Pages From God's Salvation Book ![]() He came because the gulf was wide Between man and his creator; A bridge was needed to span that chasm So the Father could hold us to His breast. He came in an immaculate way And lay upon a bed of hay, surrounded By shepherds, angels, animals and some Who brought gifts to the Giver of Life. As the young lad continued to grow A few around Him began to know That something special dwelt within The meek and lowly carpenter’s son. He walked, He talked, healed and loved; And all who would open the door to Their heart, He entered with the greatest Gift from His Father’s house above. Many could not bear to hear The message He spoke so plain and clear All regarding a second birth and a Turning away from the vice grips of sin. Oh, Dear God! How He did agonize That I might become immunized From the fiery darts that Satan hurls As I travel the road to my perfect home. Because of sin He was lifted up But cold clay could not hold Him down; He rose in victory to accept a crown And sit on an everlasting throne. Now the job is done, the mission complete, And I gladly fall at His nail-scarred feet For becoming the bridge across the divide Allowing safe passage to my eternal home! © May 2005 James A.
