SPRING 2007-Finding God's Will-Part 2
Scriptures: Psalms 143.8-10
I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
We need to trust in Him. You may recall the verse in Proverbs 3.5,6: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thy own understanding; in all thy ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Also, Trust in Him because there really is no other way. He is the right way. He will show us where to go by directing our paths. But in order for him to direct our paths, we need to acknowledge him. How do we acknowledge him? We do that by knowing that He is there for us as well as exists and is there for us to call upon Him(pray). If we follow his leading, We will walk and stand on level ground. I would also saythat we will stand on Holy Ground as well.
Winter 2007-Finding God's Will-Part 1
Scriptures: Psalms 25.4-5,12
Show me Thy ways, O Lord; teach me Thy paths. Lead me in Thy truth, and teach me; for Thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all day.
What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that He shall choose.
All of us want to know God's will for our lives. That also includes what vocation he may want us to choose or any type of ministry that He may want us involved in. The first passage of scripture to me seems like a prayer. Prayer is a vital tool in finding God's will for our lives. There are three (3) things that are asked by the psalmist who could have been most likely praying this prayer.
1. Show me thy ways. We need to walk in His ways. His ways are the right ways.
2. Teach me. Teach me thy paths and teach me all together. We are never too old to learn new paths, ideas, or concepts. We are taught something new everyday. However, We must freely give what we freely receive and that means sharing this with others.
3. Lead me in thy truth. If we are led in the truth, we shall be successful in Finding Gods will. You may recall the verse that ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. It is important that we not only know the truth but apply the truth in our lives as well.
He is the God of our salvation and He is there for us waiting for us to call on him daily. We just need to reach out to Him by praying daily.
We need to fear the Lord. We need to be taught in the way that we will choose to follow. That should be the right way to go.
Note: The lesson is based on verses on a large bookmark recently purchased by me. I may use all the verses or may not. However, there will be several lessons based on these verses. May you apply these truths to your life and that these scriptures will help you find God's will in your life if you do not already know His will for your life.

Fall 2006-Jeremiah 29.11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Jeremiah 29.11- New International Version
The provisions of this verse are:
1. to prosper you.
2. to not harm you.
3.to give you hope.
4. to give you a future.
We need to remember to follow God's plan in our life by faith. Faith is forsaking all I trust Him. Remember that we are the followers and He is our guide. We need to always Trust in Him(see Proverbs 3.5-6)
He is our Shepherd-------He is leading us.
He is our Provider-------He is taking care of us.
He is our Strength-------He is enabling us.
He is our Counselor------He is speaking to us.
He is our Shield---------He is protecting us.
He is our Comfort--------He is encouraging us.
He is our Father---------He is blessing us.

SUMMER 2006(JUNE/JULY/AUGUST) PRAISE AND WORSHIP
IT IS THE SPIRIT WHO GIVES LIFE.....THESE WORDS THAT I SPEAK TO YOU ARE SPIRIT, AND THEY ARE LIFE. JOHN 6.63
GOD'S WORSHIP LEADERS ARE NOT CALLED TO WARM UP THE CROWD. WE ARE CALLED TO CO-LABOR WITH THEM TO OPEN THE HEAVENS, TO MAKE A WAY FOR THE PRESENCE OF GOD FOR HIS PURPOSES TO BE RELEASED. WE(THATS YOU AND ME) HAVE A PART IN RELEASING THE PROPHETIC ANNOINTING IN OUR PRAISE AND WORSHIP LEADERS. WHEN WE ENTER INTO HIS PRESENCE WITH PRAISE AND WORSHIP, WE CO-LABOR WITH THEM WHICH RELEASES PROPHETIC ANNOINTING. AS PROPHETIC ANNOINTING IS RELEASED, WE ARE SET FREE FROM DOMESTIC OPPRESSION.
COME LET'S GO UP TO THE MOUNTAIN AND HE WILL TEACH US HIS WAYS. ISAIAH 2.3
WHEN WE WORSHIP, WE ASCEND INTO GOD'S THRONE ROOM. THERE WE WILL RECEIVE THE REVELATION TO WALK AS NEW CREATURES ON THIS EARTH. WHEN WE WORSHIP, WE BREAK THE POWER OF RELIGIOUS SPIRITS OVER OUR LIVES. THEN, WE ARE ABLE TO RECEIVE TRUE REVELATION FOR TODAY. WHEN WE WORSHIP, GOD RELEASES HIS WORD AND REDEMPTIVE PURPOSES FOR OUR LIVES. WHEN WE ASCEND IN WORSHIP, WE HAVE SUPERNATURAL PROTECTION IN OUR SPIRITUAL WARFARE. WHEN WE WORSHIP, RESTORATION AND VICTORY OCCUR.
"WHOEVER BELIEVES IN ME," AS THE SCRIPTURE HAS SAID,"STREAMS OF LIVING WATER WILL FLOW FROM WITHIN HIM."

