Kenya 2008 Dear friends and family, Hello. My name is Steven Barrett. I am a fifth year student at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. I am majoring in Kinesiology and plan to pursue a career in physical therapy and eventually use it on the mission field. I will graduate on May 10, 2008. This summer I have another great opportunity to serve the Lord in the country of Kenya. A small group of about 24 people from Liberty University and various other schools are heading to Kenya for a medical/biology missions trip. Our crew consists of a few professors, nursing students, biology/pre-med students, and health promotion students that are excited about God and his work, as well as the opportunity for hands-on experience. We will all have the chance to be amateur doctors, as well as see some of God’s magnificent creation in the mean time. The focus of the trip will be three dimensional: Lots of medical exposure, lots of time to enjoy the nature of Africa, and an emphasis on evangelism in both of the settings. Some other outreaches we have planned for the trip are a VBS (Vacation Bible School), a sports camp, and health promotion talks. We are heading out right after graduation (May 10, 2008) and not returning for 4-5 weeks (June 15, 2008). Normally, Liberty associated mission trips like this one cost in the $3,000 to $4,000 price range, which usually last for 1-2 weeks. Our trip is not technically through the school, but God has made a way for our trip to only cost around $3,100 for twice the amount of time spent there. If the Lord puts it on your heart to support the work and experiences that are going to take place in my life, as well as the lives of my fellow Christians going, and the people of Kenya, then may the Lord lead you to do so. I am truly appreciative. Also, if you would like to donate any other resources such as frequent flyer miles, medical supplies and medications, sports equipment (b-ball, football, soccer balls, etc.), and Bibles, they could be put to great use. If you decide to give in any way, please do so by April 30, 2008. More importantly though, is prayer. I need you to be praying that amazing things happen before, during, and after this trip that will make a difference for His Kingdom, and to spread his word and make disciples of all nations throughout the world, fulfilling the Great Commission. Pray also for our safety and that we will have courage like lions. Pray for the unity of our team and that Christian students and professors from all over the world learning together at Liberty would work as ONE, as followers of Christ are supposed to. Finally, just pray that the Lord’s work WILL be done and more souls for Christ will be gathered. Thank you all very much! Prayer goes a long ways!!!!!!!!!! "God please help them" According to the weather reports, it is my understanding that it is 100 degrees in New Orleans right now and water is pouring in. The people of New Orleans need our prayers for strength, endurance and safety.
