List of hoaxes
Virus hoaxes, scams, and chain letters abound in email. Before forwarding that dire sounding warning or too good to be true promise, check the validity of it here. Chances are, it's a hoax. Virus hoaxes and myths waste time and money - and can make the sender look foolish. Don't fall victim to a virus hoax. Check the list of hoaxes below to find out the facts behind that email. The follow are hoaxes and warnings about hoaxes. Anything printed in WHITE is factual, alerting you of the hoax.

Concerning the family whose daughter was killed in the VA. Tech massacre:
We (my source) have been unable to substantiate the claim in this email. There have been no reports in San Antonio about a family backing over and killing its eight-year-old child.
None of the Virginia Tech victims were named "Bear" - and none were reported as being from Texas. When I saw the new last night about all of the VA Tech victims, none were named "Bear". I thought that was fishy.

THEN WHEN IT'S FINISHED WITH MEMORY IT INFECTS YOUR MOUSE OR POINTING DEVICE. THEN IT GOES TO YOUR KEY BOARD AND THE LETTERS YOU TYPE WILLNOT REGISTER ON SCREEN.
BEFORE IT SELF TERMINATES IT EATS 5MB OF HARD DRIVE SPACE AND WILL DELETE ALL PROGRAMS ON IT AND IT CAN SHUT DOWN ANY 8 BIT TO 16 BIT SOUND CARDS RENDERING YOUR SPEAKERS USELESS. IT WILL COME IN E-MAIL CALLED "OPEN:VERY COOL! :) DELETE IT RIGHT AWAY. THIS VIRUS WILL BASICLY RENDER YOUR COMPUTER USELESS. YOU MUST PASS THIS ON QUICKLY AND TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSLE!!

According to an article by Dr. Beverly Clark, in the Journal of the United Medical Association (JUMA), the mystery behind a recent spate of deaths has been solved.
If you haven't already heard about it in the news, here is what happened. 3 women in Chicago, turned up at hospitals over a 5 day period, all with the same symptoms. Fever, chills, and vomiting, followed by muscular collapse, paralysis, and finally, death. There were no outward signs of trauma. Autopsy results showed toxicity in the blood.
These women did not know each other, and seemed to have nothing in common. It was discovered, however, that they had all visited the same restaurant (Big Chappies, at Blare Airport), within days of their deaths.
The health department descended on the restaurant, shutting it down. The food, water, and air conditioning were all inspected and tested, to no avail.
The big break came when a waitress at the restaurant was rushed to the hospital with similar symptoms. She told doctors that she had been on vacation, and had only went to the restaurant to pick up her check. She did not eat or drink while she was there, but had used the restroom.
That is when one toxicologist, remembering an article he had read, drove out to the restaurant, went into the restroom, and lifted the toilet seat. Under the seat, out of normal view, was small spider.
The spider was captured and brought back to the lab, where it was determined to be the South American Blush Spider (arachnius gluteus), so named because of its reddened flesh color. This spider's venom is extremely toxic, but can take several days to take effect. They live in cold, dark, damp, climates, and toilet rims provide just the right atmosphere.
Several days later a lawyer from Los Angeles showed up at a hospital emergency room. Before his death, he told the doctor, that he had been away on business, had taken a flight from New York, changing planes in Chicago, before returning home. He did not visit Big Chappies while there. He did, as did all of the other victims, have what was determined to be a puncture wound, on his right buttock.
Investigators discovered that the flight he was on had originated in South America. The Civilian Aeronautics Board (CAB) ordered an immediate inspection of the toilets of all flights from South America, and discovered the Blush spider's nests on 4 different planes!
It is now beleived that these spiders can be anywhere in the country. So please, before you use a public toilet, lift the seat to check for spiders. It can save your life!

New Virus found!!
Intel announced that a new and very destructive virus was discovered recently. If you receive an email called "An Internet Flower For You," do not open it. Delete it right away! This virus removes all dynamic link libraries (.dll files) from your computer. Your computer will not be able to boot up.

Hucksters are at it again.
Instead of potentially life-threatening Nigerian 419 scams disguised as money-laundering schemes, this one promises generous payments from Bill Gates, Microsoft, and AOL. All you have to do to is forward an email, sit back and collect a couple hundred bucks per email address - NOT!
According to the bogus email, these corporate giants are conducting an "e-mail beta test" to ensure that "Internet Explorer remains the most widely used program." Supposedly you will be paid up to $245 per email address to which you forward, with pyramid payouts that continue to provide additional income each time the forwarded email is forwarded. There's even a personal note at the bottom promising "You are bound to get at least US$10,000.00."

(They contact you via your email address).

What's Wrong With This Picture

1-If you look closely at the image, Midtown Manhattan is clearly discernible in the background behind the subject, indicating that the photographer is facing north from the location of the twin towers. Only one of the planes approached from that direction — the first, American Airlines Flight #11, which struck the north tower (One World Trade) at 8:45 a.m.
2-The north building HAD NO observation deck. This picture shows the plane about to hit the SOUTH building, (Where I was standing at that same spot two weeks earlier, by the way!).
3-Why isn't the airline - flying 400 MPH - blurry in the photo?
4-Why isn't the subject or the photographer alarmed by even the sound of the approaching airline?
5-The temperature was between 65 and 70 degrees that morning, (I was in Queens that morning). Why is this man dressed for winter?
6-How did the camera survive the disaster, and found so quickly amidst all the rubble?
7-Why did this one-of-a-kind, newsworthy photo never appear in the media until after it had already been well circulated via email?
