The Middle East

On Monday morning, the Lord spoke to me a very strong prophetic word concerning the Middle East:"The same Spirit that stirred in Israel to fight during the 1967 war has awakened once again in the land. The Lion of Israel is on the move. It will not stop until it has wiped out and pushed back the enemies of Israel from the land."

Damascus will eventually be a target. Isaiah 17 and Jeremiah 49:23-27 speaks of judgment against Damascus and Syria. The Lord spoke to me four years ago to watch Syria – it is not a friend of America. He also said that we are looking to other nations but Syria is a real problem. I believe they harbored weapons of mass destruction in the desert for Saddam Hussein. Remember, it was on the road to Damascus that Saul saw a great light and God sent a prophet to speak to him.

Pray for Lebanon. This is a land greatly loved by God and is referenced for its beauty numerous places in the Bible. Pray for Christian publishing and television in the area. Pray that the terrorists will be exposed and expelled from this land.

Iran is ancient Elam. Jeremiah 49:34-39 is going to take place. If we pray, God is going to "break the bow of Elam". Verse 37 says Elam will be dismayed before their enemies. Leaders in Iran say only 10% of their people support the current head of government, but he has the money and military power. However, verse 39 promises that it shall come to pass in the latter days that God will bring back the captives of Elam. We believe for a great move of the Holy Spirit in that region. Pray that God will overthrow all those who oppose Him and His people.

God is on the move in the Middle East. Watch Afghanistan. Islam is an Empire spirit and the Al-Qaeda from Iraq have regrouped in that region. They want to "take back" that territory from the United Nations "occupation"--as they see it. We must pray for Afghanistan and the soldiers stationed there.

Renewed prayer for the capture of Osama bin Laden. He represents the "strong man" who began this cycle of violence. Pray that God will expose all of his haunts in northern Pakistan.

God loves the people of the Middle East. We need to pray for this entire region. Prayer groups across the Middle East are joining together to form an Isaiah 19 Highway of Holiness in prayer (see Isaiah 19:23-24). Chuck Pierce prophesied in 2001 that we were entering into a 7-year period of war. Pray that God will shift the whole region by 2008, and we will see a great harvest of souls. Pray that God will use all this to turn the hearts of the lost to Himself.

From Rev Mary Burt

Just to let you know an update on the Psalm found in the Irish Bog. See
below. It was not Psalm 83 but Psalm 84. This is very important as over the
last two months in my prayer language the word Baca has reoccurred over and
over. I then began to question God and he turned me to Ps 84 in regard to
the Valley of Baca (Valley of weeping.) (Time of sorrows). When the Tsunami
hit in Indonesia a couple of years ago, my husband and I declared what the
Lord had said at that time, that we have entered into the 'beginning of
sorrows' that the Bible speaks about. Since then of course we have seen many
sorrowful events taking place in the earth, physically and of course
affecting all emotionally.

The Bible does declare that eventually 'all nations will come against
Israel'. Let us pray that as individuals we too will not choose the wrong
choice under pressure and sorrow. We are longing for a great harvest of
souls, but the truth is, will there be a great harvest in comparison to the
world's harvest. Though we know that God will reap a great harvest, but many
will be lost, many will be like in the days of Noah. It is time to prepare
your hearts, prepare your dwelling places, 'love not your life unto death',
and go and win souls for Christ - do the work of an Evangelist. Let us be
instruments of life, life bringers and life givers in Jesus Christ. We are
not waiting only on the Lord Jesus Christ's Glorious return but we should
also be laborours in the fields, whether at home or abroad.

It is a sobering day and hour for the Church, always the light to the world
in Jesus, but now we must reflect and 'go', repent and 'serve' as never
before (all of which we should have been doing all along). But oh God, He
loves us so, and comes again and again!!!!!!!! We are not waiting for the
'rapture', we are seeking to be 'caught up' in Him , that is His hearts
desire!

In Him we live, breath, and have our being,

An Irish Bog, Two Psalms and the Middle East
Op/Ed by Aimee Herd (Aug 4, 2006)

Several weeks ago, an Irish construction worker stumbled upon an ancient
Book of Psalms, while digging up a bog. Little did he know the amount of
reaction the find would produce, from all around the world. An article
appeared today in the Middle East Times, that read: Ireland's National
Museum Thursday dismissed chatter raging on the Internet that an ancient
religious book found in a bog last week was open at a page that referred to
"wiping out Israel." To which Psalm was that page open? And does it mean
anything to us today, especially in light of the conflict in the Middle
East?

