cancer and prebirth deaths. I have listed a couple of them below in the listing of science papers to back up my statements. Now I should state some textbooks state that a change in a single gene is not important but that is not true. The last time I checked there was around six thousand human diseases caused by a single bases change of a gene. For example there are osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bone disease) and sickle cell anemia diseases caused by a single base changed. How important do you think the change in a single base of a gene to these people especially the ones that die from diseases caused by this change? Mercury also causes nondisjunction of the chromosomes. This has been known for decades and it is because it impairs spindle function thus the cell cannot divide correctly. Methylmercury does this by more than one method. Methylmercury binds to the spindle microtubules thus interfering with the spindle microtubules and it also causes reactive oxygen species to go in the cell. What is important about the increase level of reactive oxygen species is that reactive oxygen species alone can cause nondisjunction of the chromosomes. This causes incorrect number of chromosomes in a cell which is seem in cancer. Various human diseases are also caused by the nondisjunction of the chromosomes such as Down's syndrome, Edward's syndrome and Patau's syndrome. There are two theories as to how cancer begins. One of them involves the mutation of specific genes and the other is that a large numbers of genes have problems. Well methylmercury does both. It reacts with genes associated with cancer and causes havoc not only with a large number of genes but also with chromosomes. Another thing that Dr. Lester Crawford stated in his letter that upsets me has to do with U S Constitution. He stated that the Food and Drug Administration "believes that it is uniquely qualified to determine how to handle the public health concerns related to methylmercury in fish." He just stated that you or me or anyone else is not able to judge what the government does. Well under U S Constitutional law anyone who is a U S citizen and has not had his/her U S Constitutional rights taken away by due process of law can not only criticize the government but also can cause changes in what the government does. This right does not depend on how qualified you are or your intelligence. The person with the lowest intelligence or the least qualifications has the same right to judge the actions of the federal government that the person with highest intelligence or the most qualifications does. The right to judge the actions of the federal government is base upon being a U S citizen and nothing more. I am Gabriel Bledsoe's maternal grandmother and have attended your Church, but not since my son-in-law, Preston Bledsoe, passed away on 04/19/06. As you know, Gabe was injured in a near drowning incident at Vortex Springs on Aug. 06, 2007. The doctors say they've done all they can for him and that he has premanent brain damage and will eventually die - but they don't have the final say... it's not over until God says it's over. I know that your Church has been praying for Gabe and I would like to send each of you a heart-felt THANK YOU! and ask that ya'll continue to lift him and all of our family up in prayer. It's been a long, dark, hard road this past year & a half for our family, with no signs of letting up. Deep within I know that God is still God, but the rope sure seems thread bare right now. I love the Lord, and I praise and give Him the glory for each and every day he gives me. I praise him for all his blessings and for the calling He has given me. I want to ask everyone to pray that our Lord will provide our church Abe Springs Pentecostal Church with a van or bus to bring all the children that want to come to our Father's House. He said "suffer the children unto me," so that's my desire to get youth to His house that they can partake of the Lord's word. Pray for me that I will stay in the will of my Lord and do what He sends me out to do with the wisdom that comes from Him.