THE LIVING WATER REPRESENTS LIFE AND THE HOLY SPIRIT FLOWING LIKE A CONTINUOUS FOUNTAIN. WE MUST ALLOW THE RIVERS OF LIFE TO FLOW OUT OF US. WHEN PRAISE AND WORSHIP FLOW FROM HEARTS, GOD CAN PURGE THOSE THINGS FROM US THAT ARE NOT LIKE CHRIST. INCREASING OUR PRAISE AND WORSHIP TIME WILL ALLOW THE CURRENT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT TO FLOW FORCEFULLY PURGING PUR INWARD MAN. RAISING OUR HANDS, SHOUTING AND DANCING IS LIKE OPENING A DAM, RELEASING THE WATERS. AS WE ALLOW OURSELVES TO BE FREE, RIVERS OF PRAISE WILL FLOW OUT OF US AND NOTHING WILL HAVE THE STRENGTH TO STAND IN OUR WAY. ____________________________________________________________
MAY 2006-SILENCE. THERE WILL BE VARIOUS SCRIPTURE VERSES.
ECCLESIASTES 3.7B-A TIME TO KEEP SILENCE; AND A TIME TO SPEAK.
AS YOU CAN SEE, THERE NEED TO BE TIMES WHEN WE DO NOT NEED TO SAY ANYTHING. SOMETIMES, THAT MAY BE HARD TO DO. BUT, THE REWARDS ARE GREAT IN THE LONG RUN IF WE DO.
PROVERBS 21.23-WHOEVER GUARDS HIS MOUTH AND TONGUE KEEPS HIS SOUL FROM TROUBLES.
SOMETIMES KEEPING QUIET MAY CAN KEEP US OUT OF TROUBLE SINCE OUR MOUTHS HAVE THE CAPABILITY OF GETTING US IN TROUBLE.
PROVERBS 17.28-EVEN A FOOL IS COUNTED WISE WHEN HE HOLDS HIS PEACE; WHEN HE SHUTS HIS LIPS, HE IS EVEN CONSIDERED PERCEPTIVE.
THIS VERSE IS AMAZING. YOU COULD BE A FOOL THAT CAN BE CONSIDERED WISE IF YOU HOLD YOUR PEACE. ALSO, WHEN A PERSON SHUTS HIS LIPS, HE IS CONSIDERED PERCEPTIVE AS THE SCRIPTURE SAYS. ANOTHER TRANSLATION SAYS THAT THE FOOL IS ESTEEMED A MATTER OF UNDERSTANDING WHEN HE SHUTS HIS LIPS.
SO, IF YOU PERCEIVE, YOU MOST LIKELY ARE A PERSON THAT UNDERSTANDS.
BEING SILENT GIVES US TIME TO BE QUIET AND BE ABLE TO LISTEN TO GOD'S VOICE. GOD WANTS TO SPEAK TO US. HOWEVER, IF WE ARE TOO NOISY, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HEAR HIS VOICE.
IF WE ARE QUIET, HE CAN COMFORT US. IF WE ARE QUIET, HE CAN GIVE US WISDOM. IF WE ARE QUIET, HE CALL FILL US WITH PEACE AND SURROUND US WITH HIS GREAT AND WONDERFUL LOVE.
WE NEED TO LEARN TO BE SILENT IN HIS PRESENCE. LET US REALIZE THAT THERE WILL COME A DAY WHEN WE WILL SING PRAISES TO HIM FOR ALL ETERNITY. IN THE MEANTIME, LET'S ENJOY THE NOISE OR TIMES OF SILENCE. I LEARNED ONE THING GROWING IN MY TEEN YEARS THAT SILENCE IS GOLDEN. MANY YEARS LATER, I CAN TESTIFY TO THAT.