When the book was found, and the report went out last week, that the page
was open to Psalm 83, many marveled at the fact that God seemed to be
speaking on the current events of today, from an Irish bog (a soft wet area
of low-lying land that sinks underfoot). After all, Psalm 83, in the Bible
we know today, is much like reading newspaper headlines, concerning the
Middle East. In fact, the entire psalm, written by Asaph, is a desperate cry
to God, on behalf of Israel, in light of her enemies who would like to
destroy her.

"O God, do not remain quiet; do not be silent, and, O God, do not be still.
For behold, Thine enemies make an uproar; and those who hate Thee have
exalted themselves. They make shrewd plans against Thy people, and conspire
together against Thy treasured ones. They have said, 'Come, and let us wipe
them out as a nation; that the name of Israel be remembered no more.'"
(-Psalm 83:1-4, NASB)

Does that last line sound familiar? Those were almost the exact words of
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, not very long ago. Certainly, if the
text of Psalm 83 really was that which was found in the bog, it would have
been an extraordinary allusion to the current crisis involving Israel and
Hezbollah.

But, it wasn't.

According to the Ireland National Museum, the Book of Psalms found was in
the Latin Vulgate version, which dates back nearly 1,200 years, and whose
books and verses are numbered differently from the King James, and other
versions. In the Vulgate, Psalm 83 is the same text as that of Psalm 84, in
modern translations of the Bible. It's an honest mistake by the media. Word
got out that Psalm 83 was found in the bog, and the National Museum hardly
had time to correct the news statements on the actual text, which began
circulating around the world, in a matter of minutes.

"Well, if it wasn't a Psalm 83 commentary on current events, then I guess
God really isn't speaking to us today."

NOT true! I believe He is speaking, and I believe He is using this psalm
that was found, to say something to us.

One thing this whole matter has revealed, is mankind's desperation to hear
God's voice. Even those who normally scoff at the thought of "a God who is
interested in us," seemed to really want it to be true. But God is
interested in us today, and what's more, He is speaking to us . . . to those
who take the time to listen.

The specific part of the psalm, found in the bog, that was legible, is verse
6 of what we know as, Psalm 84 (Verse 7 of Psalm 83 in the Latin Vulgate).
"Passing through the valley of Baca (weeping or tears), they make it a
spring . . ."

To understand what this means, you have to back up and take the entire psalm
in context, which is a good thing to do anyway when reading the Bible. This
is a beautiful psalm that depicts a true and vital relationship with God.
The beginning speaks of the joy the writer finds in being in God's "courts"
- or His presence.

"My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my
flesh sing for joy to the living God." (Ps.84:2, NASB) In verse 10 it reads,
"For a day in Thy courts is better than a thousand outside. I would rather
stand at the threshold of the house of my God, than dwell in the tents of
wickedness."

This is obviously someone who deeply loves God, and wants to be with Him.
But, what about that verse?

The psalm also frequently mentions the blessedness of the one who has this
vital relationship with God, who trusts in Him. And that's where our "bog"
verse comes in. If you look at the verse just before it, it says, "How
blessed is the man whose strength is in Thee; in whose heart are the
highways to Zion!"

So, the one who finds his strength in God will be blessed, and also, the one
who loves Israel - who has a heart for Zion (another name for Israel) - he
will be blessed as well. And then our verse, "Passing through the valley of
Baca (weeping, tears), they make it a spring, the early rain also covers it
with blessings."

Those who trust God, and who consider Him to be their source of strength,
even when they walk through hard times, sad situations, a "valley of tears;"
they make it a spring, they find refreshing in God's presence - even there,
in that valley of weeping.

Certainly the Middle East is a valley of (if not a desert of) weeping right
now. But those who find their strength in God, those who yearn for His
presence, they can even find peace in the valley of tears. Christians call
it the "peace that passes understanding."

So, is God speaking to us?

The day before the story broke about the Book of Psalms found in the bog,
the Chief Rabbinate in Jerusalem had declared a worldwide day of prayer for
Israel. Psalm 83 (not the Vulgate version) was one of the psalms requested
as reading during that time.

I believe what was found is God's response to that request, and to the
petition for help that is found in the text of the familiar Psalm 83. God is
saying, "Trust in Me, find your strength in Me, and even when you have to
walk through that 'valley of weeping,' I will be your spring of refreshing,
I will be your peace."

Yes, God is speaking to us today.

God Is Speaking From the Bogs of Ireland – A Prophetic Sign

An ancient 20-page manuscript dating to 800-1000 AD, was discovered last week, in a bog, in the Irish Midlands.

