About Burma

Our Country

Our country, Myanmar (Burma) is located in Southeast Asia and is a springboard to China, India, Thailand and Laos. There are about 60 million people living in Myanmar. These 60 million people are composed of some 135 ethnic groups speaking about 106 languages. These 135 ethnic groups are composed of and under eight major national groups in Myanmar. These eight major national groups are called "Kachin, Kaya, Karen (kayin), Chin, Mon, Myanmar, Rakhaing, and Shan� For example, there are about 59 different ethnic groups in just the Chin national group alone (Philip & Dante Lian are Chin national by the way).
Its Religion

There are seven major religions in our country. They are Buddhist, (this is the most numerous and the dominant religion in our country), Muslim, Islamic, Hinduism, Animism and Christians). Because of the Lord's great commission to go out to preach the Gospel of Christ, and our hearts to evangelize the people with Christ's gospel, we, the Christians face obstacles in that our activities are subject to the whims of some local government officials who too often mis-use their authority."
(Buddhist 89%, Christian 4% (Baptist 3%, Roman Catholic 1%), Muslim 4%, animist 1%, other 2%)
Its Government

Controlled by the military, most of you are aware of the ongoing political struggles in our country. Please pray for good government leadership in Myanmar.
Its Economy

Even though there are many natural resources people could use to survive, it is really unfortunate that people do not profit much from these resources because of the political circumstances and tensions in our country that have resulted in "trade sanctions" by many countries against Myanmar.
Our Vision and Prayer

Our prayer and vision is to see the Lord using us as a vessel to reach out and to plant His churches among the most forgotten and unreached ethnic groups of people in our country, Myanmar with the life changing power of the Gospel of Christ.
Below is our prayer.
"God be merciful to us and bless us, And cause His face shine upon us, that Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations." (Psalm 67:1-2).
We desire that the Lord may reply:
"I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name" (Rev. 3:8)
Remember, "the world passed away and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God ABIDETH for ever." (I John 2:17)