APRIL 2006-WOUNDED FOR YOU. SCRIPTURE FOCUS: HE WAS WOUNDED FOR OUR TRANSGRESSIONS,HE WAS BRUISED FOR OUR INIQUITIES: THE CHASTISEMENT OF OUR PEACE WAS UPON HIM; AND WITH HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED. ISAIAH 53.5
WE MAY EXPERIENCE SUFFERING, SICKNESS, AND PAIN IN OUR LIFE THAT WE MAY SOMETIMES FIND UNBEARABLE TO DEAL WITH. BUT, THE PAIN THAT JESUS CHRIST ENDURED FROM BEING BEATEN ALL OVER WAS FAR GREATER THAN WE COULD EVER EXPERIENCE. JESUS SUFFERED WOUNDS ALL OVER INCLUDING STRIPES ON HIS BACK AND PAIN FROM BEING PIERCED WITH NAILS THAT LED TO THE LOSS OF BLOOD. HE DID THIS ALL FOR US. WHAT A GREAT SACRIFICE! HE WAS WOUNDED AT CALVARY FOR YOUR TRANSGRESSIONS, WHICH IS REFERRED TO AS SINS AND SHORTCOMINGS. HE WAS BEATEN(BRUISED) FOR OUR INIQUITIES, WHICH IS REFERRED TO POSSIBLY OUR WANT OR DESIRE TO SIN. THE CHASTISEMENT, WHICH IS REFERRED TO AS PUNISHMENT FOR OUR PEACE WAS UPON HIM. AND THROUGH ALL THOSE STRIPES ON HIM BACK, WE ARE HEALED. OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST DID A WONDERFUL THING FOR YOU AND ME WHEN HE SUFFERED, BLED, AND DIED TO REDEEM THIS SINFUL AND LOST WORLD! HE WAS WOUNDED ON THE CROSS FOR YOU. HE PAID FOR YOUR TRANSGRESSIONS THERE. HE WAS DELIVERED FOR OUR SINS THAT WE MIGHT BE DELIVERED FROM HIM. ACCEPT HIM AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR TODAY IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HIM. TELL OTHERS ABOUT HIM AS WELL.

February/March 2006-CHILDREN AND PARENTS
Scripture: Ephesians 6.1-3
Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right(verse 1). That is a command in my opinion. That is the right thing for children to do. The Lord wants and commands children to do that. If the Lord didnt want children to do that, then that scripture may have not made it into the bible.
Honor thy father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise(verse 2). Children are to that. It is also one of the ten commandments. A promise is a declaration or engagement to do. So, children need to be engaged in constantly honoring their father and mother.
That it may be well with thee, and tha thou mayest live long on the earth(verse 3). If children fail to do verse one and verse 2, they may not be able to accomplish this verse. If they do not obey and honor their parents, then it will not be well with thee(God). Also, they may not get to live long on the earth.
So, Children obey and honor your parents so that you may live long on the earth!