The director of the National Museum of Ireland said, "This is really a miracle find."

The manuscript was opened at Psalms 83. The Latin text of that Psalm, describes how Arab and Middle Eastern powers form a last-days covenant against the God of Israel and against the Jewish people, in order to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.

It is amazing that God is giving a witness and a prophetic sign to the entire world regarding immediate events stirring in Israel, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.

The God of Israel has used an Irish bog to highlight His perspective on the war, which is occurring as we speak, and declaring His heart and plan for Israel as a nation, and His judgment on all those who come against the Jewish people.

This is a call to prayer! It's time to get back on the walls, and pray for the peace of Jerusalem, the salvation of Israel, and either the repentance or the destruction of terrorists who have chosen to align themselves against YHVH (Yahweh Jehovah) and His people Israel.

Psalms 83
"O God, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still. See how Your enemies are astir, how Your foes rear their heads."
"With cunning they conspire against Your people; they plot against those You cherish. 'Come,' they say, 'let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more.'"
"With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against You--the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites, Gebal, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre. Even Assyria has joined them to lend strength to the descendants of Lot. Selah."
"Do to them as You did to Midian, as You did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon, who perished at Endor and became like refuse on the ground. Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, who said, 'Let us take possession of the pasturelands of God.'"
"Make them like tumbleweed, O my God, like chaff before the wind. As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze, so pursue them with Your tempest and terrify them with Your storm. Cover their faces with shame so that men will seek Your name, O YHVH."
"May they ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in disgrace. Let them know that You, whose name is YHVH--that You alone are the Most High over all the earth."

We bless you in Yeshua,

Ireland Worker Finds Ancient Psalms In Bog

By Shawn Pogatchnik,

Associated Press Writer
Tue Jul 25, 7:11 PM ET

Dublin, Ireland - Irish archaeologists Tuesday heralded the discovery of an ancient book of psalms by a construction worker who spotted something while driving the shovel of his backhoe into a bog.

The approximately 20-page book has been dated to the years 800-1000. Trinity College manuscripts expert Bernard Meehan said it was the first discovery of an Irish early medieval document in two centuries.

"This is really a miracle find," said Pat Wallace, director of the National Museum of Ireland, which has the book stored in refrigeration and facing years of painstaking analysis before being put on public display.

"There's two sets of odds that make this discovery really way out. First of all, it's unlikely that something this fragile could survive buried in a bog at all, and then for it to be unearthed and spotted before it was destroyed is incalculably more amazing."

He said an engineer was digging up bogland last week to create commercial potting soil somewhere in Ireland's midlands when, "just beyond the bucket of his bulldozer, he spotted something." Wallace would not specify where the book was found because a team of archaeologists is still exploring the site.

"The owner of the bog has had dealings with us in past and is very much in favor of archaeological discovery and reporting it," Wallace said.

Crucially, he said, the bog owner covered up the book with damp soil. Had it been left exposed overnight, he said, "it could have dried out and just vanished, blown away."

The book was found open to a page describing, in Latin script, Psalm 83, in which God hears complaints of other nations' attempts to wipe out the name of Israel.

Wallace said several experts spent Tuesday analyzing only that page — the number of letters on each line, lines on each page, size of page — and the book's binding and cover, which he described as "leather velum, very thick wallet in appearance."

It could take months of study, he said, just to identify the safest way to pry open the pages without damaging or destroying them. He ruled out the use of X-rays to investigate without moving the pages.

Ireland already has several other holy books from the early medieval period, including the ornately illustrated Book of Kells, which has been on display at Trinity College in Dublin since the 19th century.

Psalm in a bog linked to Israel's current war

Some say Scripture find in Ireland has meaning with present conflict

The "miraculous" find of ancient psalms in an Irish bog has some wondering if there's any special modern relevance, since the discovery dealt with the enemies of Israel attempting to destroy the nation.

A construction worker in Ireland came across the ancient 20-page book dated to the years 800-1000 A.D. while driving his backhoe's shovel into the mud last week. Experts say it's impossible to say how the manuscript ended up there, but speculate it may have been lost in transit or dumped after a raid some 1,000 to 1,200 years ago.

The National Museum of Ireland issued a statement saying, "In discovery terms, this Irish equivalent to the Dead Sea Scrolls is being hailed by the museum's experts as the greatest find ever from a European bog."

"It is not so much the fragments themselves, but what they represent, that is of such staggering importance," said the museum's director, Pat Wallace. "In my wildest hopes, I could only have dreamed of a discovery as fragile and rare as this. It testifies to the incredible richness of the Early Christian civilization of this island and to the greatness of ancient Ireland."

