Israel is not only a beautiful land, but the people fall into your heart. I have been out to Israel 4 times now, and each time is so different to the last. What can make a big difference to a visit to Israel are the guides that you use, so hear, I want to tell you of two very special Men who called Sholmo and David who make the journey through Israel an amazing trek of discovery. As I sit here typing, I am smiling, smiling because what never ceases to amaze me is the supernatural wonders of a loving Father that have an influence in our lives. Below you will find a few testimonies concerning the reality of a Father who loves to give good things to His children.
Please understand me when I say that I am not some superspiritual woman who has earned anything from the Lord, no, Jesus loves me like he loves you. I dare to believe that what the word of God says is true, He tells us to ask for whatever we need, and over the years I have tried to do just that!! He has never once let me down. BOB AND THE
BEAN STALK
15 yrs ago, things were a little hard at home, I was trying to hold down three small jobs because my husband had been ill and was retired from work. I had invited a christian lady from the USA for tea, but had no food in the cupboard the night before her arrival.
I had never asked God for anything for myself before, especially not food or money, but decided that this was the only way. I told my husband I had prayed, he wasn't a christian at the time, and he just raised his eyebrows, and shook his head in disbelief.
The following morning Bob went to the local shop, the shop keeper who never gives anything away for nothing gave Bob a bag of pies and scotch eggs, his only explanation was that he over ordered the day before and knew he wouldn't sell them that day! Bob said, "your'e gonna say this is God arn't you" I just replied "you'll see".
That morning I went to the restaurant I worked at, and the manager gave me a huge bag of steak and kidney, he simply said "We cooked to much meat today, take it home, or it will be thrown away" I went to my second Job and my friend said "Heather at 10.00pm last night I took a family sized chocolate gateux out of the freezer, Im on a diet, take it home!!" my husband synical as ever simply looked at me as I explained to him where the food came from and he said, "ah but where are the vegetables!" (The night I had told him I had prayed he had been to the greenhouse at the bottem of the garden to see how his green beans were growing, came back looking really dejected, the beans were no good, they were small grey furry things that were shrivelled and would have to be got rid of). So I looked at Bob and said, "go get a pan from the kitchen and pick some greenbeans from the greenhouse" my husband laughed and told me I was a mad woman, but, he dutifully got a pan and went to the greenhouse. After waiting for t 10 minutes for him to return, I watched as he walked up the garden path. He wasn't laughing anymore, infact he was white and his eyes were wide open! He handed me the pan, full to the top of the biggest green beans you ever did see!! when our friend came for tea, she brought an apple pie and a blackberry pie, and guess what, we had enough food left to last us until pay day. This was Bobs first encounter with a supernatural God.
KIDNEY STONES AND A SOLID MASS IN THE GROIN.
Prayer is a wonderful thing, I know because I spent many an hour crying before the lord and asking him to help me cope with my unsaved husband.
Bob never stopped me going to church, but he ofen challenged me, and wanted to know why it was that I wanted to go to this and that meeting. After speaking with him one day about the reality of Jesus, he suddenly jumped to his feet and said "If your God is real, then he will take those pictures on the wall and turn them upside down in front of my eyes" I told him that He would'nt do that right now for him, but that he would remind Bob of his challenge one day, and that Bob would become a Christian because of it.
5yrs passed by, we were now living in Wales, and Bob began to be ill, he had severe pain in his back, and he had to go into hospital. They took him down for xrays 15 of them all together and came to tell us what they had found. Bob had kidney stones which accounted for the pain in the back, but the xrays also showed a solid mass that was growing in the groin. The doctors were very concerned, and asked Bob to go back for a cat scan in a months time. In the meantime, a team of doctors from london were visiting the hospital and had been booked to view the xrays and the cat scans.
Dr Bloodworth took Bob for the cat scan and I waited out in the waiting room. I had been praying for Bob, and he knew that people at church were praying too. Bob came and sat with me while the doctor studied the cat scans.