LESSON-JANUARY 2006-GOD IS FOR YOU
Hey friend, did you know that God is interested in you? Well, God is interested and is for you. The bible says in Romans 8.31, "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"
"The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works". Psalm 145.9
In addition to being for us, God also cares about me and you. He knows about all the frustrations, problems, and everything we may go through in this life.
But God is for you! Your parents may have forgotten you; your teachers may have neglected you; your siblings may be ashamed of you; but, within the reach of your prayer is the maker of oceans, God(Max Lucado).
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46.1
Even in times of trouble, God is still there for you. He is our refuge and strength. In our weakness, He is strong.
Big Problems, God is bigger!
To all who have read this lesson: After reading all the insights covered here, You can indeed know that God is for you no matter what! May God bless you in all that you do. Remember that You have to trust in Him.

LESSON-DECEMBER 2005-THE WISE MEN-MATTHEW 2.1-12

The wise men came from the East from Jerusalem. They had asked where He was born as the King of the Jews. They had seen his star in the East and had come to worship Him. The wise men were the same people as depicted in the hymn, We Three Kings.
However, This was in the day of King Herod. It has troubled King Herod when he had heard about it. You know that he wanted all male kids to a certain age to be killed. He had demanded to know from his priests and scribes where Christ was to be born.
Herod even wanted the wise men to search for the newborn child and bring word back to him when the found the child because Herod wanted to go there and worship him. The wise men departed and went on their way.
The star in the east led them to where the newborn child was. They came to the child and fell down and worshipped Him. The newborn King was presented with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The wise men later departed into their own country another way and did not return to tell Herod where the newborn child was.
The star was most likely that star of wonder, star of light that is referred to in the song, We Three Kings Orient Are.

THE STORY (SUMMARIZED)
JESUS, AS A 12 YEAR-OLD BOY WENT TO THE FEAST OF THE PASSOVER WITH HIS PARENTS IN JERUSALEM. AFTER ATTENDING THE FEAST FOR SEVERAL DAYS, HIS PARENTS RETURNED TO NAZARETH. UPON RETURNING TO NAZARETH, HIS PARENTS REALIZED THAT JESUS WAS NOT WITH THEM. JESUS HAD STAYED BEHIND IN JERUSALEM.
SO, HIS PARENTS RETURNED TO JERUSALEM TO THE TEMPLE AND FOUND HIM SITTING THERE TALKING TO THE TEACHERS AND ASKING THEM QUESTIONS. THIS HAD AMUSED HIS PARENTS. THEY HAD ASKED HIM, WHY HAVE YOU DONE THIS TO US?
YOU KNOW THEY HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR HIM SINCE REALIZING THAT HE WAS NOT WITH THEM WHEN THEY RETURNED TO NAZARETH. JESUS ANSWERED THEIR QUESTION THEY HAD ASKED BY SAYING TO THEM THAT HE WAS ABOUT HIS FATHER'S BUSINESS. HIS PARENTS DID NOT EVEN UNDERSTAND THIS STATEMENT. JESUS RETURNED TO NAZARETH WITH HIS PARENTS AND WAS SUBJECT TO THEM.
JESUS DID INCREASE IN THREE THINGS. JESUS INCREASED IN WISDOM,STATURE, AND IN FAVOR WITH GOD AND MAN. I BELIEVE THAT THESE THREE THINGS WERE ESSENTIAL AND LAID THE GROUNDWORK FOR HIS MINISTRY.
QUESTIONS:
1-WHAT WAS THE FEAST THAT JESUS HAD ATTENDED IN JERUSALEM WITH HIS PARENTS?
2-WAS JESUS WITH HIS PARENTS WHEN THEY RETURNED TO NAZARETH?

WE SHOULD ALSO HAVE A THANKFUL HEART. SO, AS WE APPROACH THE UPCOMING HOLIDAY SEASON, LET US APPLY THIS LESSON TO OUR LIVES.