Wallace called it a "miracle find," telling the Associated Press, "it's unlikely that something this fragile could survive buried in a bog at all, and then for it to be unearthed and spotted before it was destroyed is incalculably more amazing."

But it's the fact the book was discovered opened to Psalm 83 that is attracting attention across the globe.

The ancient psalm deals with a plea to God not to let the enemies of Israel eradicate God's chosen nation.

Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. (Psalm 83:1-4)

It then lists a number of Israel's ancient enemies bent on its destruction.

Stan Goodenough, a South African journalist living in Israel for the past 12 years calls the timing of the discovery "incredible."

For right now Israel's enemies are again united in their desire to "cut Israel off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more." They purpose to take for themselves the "pastures of God for a possession." And that they are in league – or in a confederacy – is clear.

From Gaza, supported by most of the Arab states, the violence is being directed by the Palestinian Arab terrorist groups: the PLO, Hamas, the Palestine Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front For the Liberation of Palestine and the popular resistance Committees.

In the north, the Lebanese group [Hezbollah], supplied and enabled by Syria and the non-Arab but also Islamic Iran, is raining rockets down on Israel.

This, given the current situation, makes Psalm 83 a fascinating and fitting read, the ancient find nothing short of a phenomenon.

Goodenough points out the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947, just as the modern state of Israel was being formed.

The bog find was heralded by the museum on Tuesday, one day after a call for global prayer on behalf of Israel. Psalm 83 was one of three psalms recited at locations worldwide Tuesday at the request of the governing council of Israel's Chief Rabbinate.

In his book, "Israel in Crisis," author David Dolan dedicates an entire chapter to Psalm 83.

"I detail who the protagonists are in the psalm, and then go on to talk about when it might be fulfilled," he told WND.

The website A Christian Witness previously put Psalm 83 into a musical Flash presentation, demonstrating how timely the ancient song is with news images documenting the current threat facing Israel, linking the ancient peoples mentioned in the psalm to modern political states.

Psalm 83 attached to modern images and music in online Flash presentation (ACWitness.org)

Messageboards are filled with comments of news watchers who feel there's a timely significance to the discovery, while others think it's mere coincidence.

"This is the eeriest discovery I've ever heard of, especially given current events. It actually sends chills up my spine."

"I have read Psalms many times, and never has it just about screamed its relevance to the Middle East. God is really speaking to us through His Word right now (as always, of course), if we'll listen."

"I think this is one of the best news stories that I have read in quite some time. Those who seek Him, find Him. To those of us who believe, this is very uplifting!"

"For this to have been an act of God, God would have to have been all-knowing, foreseen this very conflict roughly 1,000 years before it occurred, foreseen the bog market, foreseen the use of power tools, foreseen the individual working the equipment and ensured this particular one was working that part of that bog that day, have created the book of its various parts (leather, the paper within) in the first place, have placed it in that place for 1,000 years of earthquakes and various other acts of God, foreseen the person who purchased the land would happen to be of the save artifacts mindset (not common among money-hungry landowners) and foreseen the need to it open to that page on that day. I don't know, seems all haphazard to me."

Psalms 83:1
Do not keep silent, God; be neither quiet, God, nor still,

2:for your enemies raise an uproar, and those who are hostile to you carry their heads high.
3:They devise a cunning plot against your people and conspire against those whom you treasure:
4:`Let us wipe them out as a nation,' they say; `let the name of Israel be remembered no more.'
5:With one mind they have conspired to form a league against you:
6:the families of Edom, the Ishmaelites, Moabites and Hagar's people,
7:Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia and the citizens of Tyre.
8:Asshur too is their ally, lending aid to the descendants of Lot.
9:Deal with them as with Sisera, as with Jabin by the wadi of Kishon,
10:who were vanquished and fell, as Midian fell at En-harod, and became manure on the ground.
11:Make their princes like Oreb and Zeeb, make all their nobles like Zebah and Zalmunna,
12:who said, `We will seize for ourselves the territory of God's people.'
13:Scatter them, my God, like thistledown, like chaff blown before the wind.
14:As a fire raging through the forest, as flames which blaze across the hills,
15:so pursue them with your tempest, terrify them with your storm-wind.
16:Heap shame on their heads until, Lord, they seek your name.
17:Let them be humiliated, and live in constant terror; let them suffer disgrace and perish.
18:So let it be known that you, whose name is the Lord, are alone Most High over all the earth.