The doctor looked bemused and said "Mr Butler, I have 15 xrays here showing kidney stones and a solid lump in the groin, I have a team of Doctors about to view these notes and I dont know whats happened, the stones have gone, you could have passed them, they can sometimes disintegrate on their own and you wouldn't know, but the solid mass in the groin, it's Gone, it's not there anymore" I told the doctor that that was the power of Prayer. He looked so shocked, and as we walked out of the hospital that sunny afternoon the Holy Spirit prompted me and gave me these words for Bob " see Bob, God really did take those pictures and turn them upside down in front of your very eyes!!!" Bob tear filled eyes and laughing said that the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end.
My husband gave his life to Jesus that very day and has never looked back since!
We are just ordinary people who love and serve an extraordianry God, go on dare to believe for what you need in your life.
GOD CAN SPEAK THROUGH A DONKEY.
My son pedr is 9yrs old,and praise God is learning to speak now, although at the age of 5yrs old he could only say three words. Pedr has Downs Syndrome, he can hear music, but the midrange sounds such as speech he cannot hear, so because of this communication was very difficult and we learned some sign language.
One day my sons teacher phoned from school, and asked if we prayed for our son by putting our hands on his arm and muttering words (praying in tongues) I said that we did and asked her why she wanted to no. She told us that from time to time children in the class would be upset because of illness or because they had fallen over. She told us how when this happened Pedr would place his hands either on their arm or where there was pain and start to pray, and when he finished the child would stop crying, and was healed!
We were so amazed, the lord took a little boy who could not speak or hear to pray for the healing of children in his class! Isn't the lord amazing, and doesn't it just show how the lord will use anyone of us if we are willing to be used of Him. Well God can speak through a donkey, why not me or you!!
BULLIED AT SCHOOL
My son Tim was bullied for his faith at school, everyday he would have another bruise, or look really sad, and tell us the aweful names that the other boys would call him. The day came when Tim was to ill to go to school, he had suddenly started to twitch, and squint his eyes. He started to shout out words that sounded like swear words and was getting into a lot of trouble. Tim insisted that he wasnt shouting out, and that he wasn't swearing. We took Tim to a doctor who diagnosed taurettes syndrome. Taurettes syndrome means that the body jerks involuntarily and the person can shout out what sounds like swear words. The bullying at school had made Tim so ill that this is what happened to him.
I cried out from a mothers heart, and prayed "lord, can't you do somthing to make him fit in with the other boys at school". The following day Tim came to his dad and I and said " please can I have a drumkit, I'd really like to learn to play the drums" oh my, could we stand the noise!! But I felt in my spirit that it was right, and so we bought Tim his first set of drums. The pastor came and fitted them together, and Tim began to play. We were all so amazed, because the moment he hit the drums he was able to play them, the presence of the Holy Spirit was so strong as he played, infact he was so good that the pastor asked him to play in the worship team just a few months later.
Tim began to grow in confidence, he had to have 5 months off school and during that time he practiced his drumming, and prayed about going back to school. It was obvious that the drumming was keeping the twitches at bay, the squinting stopped, and suddenly he was ready to go back to school. The boys at school had been told that Tim had been ill, and that they should try not to be cruel to him.
One of his first lessons the week he went back was a music lesson, the teacher asked who could play a musical instrument, and Tim told them he played the drums. The teacher asked him to show him. The whole class was so shocked, to see my wonderfully confident son who played the drums so well that the lads who bullied him now wanted to learn to play like Tim. My son suddenly had street cred!!! He has never looked back since. He has many friends, mostly those who bullied him! He still tells them about Jesus, and they just accept him now, infact many have been into church over the years, some still do.
I never dreamed that the lord could do this for my son, I am so grateful that he gifted Tim in this way. Nowa days Tim plays guitar as well, leads the worship once a month, and even preached a few months ago and shocked us all! I was so pleased that he spoke about stepping out of the boat and into the new things of God. He told his testimony about being bullied, I was so proud of my son and my lord for helping him in such a wonderful way. Tim spoke with such fun and confidence that he had us all laughing . How wonderful the lord is, and hey, guess what, If he did this for Tim he can do it for you too.
